This was a last minute booking for a brief New Year get a way with 3 generations of the family. Having read the reviews on line I was apprehensive. Knoll House exceeded our expectations. We stayed in a two bedroom family suite in the grounds of the hotel with family in the chalet next door. Bathrooms clearly upgraded and spacious, facilities in room absolutely fine, double glazed windows and doors appreciated due to stormy windy weather. Central heating lovely. Breakfast buffet plentiful and replenished regularly - choice for everyone. Grand children loved the wooden pirate ship in the children's play area although bad weather stopped them using it as much as they would have liked. Plunge pool used every day, yes, its small, but perfectly formed. Towels provided and sauna working well. New Years Eve event seemed to be organised very well although we did not buy the package for this, hotel was busy and functioned well. Fires in the grates in the lounges. A member of the family party became poorly and we needed to change room configuration in order to care for grand children. The lady on the Reception desk went above and beyond in helping to sort the issue for us and we were extremely grateful and blown away by her helpfulness. We have already booked a return visit because of this positive helpful attitude.

Nothing - it is a quirky hotel and harks back to a different age - but if your looking for squeaky clean, shiny and ultra modern this isn't the place for you. Expect to pay for Wi fi.

Overall, a lovely experience and good value. Very unique style of hotel with lots of lovely features. There were so many places in the hotel to relax and chill. The location was also sublime. A 10 minute walk to the beach. A 20 minute walk to The Pig on the Beach for dinner. And a lovely 2 hour walk passing Old Harry Rocks, down to Swanage. And for another dinner option, taxi to the ferry, then ferry and walk into Sandbanks for dinner. One top tip, book your cabs well in advance. Would recommend Bill's Taxis.

Enjoyed its history and quite liked its simplistic warm environment, also location was perfect for what we wanted.

Lacking Fridge in room and disappointed steam room and Pool area could do with upgrade No gym facility although Tennis and Pitch and putt facility ideal in good weather

Breakfast good, liked insulated coffee pots and mini pastries. Room location good and two balconies Bathroom good liked Elmis toiletries. Plenty of storage room but chair too low to sit at mirror.

No Wi-Fi signal in room. One of balcony doors couldn't be locked. Room radiator produced no heat full of air. Towel rail heater didn't work, so no heating and no drying of towels. Room wasn't serviced during our whole stay (four nights) although we requested cleaning after two nights. Our first night dinner (Monday) was very disappointing, as a result we ate out locally.

Having to eat on a sofa because of having a dog was not ideal

A separate area for dining with table and chairs for dog owners

It’s an absolute gem. A time warp. So much history. The location is truly superb and stunning. So many quirky bits around every corner. So spread out. All the lounges, halls, dining areas, amazingly spacious , light, cheerful and with views to die for. We accept it is tired and a money pit for Kingfisher resorts to maintain , but it was prefect for what we paid and what we wanted. The outdoor pool was an absolute bonus and we used it 3 times.

Everyone we spoke to was on an offer. The offer was so much better value than we had paid , even though when I booked I did telephone the hotel and try to book DIRECT. We were envious that everyone else had their evening meals included but sadly we did NOT😕😥

Loved everything about this characterful hotel and its old world charm! We had a cosy room with the comfiest bed and amazing view! The buffet breakfast was tasty and plentiful, with a good selection. We also had a very enjoyable dinner during our stay. The location couldn’t be better for accessing Studland bay, with Knoll beach just across the road and close to some beautiful circular walks passing by Old Harry Rocks. The staff were friendly and helpful. The highlight of our stay was using the outdoor swimming pool and the stunning scenery. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Outdoor swimming pool area needs a little tlc on walls.

We liked the location of the hotel, and in particular the beautiful sea view from our spacious main bedroom in the family suite. There was a big terrace/ balcony which we would have used more had there been time. The staff were friendly and helpful when we had problems with timing for dinner. Very good breakfast, lots of choice: cooked breakfast, fresh fruit etc., etc.

The decor is rather faded but this didn't really bother us as we didn't expect sleek modernity. We were not impressed by the very small second room of the family suite and by the bathroom. We would have liked to use the outdoor pool as it was one of the reasons for booking the hotel. However, it was not available due to maintenance issues, and we wonder how often it actually is available.

Nice food. Lovely towels and bed linen Good quality toiletries. Lots of character Log fire Nice staff

Bit tired No hot water second morning Suana and jacuzzi not working Steam room barely warm Golf course unkempt Games room pool cues had no tips. The bar and wines a bit overpriced. Disappointed when ordering coffee in bar it was just out of the dining room machine but charged at barista prices. Apparently they are hoping to refurb and upgrade I hope they do t destroy the character.

The quaint almost colonial feel to the hotel. Yes perhaps dated, but this is part of its charm. If you are looking for ultra-modern, Knoll House is not for you! We really liked the atmosphere here; cozy, friendly and we will definitely return!

The bed was not very comfortable and we weren’t too pleased with the overly expensive bottles of wine at the bar and the 10% service charge on it! The dinner menu could do with a revamp and offer more variety. Maybe the option of bar snacks as opposed to expensive 2 or 3 course meals would be a good alternative for guests.
