Elizabeth and Selwyn were wonderful hosts and made us feel very comfortable. We explored the garden and the beach in Selwyn's argo, which was great fun! We loved chatting to Elizabeth and Selwyn about our trip and their experiences while having happy hour. The food was simply incredible and so delicious. Elizabeth is a wonderful cook! Our view out our room was the beach and it was wonderful to watch the sun set over the water. It was amazing and we took some great photo's. I also loved looking at the sky and seeing so many stars. Highly recommend this stay.

Exceptionally friendly hosts who go the extra mile to ensure a perfect stay. A well appointed and comfortable room (Tasman room) with wonderful views of the sea (and direct access). The high quality of the home-produced meals. Breakfast consists entirely of home-made produce (breads, jams, yoghurts) as well as a cooked option with freshly laid eggs from the hosts’ hens. At dinner-time, there is the option of eating a home-cooked meal in the guests’ dining room or outside on the terrace. There are also complimentary pre-dinner drinks with the hosts if desired, again with home-made canapés!

The place is spectacular, as are the host and hostess. Out of all of the locations we have stayed while in New Zealand, this has by far been the best. Elizabeth and Selwyn welcome you onto their home with open arms. The only thing better than the beautiful grounds is Elizabeth's cooking. We are definitely staying here again and would recommend this place to anyone going to the west side of the island.

Awatuna Sunset lodge is situated next to the beach and it’s aura was tantalizing even though we arrived in the midst of a raging storm. The warmth & care of Elizabeth & Selwyn more than made up for the cold, wet weather . We also enjoyed one of the most delicious meals whipped up by Elizabeth and shared many memorable stories in our short stay with them.

Our stay was way too short as we had a hectic schedule to fulfill . But we plan to stay longer in this wonderful place the next time we visit Hokitika

The Lodge is beautifully positioned overlooking the Tasman Sea just across the garden and beach. The rooms were very comfortable and spotless, meals (dinner and breakfast) lovely and our hosts, Elizabeth and Selwyn more welcoming than anyone could hope for, including joining us for pre-dinner drinks and nibbles. The spa pool was great, too.

It would have been great if it had rained less and the sun had shone more.

Lovely happy hour drinks and nibbles, Elizabeth cooked a beautiful dinner, and we finished off the night with a lovely spa overlooking the ocean - perfect!! Breakfast the next morning was amazing. Keep up the great work you have the recipe right in hospitality.

Location…….it is superb! Facilities; lacks for nothing and the sleeping arrangements guarantied a great nights sleep. . Our Hosts, Elizabeth and Selwyn, were exceptional; welcoming, informative; making us feel more like family than guests. Elizabeth’s culinary abilities are to be admired, and consumed, we enjoyed dinner on both evenings, beautifully served by Selwyn. Our stay was too short…

The whole setting was awesome nothing was a bother. Presented very well awesome and friendly the rooms and facilities were amazing very friendly hosts . Also went out of there way to make you feel at home Thank you Elizabeth and Selwyn for the most amazing time till we meet again in the future.

There was nothing wrong at all it was incredible.

the location is simply fantastic: isolated and looking at the sea. A quick walk through the creek will get you wet and ready to enjoy the sea waves, with no one else in sight (that is a loooong beach). the hot tub will keep you warm afterwards. the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel pampered.

Beautiful location overlooking the beach. Very comfortable. Fantastic hospitality from Elizabeth and Selwyn; they were were the most gracious and attentive hosts. Great food - dinners and breakfasts were superb. Easy parking. Short drive to Hokitika. Excellent all round.
