Riff Hikkaduwa connects everything we have ever wanted from a hotel. The food served in all three restaurants was excellent. You could even try local Sri Lankan cuisine. The staff was super friendly and professional. Our room (Presidential Suite) was spacious, comfortable and well-equipped We had a breathtaking infinity pool on the balcony with a great view of the Indian Ocean.

We liked the room and the view, the restaurants, the placement by the beach and the staff, all of the staff where exeptional, we had an extra connection with Benisha who fixed a birthdaycake and who we had good conversation with trough out the stay and Nuwan, the last night we had forgot to reserve a table and we wanted to sit outside, so he fixed us a table on the top restaurant with the menu from the ground floor restaurant, this was super service and top problemsolving, made our last dinner memorable. Goverment taxes is put on top of the price that you will se in Booking.com this is highly unusual and I think that its the best to just write the total price right away, tourists just want to know how much they are going to pay pr night and not to where the money is distributed.

The Riff exceeded my expectations massively. I have stayed in many hotels worldwide, and this was my favorite by far. The location is stunning, looking at the beautiful beach and ocean below. The quality of food in the hotel was outstanding, and every meal was fantastic. The staff was the fundamental reason my family and I enjoyed the hotel so much. All staff members were friendly and were attentive to our every need. The facilities were excellent; the pool overlooked the beach and was perfect for the warm climate. The rooms were clean, and the cleaning staff was flexible in the hours you wished them to clean your room. We met the owner of the hotel, who was warm and friendly and chatted with us over breakfast. It is truly an outstanding hotel in every aspect, and we will be returning next year!

There was nothing I did not like; my point is more constructive criticism. The hotel holds some events for entertainment. For example, during our stay, there was a cultural night. A notice board in reception with events happening in the hotel would allow guests to know what is happening and plan accordingly.

Everything was great. A Little more extensive than other places but definitely worth every cent. Give yourself a treat and choose this place! The beach is one of the most beautiful beaches at the whole west coast. We did several beach walks and this beach was the only one that was so clean and nice. All the facilities (pool, gym, restaurant …) are very clean and well maintained. The staff was extremely nice and courteous. There is a pool boy taking good care of all the sunbeds, bringing you towels and fresh drinking water every time. Housekeeping takes care of your room twice a day. At the evening they lower the window blinds, refill your drinking water and prepare your bed for sleeping. The best thing was the breakfast. Unbelievable what huge of a choice you get and you can order as much as you want. Everything was really tasty and normally we are very picky about the breakfast offered by hotels. We got a free early check in. We have been treated the perfect way.

I travel 200 days a year, I see many hotels and it doesn’t happen too often, but there is really nothing to complain about at this hotel.

We loved the property. The room was spacious, the balcony had a great view. The large window between the room and the balcony did a great insulation job. The room had great under ceiling space as well. The bed was very comfortable and wide. We had room service one night and we really enjoyed the service. The bathroom had free toiletries. The staff was EXTREMELY friendly and attentive - delivering glass bottles of water as often as needed free of charge, making fresh breakfast à la carte with a delicious set of items from Sri Lanka & continental.

Nothing at all! Just dot forget your mosquitoes spray.

The rooms were super nice with an amazing view. The bathroom is very modern and bright. The service personell was super nice and welcoming at every touchpoint. The beach is lovely, great for long beach walks as it is endless.

Some people seemed to smoke on their balcony, so sometimes there was a bad smoking smell on our balcony too. It would be nice if there is a smoking prohibition for the whole hotel. Also the waves are brutal sometimes - so it was not safe to go into the ocean when we were there. But: There is a lovely bay (20 minutes beachwalk) where you can go swimming safely. Just good to know.

First of all you need to understand that there is “season” and “off-season” . Season = you can use hotel beach . Off season = you must go ( 20 minutes or 5 minutes by tuk-tuk ) to Turtle beach so you can swim ! It’s really important to understand. So about hotel food was incredible, breakfast + lunch + dinner ( plus rooftop restaurant with sushi ) was amazing. Personal was kind and helpful. We arranger a trip to some kind of river from hotel - they provided good and professional driver and our trip went marvellous! Good exchange rate from US dollar ! We had presidental suite and in our opinion it was very good room with all you needed ( including your own pool ) . Highly recommend to visit this place .

As I mentioned you should understand season and off season thing. And most terrible thing we had in Riff Hikkaduwa hotel is that sometimes we had tap water in refilled glass bottles ( in Sri Lanka almost all hotels do glass bottles with water that they refill for you ) so as I mentioned we had TAP water in our room sometimes . I mean we had 4 bottles of water and 1 or 2 of them sometimes was filled with terrible water . We didn’t say that at check out since we didn’t want to proof anything . But if we close eyes to this disaster hotel is highly recommended by us .

Absolutely loved my stay. From beginning to end, all of the staff are amazing, so accommodating. I had a room upgrade to an amazing suite (it was low season but still, was very generous of the manager) and the staff from day one till 4 could not have been more invested in my having a great stay. I always book hotels who have an excellent satisfaction score as service is so important to me, and this hotel didn’t let me down at all 👍🏾 In June, you cannot go in the sea as its so rough, but sat on the beach or balcony watching & listening to the dramatic waves is unreal. Food is good. Breakfast plentiful & good options. Did a safari trip & my driver was so lovely & chatty. (I did Yala safari via the hotel, as there are lots of different animals & not just elephants) Overall I had one of the best hotel experiences ever - and I have stayed in many countries as a solo traveller Thank you Riff - I will highly recommend you and hope to visit again.

There is nothing not to like

Loved everything about the property. Excellent stay. We will return.

The only issue we had was with other guests ‘reserving’ the limited number of loungers near the pool or in the shade. The hotel staff didn’t seem to mind if guests reserved a lounger for hours at a time without using it. In some cases, even leaving the resort property with the lounge chair ‘reserved’ with a towel and a hat. If people just used them when they wanted them, they would always be available. I wish the staff had intervened. This happened every day of our stay, was pretty aggravating. I believe Riff Hotel should revisit their policy on this.

An exceptionally beautiful hotel and very well located. This hotel really has everything you need for a Sri Lanka vacation. The rooms with a sea view are unique. What we liked most were the people there. The staff are very friendly and you always feel well looked after. The beautiful roof terrace deserves a mention. There you can enjoy the evenings and enjoy the breathtaking view of the entire beach of Hikkaduwa. We will definitely be back next year.
