It was quirky and quite different.

The room was a queen but was definately smaller. As it was a small room there is no need for all the ‘stuff’. For example, the stool with the magazines, the ironing board etc… these should be available on request but don’t need to be in the room - there isn’t room!

Everything was perfect and exceeded all expectations! The room was extremely cozy and had all the facilties we required - the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was really modern which included an amazing shower with great water pressure. The Breakfast was of a very high standard and a delicious way to start both days. The staff were also very welcoming, friendly and helpful from start to finish. We also loved the guest house bar in the evenings (the hot chocolates were a delicious way to warm up after a cold day out in York!). We would definitely return to this guest house for another stay!

Although we were aware of this prior to arrival, we feel the parking cost was too high (£15 per night), and given the price we had already paid for the room, we didn't feel an additional parking cost should have been added. Apart from that though, there was nothing we disliked!

As a lesbian couple we didn't know what to expect, but when we got there it was above and beyond our expectations. The staff were so accommodating and helpful with everything, making us feel at home. The room we stayed in was absolutely stunning, with amazing pieces of art throughout the whole guest house it just had such a cosy and inviting atmosphere. I booked our holiday as a 25th birthday surprise for my fiancée and it is now a birthday she will never forget. ❤️ The best part of the Clementine's Guest House has got to be their gorgeous Resident house cat Teddy 🧸❤️ as a photographer I couldn't resist getting some stunning shots of him (not like he complained, he's such a poser 😂). At our checking out, we got Teddy a little cat toy for doing such a good job! I also gave the lovely receptionist some printed versions of the edited photos I'd done of Teddy. She seemed to absolutely love them and went to show the rest of the staff. That just put such a big smile on my face to see how much they loved the photos. It really meant the whole world! There wasn't a single thing that we didn't like, everything was just spectacular and we couldn't fault it! It is absolutely worth it, and we are definitely going to be returning in the future!

For starters, this wasn't our first rodeo at Clementines. Over the past couple of years, I must've called - either with my son or partner - some 4/5 times. Rooms exquisite, staff and welcome exemplary, an ambience you won't find anywhere else in York. The decor is classic yet contemporary, amazing beds, wonderful bathrooms, AND - for the first time yet - we had breakfast. Oh my life, what've I been spending my life doing?? Superb spread, all seemingly local produce, and JUST the right amount of food to set you off on your day. Plus, it snowed over Saturday night, so we woke to a deep blanket of the white stuff. Lovely.

Are you 'avin' a laff (is he 'avin' a laff) etc. Absolutely nothing. No flies in ointment, no bug bear. Literally faultless from arrival to departure.

The Clementine is a beautiful guest house, and our room was spotless. The breakfast was delicious, and there was a varied menu to choose from. The staff on the most part were incredibly helpful and pleasant.

The £15 per night parking charge was not apparent on booking.com. After booking, we received five emails regarding our stay, and the parking charge was only made known at the bottom of the fifth email. By this time, we were already en route. We were informed of the parking charge on our arrival, and the receptionist was quite rude when we told them we had not been aware of this.

Beautiful estate, very nice room. Comfy bed and stylish interior. Staff very professional and accommodating. The breakfast was delicious as well.

Nitpicking but providing feedback to improve even more. The showerhead clean but hadn’t been descaled for a while so the rain-shower sprayed in all directions at first. The fan in the bathroom was quite loud and the toilet was really tight between the wall and the sink. The lighting setup was a bit strange with very large bedside lamps that had a separate switch from the main ceiling lights which had a switch by each bedside. Integrating those with that switch (separately) and replacing them with a smaller lamp would make that more comfortable and intuitive. There was a very bright green LED in the ceiling by the door. It might have been there as emergency lighting to illuminate the exit but it was bright enough to be a distraction when trying to sleep.

The hotel is beautiful and in a quiet street. The suite was really beautiful as well. The breakfast room was really lovely. Great interior. Staff so friendly and well informed. Able to suggest what to see etc The bed was very comfortable and they provided some good refreshments including milk for tea.

I thought breakfast was a bit over priced in that we only had eggs and toast. Some avocado on the first morning. All the salmon had been finished as it was long weekend and they didn’t have any left. Extra charge for lattes which ought to have been included in breakfast price

The room was absolutely tiny but we were warned we had the smallest room in the property when we checked in, and were offered a very reasonably priced upgrade to the biggest room, which we ultimately decided against as we were only staying for a night. The room we stayed in was super comfy and cosy with lovely quirky finishes and didn't feel as little as it was due to the lovely high ceilings and plenty of natural light. Perfect location just a few minutes from the city centre. All staff were brilliant and friendly too, especially the young lady who checked us in.

Beautiful hotel. Very friendly staff. Manged to get a really good price and a Queen bed for the night. Fresh bottle of water left in the room by the person who showed me the way. As well as tea and coffee in the room there was hot chocolate and a kitkat. Really cosy, and beautifully decorated. And the shower was amazing. Really enjoyed meeting the night porter when I checked out also. Would highly recommend. I didn't eat their or have a drink in the bar, but look forward to doing that on my next visit.

Loved everything about it 😃

It's a truly beautiful place with a unique interior design that we loved. Findig our room was like climbing up the stairs in a maze (in a good way) and made us feel as if we were staying in a castle. The room was clean, with surprise Kit-Kat bars and Cadbury hot chocolate powder on the tea table. The bed was big and comfy, bathroom shower excellent with two shower heads. Staff was really nice and helpful (e.g. carrying my luggage to our room). We loved the little garden in the back and the location is also perfect, in a quiet area but ten minutes on foot from the city centre. We appreciated that at breakfast, the self-service table was monitored and restacked regularly. If we return to York, we would love to book this place again.

We prefer full self-service breakfast (here you have a self-service part plus a menu you can order from) - also, if someone is not keen on eggs it's a bit difficult to choose a meal, but this is a minor thing and it definitely does not impact the 10/10 score.
