Incredibly good value. Surprised to find such a clean, comfortable, well-decorated room for the money (we booked last minute). Recently completely refurbished. Tea, coffee, biscuits- nice big mugs. Our only regret was that we didn’t eat there, as we’d originally intended. It was very busy indeed on that Sunday afternoon (we should have taken this as a sign) and we fancied a quiet drink, so crossed over to The Devonshire Arms and enjoyed one in a pleasant area. We then made the mistake of eating there, too, and had a really dreadful meal (they couldn’t even manage a good fish and chips). So, there is a reason for the crowds at The Wheatsheaf! We will, for sure, eat with you next time! Big car-park. Easy walk directly from there to Chatsworth. Manageress very welcoming.

The room was well laid out, clean and welcoming. Bathroom neat and in good working order. Friendly staff and a very good welcome with full health and safety instructions. Full selection of breakfasts and unlimited tea/coffee. Bar menu is comprehensive and served promptly in the evening.

The property is beside a busy main road so the traffic is continual with some heavy lorries. With the windows closed it's controllable. Don't be put off by this as Baslow is a pretty village.

We stayed at The Wheatsheaf during a hiking holiday in the Peak District. It is a charming country pub perfect for visitors who want to go to Chatsworth - you can walk directly from the pub in about 30 mins on a safe and quiet country lane to Chatsworth House. The room was very comfortable, the food was great and the staff were really helpful (we accidentally forgot our bag with our wallet etc downstairs during dinner and they kept it safe for us until the morning.) They also kindly kept hold of our bags after we checked out for a couple of hours while we went to visit Chatsworth. Price was very reasonable and would definitely recommend!

Our room was quite close to the road but the traffic noise didn't bother us at all personally

Everything was excellent however the one thing we missed was a lift as we had three heavy suitcases to take upstairs. We were aware of that when we booked and it would ruin the old hotel to do that and a young man helped us up with our cases. The atmosphere, room sizes, cleanliness, service and food were all excellent.

No lift but that was anticipated.

The manager Mike went above and beyond. Having had to cancel one of our rooms due to flood damage had no hesitation in arranging alternative accommodation for part of our party. What an amazing man. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival and throughout our stay. Food was lovely. Rooms spacious with high standard of cleanliness. Will definitely stay again. Will be recommending to family and friends. Great location for visiting Chatsworth Estate and Bakewell.

From check-in to check-out was superb. We were welcomed by a gentleman with a French accent who was particularly helpful, informative and very polite. Room was clean, tidy and functional although the shower head was broken. Quiet room and very comfortable bedding - slept very well. Breakfast was excellent. All together it made our trip to see friends in Sheffield and a walk around Chatsworth a most enjoyable experience.

Still a bit pricey.

The Food was excellent, served fast and hot. The room was very comfortable and clean.

some of the decor is showing its age and some of the windows are in dire need of replacing. The pub closed very early, maybe its the time of year but 9:00 pm is really too early.

Great location. Stayed here many, many times over the years as a couple, wth family. Grand children enjoy the garden facilities. Close to Chatsworth. Comfortable rooms. Food good & good value.

Never clear these last few visits when meals are stopped being served. Also when the bar closes.misleading on the web site. Disappointing & misleading....overall questionable.

Location, stayed before, free parking rooms looking fresher after there update from when we’ve stayed before. decent sized mugs in the bedrooms for a brew- got a big thumbs up. evening meals we had both days were really nice staff always helpful service good at meal times no issue with noise from the roads that’s been mentioned before of others- double glazing is an improvement and definitely helped. as long as people realise it’s main route , there will be traffic.

nothing that would stop us staying again; however WiFi could be a bit hit/miss pillows kept slipping down under headboard- bed could do with moving closer to wall or put something there(we did try move mattress but couldn’t) breakfast was good but having stayed before felt felt it was lacking this time. quality not quite as good. although I do know everyone is cutting back at the moment.

Lovely big comfortable room. Individual heating in room so we were able to choose how warm we wanted to be. Staff were lovely. Food was good pub food. Location was great as we were going to Chatsworth House and we were able to walk there from the pub . It was very icy and cold but the car park was gritted and salted every night.

Nothing not to like really. Only criticism would be that it was a little bit cold in the conservatory where we ate the first night.
