The room was comfortable and the food was amazing.
The only issue we had was at dinner....We were given a table next to the bar ( because we had a dog we weren't allowed in the main restaurant areas) We were basically sitting in the path of everyone ...the bar was busy..people were very very close to us and we felt uncomfortable so left straight after eating. We chose this establishment because it is meant to be dog friendly.....I feel the area we were allowed to go with our dog was not adequate. If you had an area on the perimeter of the restaurant this would really help to keep everyone happy.

Our over all stay was lovely. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast was amazing and the area was nice and quiet. There is a bus service too which we used over our stay.
This is difficult as we loved everything apart from 2 things and it seems mean to mention them to sway peoples opinions... Trust me the Hotel is amazing. However we slept in the downstairs room, the room was great, well equipped. The bed was not a double bed though, it was 2 single beds pushed together, it was not comfortable. The other thing was we borrowed the iron and ironing board whilst we were there, the ironing board looked like it had been left in a shed for a few years .... I used one of the hotels towels to put over it, so it was ok'ish.

The hosts were very welcoming and the room was extremely well appointed with better than expected facilities. There were all the usual coffee and tea facilities but we had freshly made cake on a stand under a glass dome and, in addition to both sparkling and none sparkling water, we had a small carafe of sloe gin. The restaurant had a wonderful selection of food and wine at great value prices and the breakfast, served by the owner, was exceptional. I would strongly recommend this hostelry if you are in the area for a holiday or simply travelling - just perfect!

The hosts were very welcoming and took us up to our room which was nice . we ate in the restaurant at night which was 10/10 compliments to the chef . The extent choices at the bar of beers and Whisky was great . The room was clean tidy and spacious my partner thourally enjoyed the roll top bath and our nights sleep was comfy and relaxing .Again in the morning breakfast was very tasty and nothing was too much trouble. The biscuits/water in the room and gin although not a gin drinker was a lovely touch and enjoyed. location to where we were heading was good 👍
nothing comes to mind

The room was beautifully furnished with a comfortable bed, roll top bath with shower. Staff were very friendly. The food was absolutely delicious for breakfast and when we dined in their restaurant. There were added touches that we hadn't experienced before when staying in accommodation - we had homemade cake left in the room on our arrival and on our second day cheese scones. It's in a excellent location near to the A1 so great access north and south for exploring the area. Though we couldn't hear the traffic so quiet for relaxing and getting to sleep. We definitely recommend it.
For 4 star accommodation, whilst they provide free mini toiletries, there wasn't a small soap for using to wash our hands after using the toilet. We are veggie though we eat fish, we would have loved at breakfast a full English meat alternative option but there wasn't one. To keep costs down, they could buy frozen vegan sausages, that gives vegans the option too because they wouldn't be able to eat the alternatives - pancakes, croissants, yoghurt. 16% of the UK population are now meat free and I know meat eaters who choose to eat less meat now too. Offering this would encourage a more mixed customer base. Also, it was met with bemusement when I asked the owner for two coasters for our hot drinks not wanting to put them straight onto their furniture and were given the last two beer mats.

Excellent stay here for a short break, would definitely return. The staff are lovely and the facilities are good. The fresh cakes/bakes were a nice touch. The location is excellent, just off the A1 but not noisy, 15 minute drive to Bamburgh and Alnwick. The food was the highlight of our stay, can’t recommend this enough!! Every meal was a 10/10.
The bed in room 3 is not comfortable, there is a ridge and it slopes to the right side so when you roll over it feels as though you may roll off the bed! Not a huge problem but enough to wake you with a jolt.

The food here is excellent. We stayed two nights - 7 days apart and had a meal in the restaurant both nights. They were excellent. Lots of choice on the menu and food served hot and beautifully presented. Bedroom was a good size with sweet treats left on both nights. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and fresh milk available from the fridge on the landing.
There was a strange smell in the restaurant and in the hallway leading to the rooms. Not sure what it was. Staff could have smiled a little. The gent who served us breakfast (The landlord?) looked rather sullen when he served us. Bed was to hard for our liking.

The Lodge was spacious and comfortable for the 2 of us. Great privacy, and view across the countryside. The hot tub was perfect. Not overlooked and a wonderful addition to the experience of the place. The location was a great place to explore the local area from. The White Swan pub/ hotel/restaurant is warm and welcoming. Great food, fire, just what we needed. Overall, really good value for money.

Our hosts were very friendly and welcoming, the room was spacious, clean and tidy. The food and drink on offer was excellent, we especially loved the breakfast. The pub is in a great rural location not far from the A1 in a lovely quiet village. A perfect stay for us on our first ever visit to Northumberland (we only waited 40 years!) and enabled us to easily visit Holy Island, Bamburgh, Seahouses and Alnwick over the weekend all of which were within a 20 minute drive in various directions. We'd definitely recommend staying here and look forward visiting again.

The room was beautifully decorated and there was cake and a small drink on arrival. There was fruit in a bowl and fresh milk in the fridge in the communal hall. The towels were fluffy and thick. We could take the dog in to the bar to eat. Before we arrived we were called to ask if we would like to book a table as they only had one left. The food was exceptional . The veggie options were limited on the menu so they offered to make me stuffed pepper with risotto wild mushrooms and goat cheese. The desserts were delicious. The bath was beautiful.
We liked everything Possibly if you were less able or would be hard to climb into the bath to shower. My Dad wouldn’t be able to do it.
