The hotel was amazing and the staff was wonderful and the food was amazing. Put first night in was after a long and somewhat stressful day of travel. The staff was amazing. We checked into our beautiful room, found a table downstairs at the attached restaurant, the "Cheery Beinn" and had a delicious meal (with wine!). Breakfast the next morning was equally wonderful. The staff even helped us arrange laundry, as we were halfway through our trip and were in dire need of clean clothes. Everyone went above and beyond all of our expectations. Thank you, Jackie and Kelly!

Nothing. It was perfect.

The breakfast was superb, as was dinner the previous evening and the chef is a delightful woman who works extremely hard Our room was huge with gorgeous views

As someone with mobility issues, showers over the bath area not appropriate. A walk in shower is much safer and easier to use.

The Cheery Beinn breakfast was amazing, and our host was most welcoming and accommodating, going so far as to share fresh plums and apples from the orchard for our forward journey.

The staff (Kellie) were fantastic. Kellie's food (and coffee) was amazing. The Retreat was clean, comfortable and very homely. I would certainly stay there again.

The hotel was easy to find and is a short walk from the village center which has a nice café, a shop, as well as additional shops that look like they're only open during the summer. Our bed was very comfy and the hotel was spotless. It smelled very fresh and clean. You can tell it's an old hotel, but I think that gives it that extra charm. I would say it looks "tired" - more like vintage or rustic. Our room was spacious and the bathroom functional - what more do you need? Not sure why folks on here are moaning about the bathroom being small. I mean, you just go in there to do your business and wash. Looking at the other reviews, it seems a lot of people come here expecting the Ritz while also believing they're in an episode of Four In A Bed. We personally really liked this hotel and thought it was very clean, warm, and comfortable.

It can be a little noisy as noise travels too well in this hotel, but that's one of the downsides to staying in an old building. I did find the lack of TVs a little bizarre but I can appreciate the reasoning. Although, at the same time, I think most people tend to use a TV when switching off to go to sleep (I know I do). I'm quite sensitive to outside noise and often need a fan or TV to drown it out, so it would be good if the hotel could offer folks the choice.

Lovely property and loved the town. The bed was comfy and the was plenty of room. We also enjoyed the view from the top floor.

We were on the third level (top) and it was a bit tough without a lift. Our shower was dreadful. There was no water pressure. At one point I was standing fully shampooed when the water stopped completely. I have long hair, so after a few freezing minutes, the water dribbled back on. I was not at all impressed. It was a very unpleasant experience. Beside the side window, one of the floorboards was very unstable and I thought I would put my foot through the floor. I believe management is fairly new, so a work in progress.

We had a fantastic stay at The Retreat Hotel in Strathpeffer. Mr.Scott Fenwick was incredibly helpful in not just answering all our questions but he made great and engaging conversation and told us a lot about Scotland, places we could go see around the hotel, and the story of the hotel and town we stayed at. The beds were unbelievably comfortable- especially after our long days, the hotel was warm and welcoming and didn't feel formal in any measure. The location was perfect- 30 minutes from Inverness with a view of farms and the mountains from every window and the freshest air we could breathe. Loved every minute of our stay here!

This was a last minute booking due to a ferry cancellation. The price was very cheap and we were very surprised at the quality of our stay for what we paid. A large room with double bed (2 singles joined together) with an adjoining room with bunkbeds. The hotel was very quiet due to time of year and there were no staff there except for the lovely Millie in the kitchen who prepared a fabulous meal. The self check-in online didn't work for us, but a quick call and our key was left in the door for us. The honesty bar was a novelty for sure!

This is a Victorian house and that add a lot of character and atmosphere, however, inevitably reduces some comfort. The surrounding area is beautiful, the all village still has quite a Victorian aura. There are a lot of original details throughout the all property.

The bathroom was extremely small, there was not even space to hang more than one towel and space for just a couple of toothbrushes. In the room was also just one hook to hang things. The towels were quite small, the lid of the the wc kept falling on your back when you were sitting. Just1 roll of toilet paper present with no reserve.

Great location in a wonderful village, room was really nice and met our needs. Awesome bar at the property with beer garden too for bar billiards & bean bag game.

WiFi we couldn't connect to the free WiFi throughout our stay. Water pressure in shower not great and water goes too hot after about 90 seconds, got around this by rinsing in stages. A couple of small gripes, only noted to make other travellers aware/help the property aware so they can become better. Even given these gripes I'd definitely stay here again the staff are very good and for the price we paid in Strathpeffer, defiantly worth it
