This place was super chill. the owner Rene was thoughtful and kind, Sephora made a delicious breakfast every day and Israel kept the place spiffy. kayaks and paddle boards available to explore the gorgeous blue fresh water lake. We had a 4 hour catamaran tour with Elise and Danny that included biology lesson and a beautiful fruit lunch. the cabanas are unique and quiet. the bathroom facilities are private but shared. sinks are communal outside. We liked so well we stayed an extra night. Taxis can be called to get a ride. we had a car so we went to Chetumal for evening meals.

It was exactly what we were looking for.

Israel and Sephora are amazing! They run the place with a lot of heart and care, and made the place feel even better than it already does with the sweet cabins and direct lake access. Free kayaks and paddleboards and bikes! Lovely cabins! Great breakfast. Hammocks. Deck. Right on the water.

This is not on Pepos directly, but the neighbor two doors south down the lake was blaaaasting music, it was 2 guys (who maybe aren't even there permanently) listening to music at music festival volumes at random times. It wasn't constant and it would NOT prevent me from returning here--I loved it--BUT if there were any conversation that could happen with those people to contain their volume or listening times that would be a big help. One rec to future travelers: get most of your groceries in Bacalar or Chetumal, it's slim pickins in Xul-Ha.

I loved our stay here - the rooms were really luxurious, the common area was more normal. the location was great, everyone was nice, we loved borrowing the canoes to explore the lagoon. it was very relaxing.

the pier with hammocks on it could have been nicer, it was cement so a little uncomfortable to lie down on, and there weren;t always enough hammocks for the guests. it was a little confusing who worked there and to get information about the area, but everyone was really nice and guests shared information with each other too.

The staff, surroundings, activities and most importantly the community of this special place. My partner and I have been traveling around Mexico for a few weeks and this is by far our favorite place we have stayed at. The natural beauty of the property is otherworldly! I highly recommend this quaint place to everyone. Beds were comfortable, food was amazing and the people & pets here give it such a spectacular experience. Muchas gracias to Pepos. We will for sure be back!! :)

Cutest cabañas at the Bacalar lagoon. Close to all the attractions, but still private (and more affordable than lake front Bacalar). Great views. nice staff, and a small breakfast was included. Be sure to speak some Spanish though :-)

the accommodation was great, but there are not too many dinner options in the little town (and they eat early in this part of Mexico)

location is amazing for an overnight stop. cute huts and amazing veranda. Beautiful lake front paddle boarded , swam before breakfast, great breakfast. Great late nite welcoming.

not good cross ventilation in huts, stuffy, loud fan, didn't feel like running AC.

Very nice location next to the lake. Nice sitting area outside and free use of kayaks and paddle boards. Good breakfast included.

Would be nice if they had restaurant service for dinner too. In close area not much nice restaurant options.

I was very happy with my stay at pepos I believe the nephew? of pepo was the manager of all logistics and provided me with great accommodations and even a full book about Mexican birds along with great conversations !

Staff attentiveness was great, and breakfast was everyone's favorite, a home cooked meal.
