The staff were super attentive and helpful and everything was very good.

The parking in (the side road of) Capri Road is a nightmare with the neighbour, who employed the security guards who bullies/intimdates the Sonnekus Guests, on where to park in Capri Rd, as parking is very limited in Capri Rd. The Police had to be called to discipline the Capri Security Guards and the Capri Rd owner of 2 x neighbouring properties. I/We (family & friends, for future bookings), hope that this Capri Rd owner will listen/comply wholeheartedly to Sonnekus' multiple requests per Guest, to be nice/friendly/polite/mannered/respectful,helpful, etc and not otherwise.

Pretty much ticked all of the boxes for us. The location is perfect for seeing a lesser know part of Cape Town. As locals, there so much we could also see and do. The ocean, restaurants and sites nearby. We stayed over a rainy weekend and we were more than happy to stay indoors. The room was spacious, beds were comfortable, room facilities with added extras were appreciated and the indoor fireplace was the cherry on top. Highly recommended for locals and international guests. We’ll be back for our next staycation!

None whatsoever.

Fantastically located in St James with a quick walk (1km) down to Kalk Bay, this was perfect for us. We felt very safe, found parking easily right outside on the street. The breakfast was phenomenal and the staff went out of their way to cater for our needs. The room was cozy and they have thought of everything, from in room snack options (paid extra) to a beach bag and towels and warm gowns and hot water bottles for the winter. We don’t know why this guest house isn’t 5 Star. It was fantastic.

Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay during our stay in Cape Town.. Sonnekus was truly a place where the sun kisses the hotel. The view itself was magically with the beach being right across the road. The location is very convenient as well to go in to the downtown areas as well as travelling to Cape of good hope or all the way to the garden route up to the east coast of cape town. The wine country drive is very convenient as well.so overall if you hire a car, travelling around will be very convenient. They also have a convenient car park. The food was another notch and breakfast was amazing and refreshing. However there are also several places also for exploring nearby for food Finally the highlight of our stay was the team/staff. Very humble and honest set of staff who are extremely helpful and always available for any support and information. The conversation about their background and their inputs to plan our days was very helpful. This was definately one of our best accomodation and looking forward for another chance to stay again in the near future..

- Breakfast was great. - Staff were always willing to assist. - Ntombi was able to secure a more private room on the day we arrived as Room 1 was too close to the entrance and would have been very disturbing. - Constant comms via Whatsapp was efficient through out the stay.

- Not enough surface area in the rooms to put bags/clothing etc down. - Space planning for some of the items were not practical - position of the fridge/tea/coffee station. - Needed more surface area in the bathroom - small table would have worked. - The lock on the door did not work. - Noisy in the mornings with the kitchen below the room. Neighbouring rooms are also fairly noisy. - Carpet could have done with a vacuum more regularly.

This hotel was fantastic - it was clean, comfortable, tastefully decorated, charming, staff were AMAZING, food was great, wine was great, cookie and candy jars were great - everything was great! My room faced the sea and it didn’t keep me awake at all - I wanted the sound to fall asleep to. The hotel is on the main road and you hear some traffic but light sleepers should just bring ear plugs. It didn’t keep me awake. We were there in spring and the weather was warm during the day but nights cool. My room had a fireplace which they lit for me one evening and also provided hot water bottles too. My friend’s room didn’t have a fireplace but she had water bottles and was warm enough. It’s an old house and that is part of the charm but they do a great job making you comfortable! I saw 3 different rooms while there, all tastefully decorated and comfortable. The staff - Seeya, Mamouna, Ntombi - were all just lovely and took great care of us, serving great cappuccinos and delicious eggs with avo and greens prepared just as we asked, all with a smile and nice conversation. You can walk to Kalk Bay and Uber is easy to use for getting around the area. Our last evening we bought a bottle of wine and drank it on the beach just across the street - was a perfect end to a short, beautiful stay. Thank you Team Sonnekus!

Nothing!

I loved Sonnekus! I booked a different room but was upgraded to a beautiful sea facing room. Staff were amazing and went out of their way to assist with absolutely everything! I booked an in room massage which was out of this world. Honestly my new favourite getaway spot and I'll definitely be back with my husband.

I was in room 3 and just found the bathroom to be quite dark but everything else was so great that I don't even think it's worth complaining about.

Convenient location. Very nice building and rooms, a bit of a Cuba vibe to the place. Staff works hard to service guests. Great breakfast.

We had booked two superior rooms with sea views for our family of five with an extra bed for the kids’ room but were placed in two standard double rooms without room for the extra bed. Luckily, they had an extra room we could use. However, it would have been better if we were given the rooms we actually had booked. Not sure if hotel or bookings is the root cause of this. Would be a full 10 if this had not occurred.

The hotel was amazing to stay in. The rooms feel like a homey getaway with view of the ocean. The amenities were spacious and stylish. The bed was super comfortable and there were little gimmicks such as a bell for cake service. The bistro is the perfect addition for a relaxed lunch or breakfast with view and sounds of the ocean. The location also served well for dipping into the sea and going out to Kalk Bay.

Our tub was a bit sandy but as the season did not scream for a bath, it was nothing we were bothered by.

The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The room I was assigned had no view but was warm and cozy, beautifully decorated and luxurious. The food is heavenly! JC makes the best pesto gnocchi ever! The staff really are on a level seldom found, professional, compassionate, warm and friendly. I had a family crisis, the care and support I received from everyone helped me through an incredibly tough time. I look forward to returning with my spouse, enjoying a relaxing holiday and creating happy memories. Thank you Nono and Siya, see ya soon!!

I did not like the on street parking, but it really is the norm in the area, and the team do their level best to ensure there is always a spot available nearby.
