Luxurious hotel, excellent location, and wonderful staff. The views from the very clean room were stunning. Pool area is the main relaxing area and is very well maintained and the staff couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome and spoiled.

I thought it was a touch overpriced and no seating on the balcony

I cannot rate this hotel high enough. I had seen previous reviews so knew it would be good, but we were not expecting anything like what we experienced at the Dormero Hotel. We were greeted on our arrival by Franzi whose genuine smile and kindness shone out. Franzi seemed to manage the hotel in a unique way that was totally professional yet with a feeling that you were the only quests there. We were delighted to be upgraded and our room blew me away. It was totally luxurious and had everything we needed. Nothing was too much for the staff and we were met every day by smiling faces. Even the security guys were lovely and friendly. The breakfasts were delicious and the presentation had to be seen to be believed. We also ate in the restaurant a few times and the food was amazing. The pool area was lovely. Although we had a private garden area we did use the pool and it was peaceful and relaxing and plenty of sunbeds. The veiw of the surfers kept us entertained for hours and there was no shortage of beach bars and restaurants just outside the door. All in all, a fabulous stay in a hotel I will never forget, made even better by Franzi and the staff. Not forgetting Kiki the dog who I fell in love with 😍

Many thanks to Franziska and Kiki for making us feel like home thousands of miles away. Kindness, smiles, responsiveness and attentiveness of these girls will not leave anyone indifferent :) We would also like to mention the incredible staff of the hotel - you will always be treated with attention and incredibly delicious food :) Very sad to leave this corner of paradise, we will miss you very much! Absolutely Outstanding Experience! Our stay at the Dormero Hotel in Sri Lanka was nothing short of amazing! The staff here is truly the best we have ever encountered – attentive, friendly, and always going above and beyond to ensure a perfect experience. The hotel itself is stunning, with a fantastic ambiance and exceptional hospitality. Without even asking, they graciously upgraded our room because there was availability – such a thoughtful gesture that made our trip even more special. Breakfast was an absolute highlight – delicious, varied, and beautifully presented. The top manager deserves special recognition for being incredibly kind, approachable, and helpful throughout our stay. Thank you, Dormero Hotel, for creating such unforgettable memories for us. We will definitely return and highly recommend it to everyone!

A wonderful hotel with wonderful staff. It only opened in March but it was very homely and comfortable. Our bedroom was enormous with stunning views of the sea. The pool was perfect and because it is a relatively small hotel, 11 rooms and a penthouse, there wasn’t a problem getting a sun bed regardless of time of day. No towels on sunbeds at sunrise here. Breakfast was good, great juice, fresh fruit and breads to accompany the cooked dishes. I would definitely recommend this hotel for quality and position as there were so many restaurants close by. And loved Kiki the hotel dog who was so sweet.

Absolutely loved everything.

Our stay at Dormero Hikkaduwa was nothing short of magical, and we owe a great deal of that to the incredible Franziska. From the moment we arrived, she went above and beyond to ensure that every detail of our stay was perfect. The warm welcome, personalized touches, and constant care made us feel truly special. The hotel itself is top notch. Our room had breathtaking views, was impeccably clean, and was beautifully decorated. So much so that we spent most of our time in Hikkaduwa relaxing in the room! Every corner of the hotel exudes luxury and comfort. We enjoyed every meal, every relaxing moment, and every interaction with the staff. Franziska's attention to detail and genuine warmth set the tone for an unforgettable experience. She made us feel like the most important guests in the hotel. Her thoughtful gestures, such as the surprise champagne and the romantic room setup, added a layer of enchantment to our stay.

Cocktails could be improved. Breakfast service was also slightly slow if there were more than a handful of tables.

Wonderful, tastefully decorated hotel. Lots of attention to detail. Cozy, quiet and clean. The hotel is in a busy area, but it doesn't feel it inside at all. The room we stayed in has the option of sliding the glass windows and forming a common space with a terrace. All you have in front of you is the ocean. Arriving from the airport is really easy - almost the entire way is on a toll highway. The hotel staff is extremely pleasant and kindly. I'm not even talking about Francesca. She's amazing!!! Thank you for the early check in and late check out. I haven't had a tastier breakfast in those regions. Even the espresso was good, which is rare in Sri Lanka or I haven't been in right places. Be sure to try the massage. Something unique.

I would like to thank our host Franzi, Kiki and the rest of the team for treating us with the upmost respect and kindness. The wonderful staff was very attentive and made everyone feel at home at all times. Everything has been taken care of from the day we arrived to when we left. Breakfast was fantastic with a lot of varieties. Everything was freshly made with passion and love. Franzi would occasionally give us a ride with the tuktuk when going out, or in need of a quick transport. Her driving skills are simply unmatched and deserves mentioning. The days felt nice and long as the property offers a safe space to retreat from the busy, chaotic roads further south, making you enjoy every second at the property more. Stunning views from all corners into the vast ocean with unforgettable sunsets leave you speechless. Our trip through SriLanka was rapidly transformed from an adventurous busy holiday to a perfect relaxing safe space with direct access to the beach. Leaving this place makes me extremely sad but I am hoping to return soon again to spend some more quality time with the wonderful people I’ve met here, and can call friends. Stunning, brand-new, incredibly friendly hotel. First of all, this property looks exactly like it is in the pictures: private, luxurious, comfortable, and beautiful. There are only 11 rooms including the superior room with a huge terrace. All rooms have balconies or terraces, so you can enjoy your time looking at the beach and ocean waves or busy and funny Hikka’s streets. In your room, you will have everything you might possibly need. You won’t want to leave that bed, it's so comfortable and was made for your best sleep. The pool is big and clean, you will have plenty of options for where to get your tan: on big beds, on covered or open chaise lounges, on the grass, or near the pool. The territory itself isn't that big, but it's well taken care of, clean and functional. You can get access to the 360• view terrace or enjoy some time in the gym. There is a bar and a kitchen for your comfort, you should definitely get some milkshakes and Caesar salad! We have walked near almost every hotel on Hikkaduwa’s beaches and even big, branded and famous ones aren’t even close to Dormero. As for breakfast, you can get a traditional one or choose one of many options, including omelets, bowls, sandwiches, waffles, and many more. No matter what you choose, it will be delicious. And it is very hard to even start talking about personnel. Everyone there has only one goal: to make your stay as good as possible. There are some securities, who constantly check on the property’s safety; barmen, who will make you the best cocktails; cleaners, who will clean up the room every day… And Franziska! What an angel! She will help you with ANYTHING, she will become the best hotel manager in your life, you won’t want to leave just because of her 🥹 We loved them all! (Also, there is a cute dog Kiki and monitor lizard that checks on you while you are getting sunbaths ☺️ ).

Nothing I think, that Monitor Lizard is getting paid enough because it didn't let us pet it. Also, if the hotel had a spa, we wouldn't leave it even if we were asked to.

This hotel is, with no doubt, the best hotel in Hikkaduwa (and probably in Sri Lanka) The location is perfect, the rooms are amazing (well organised, incredible views, all the amenities you can need, soft towels, good coffee and tea…), the breakfast is the best one we have had in Sri Lanka (awesome!!!), the pool is fantastic and the staff is the best that the hotel keeps…thanks to Franzi for all the recommendations, attentions and care ❤️). We really didn’t want to come back home 🥹. The relation quality-price can’t be better and I do not understand yet why the hotel just keeps 5 stars! Should be at least 6! Really, the best place in Sri Lanka for relaxing, surfing or enjoying the sun. We will be back as soon as we can Thanks!!!
