Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful: modern and stylish decor, very clean and comfortable, much more spacious than I expected. Fantastic location for the Hauptbahnhof, and also very quiet. Self-serve coffee machine in reception is a fantastic idea, I also liked the availability of drinks from a fridge near the front desk for when the bar was closed.

The only (minor) downside was being able to hear (too clearly!) another guest being sick in their bathroom, while I was in my bathroom. But happily, my room had both a door to the bathroom and another door from the entryway to the bedroom, so this was a minor and short-lived inconvenience as could hear nothing once both doors were closed and I was happily in my super-comfy bed. All part of the Oktoberfest experience perhaps, ha ha! ;)

Location was very convenient, close to the central train station and easy walking distance to the plaza. Our room wasn’t ready when we arrived, but the front desk held our bags for us and had them delivered and waiting in our room when we came back.

Upon check in, the front desk agent confirmed our rooms and said “with breakfast”, so I assumed that breakfast was included. The next morning, there was no attendant at breakfast so we started preparing a plate. As soon as we were about to sit, the attendant appeared, asked for our room number, then told us breakfast was NOT included and we would have to pay 22 Euro per person. Most of my dinners on my trip did not cost that much and were much more substantial than a croissant, cheese, and slices of meat. I would have NEVER paid 44 Euro for that breakfast, the miscommunication was highly frustrating.

It's close to the train station and located on a quiet street which is all I can ask for. A bit far from the old town core. But has plenty of local restaurant options around. The room was well equipped, with a nice sofa.

Not a major issue but - the hotel asks to hold a deposit when borrowing an umbrella from the hotel, but not very good at tracking the returns... We didn't get charged in the end but had a feeling that the front desk wasn't putting anything on record when we returned the umbrellas. Not a big deal as it all gets clarified quickly at the check-out.

The location to the main train station was ideal . The staff at the hotel were very helpful by recommending the Lufthansa express bus for our return to the airport. It was about a 12 minute walk from the hotel .

Good, central location. Super close to train station. Has all the amenities I needed. Cute hotel with coffee and tea available in the lobby 24 hours. Fantastic front desk clerk that works evenings.

Loved the property, however there’s currently construction going on across the street that can be loud in the morning, especially if you have the window open.

The Metropol was the perfect place for spending a few days in Munich. Just minutes from the central train station (south side), and within easy walking distance to the old city through either the Sendlinger or Karlsplatz gates and to the Tollwood/Oktoberfest site. The staff was amazingly friendly and helpful, the building modern and meticulously cleaned and maintained, our room spacious and well lit, the bed wide and comfortable. The attached bathroom was a bit cramped but with a nice shower stall and great water pressure. While the TV stations were almost all in German, we enjoyed nice music through the radio receiver (via a small button on the wall). The free coffee/tea/espresso machine available 24/7 in the lobby was a great feature we really enjoyed. We never noticed the construction noise some reviewers complained about. This hotel would be a perfect 10 if not for the slow internet (see below).

The internet connection was agonizingly slow, making even basic tasks such as checking in to our flight nearly impossible. In this day and age, this is unacceptable. Bitte, Herr Maier, please invest in a fast internet connection for your hotels!

The staff was great. The buffet breakfast was more than adequate, and I liked that they had the small "beer" pretzels and veal sausage. The room 202 was fine for one person, maybe small for 2, but nicely appointed. It faced the street. There was good street food south of the hotel. The hotel has a policy to not perform room service (make beds, change towels, etc.) - which was fine by me. If I needed a new towel or other supplies, they were available in the hall. Hotel does have an elevator. 45-minute ride from München-Flughafen on the S1 or S8 S-Bahn to the Hauptbahnhof (Munich Hbf) rail station. 13 euros. When going back to the airport, make sure you get on the rear cars of the S1 train - because it will split at Neufahrn; the front cars will continue to Freising; the rear cars will continue to the airport. S8 goes direct based on what I researched. Walkable to Marienplatz and other center city attractions.

Unfortunately, there is a major construction project going on across the street, and it is noisy during work hours. There is not much the Metropol can do about it. I suspect this construction will be going on throughout the rest of the year based on what I saw. Some of the ethnic neighborhoods several streets south of the hotel might bother some folks but I found the street food available at them to be wonderful, including the variety of doner kabob available.

Convenient location near the Central train station. Access to the U and S Bahn and train system made travel in the city easy. Room was quiet despite construction across the street. The room facilities were adequate. Liquid soap/shampoo provided for the showers. Small bathroom was clean and the shower was excellent with good hot water. Walking in the neighbourhood was safe in the evenings to and from the Train station.

We were locked into the 3 nights we stayed at the property. The property had been booked months in advance and paid in advance. We decided after arrival that we only needed 2 nights at the hotel. There was no ability to get a partial refund. The property stated it was due to their arrangement with Booking.com. I have not had that problem on previously occasions using Booking, when plans change during travel. House keeping was not provided for 3 days we were there with self service items available at locations in hotel if need arose.

Our room was comfortable and we enjoyed our three night stay. The bathroom was a bit small, but certainly adequate. The hotel's central location - basically across the street from the train station - was great. Marienplatz was a 15 minute walk, subway nearby. The neighborhood was interesting with plenty of shops and restaurants. Although the area was quite busy, our room was exceptionally quiet. The hotel staff was amazing; very helpful and actually funny. They went out of their way to make you feel at home. The little bar in the lobby was a nice gathering place before/after our excursions into the Old Town. Book early to get the best rates!

We'd been there two years earlier and a major part of the neighborhood was under construction then! A dilapidated parking garage (I think) next door was being (slowly) worked on. I couldn't tell if they were tearing it down or renovating it. The scaffolding in the area made it a bit hard to locate the hotel the first time, especially at night, but you get used to it - not really bad at all. When are they ever going to finish the Munich Hauptbahnhof?? It's really an embarrassment to the city.
