The hotel is located in the town of Akumal, a 15min walk away from the beach. The personnel is very friendly, welcoming and willing to assist you in selecting offers to explore the natural wonders of the region. The room was nice and clean. The breakfast consisted of a toast with jam, which was small but very good. The wonderful rooftop offers a great view of the region, an outdoor kitchen and a small pool, which is illuminated at night.
Due to natural protection and shoreline development you cannot get to the beach for free. You can either enter trough the Tsuuk akumal (small fee for a center with lockers, changing rooms and showers) or the Hotel Akumal Caribe (where you would have to eat/drink at the LOL-Ha restaurant/bar). Then you can go to the beach and into the sea but only certain sections, since you cannot swim with turtles just on your own. To do so, you have to be accompanied by a local guide. You can either book one along the street to the beach, at the Akumal dive center or via the hotel reception who also know local guides who are certified. The hotel is not in the main part of the town which is quite simple and not on the beach. To get to the beach you always have to overcross the highway on a bridge.

The staff were exceptional. They were so warm, and friendly, going above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed our stay. The pool and rooftop was wonderful. The facilities were clean and quiet. High attention to detail with diffusers (not over powering at all). The location was good. Kitchen area was very well equipped. The laundry service was a huge bonus. Highly recommend this hostel. Shoutout to juani, Eduardo and Aldair for wonderful service and even helped us practice Spanish.
Ultimately very accessible to beach but Note that it was a 15 minute walk. The town was a lowkey locals town. Everyone in the town was very nice, however there wasn’t a lot of tourists. Personally, We enjoyed that aspect. There was nothing that we didn’t like.

We had a double room with bathroom at the hostel We were met by the owner/manager, the check in was uncomplicated and easy. There is a big kitchen downstairs, that the guesst may use and a tiny pool on rooftop. The room, although quite small was very clean and the huge double bed was really soft and comfortable. That was the best bed we had on our Yucatan-trip (8 different accomodations). We asked for an extra blanket and cloth hangers and got them directly! Nicely decorated, moskito net for the window. The bathroom was OK, flush and shower working. We also used the laundry service at the hotel, that was quick and good. The location absolutely perfect in Akumal for visiting Tumal or Coba ruins. Akumal is a sweet, pretty local village with some selection of local restaurants and small shops. We really enjoed our time there.
We didn´t had any hot water and although we were told we would get coffee and pancakes in the morning, that didnt´t work on "our" morning.

Amazing experience! If I could I would give more than 5 stars. A little authentic gem in the touristic riviera Maya. 5 minutes walking from the colectivos that connect Akumal with Tulum and Playa del Carmen, 15 minutes walking from the famous Playa Akumal and 5 minutes walking from the amazing Cenote Balam Ha. Staff is extremely kind and will provide you with all the info you need about transports, other playas to visit, snorkleng, diving etc (English and Spanish speaker). The rooms are spacious with silent airco and hot water in the shower. On the rooftop a beautiful swimming pool where to look at the sunset in all the quietness!

Itza hotel is really a special place, a home away from home. I actually came back to stay longer. It's well placed in the town of Akumal. The beach is walking distance but you can also rent bikes. Kitchen has everything you need to cook. Very nice terrace and pool. The staff is incredibly nice and different activities are organized so it's easy to meet other travellers. Akumal itself is really a charming little town, with murals, a cenote, and a dedicated group of people working to conserve the culture and nature of Akumal - I would really recommend doing the half day tour of Akumal with Jairo, which you can ask for at reception.

Dorm bed was super comfortable, nice big locker, clean bathrooms, amazing rooftop pool and view. Can not say enough good things about the staff though - I stayed for 10 nights and they made me feel almost like part of the family. Lara, Gabriel, Romina, Jairo, Lola, Milli, and the rest of the team - thank you for an absolutely wonderful stay!!
Occasionally the water would stop working for parts of the day, wasn't a big deal

We had a private room with a king bed and private bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, everything was very clean. We liked that we could use the hostel kitchen to store our food in the fridge. Reception was great, easy and very welcoming. The rooftop pool was beautiful and although we didn't use it, we did spend some time in the evening on the rooftop with the nice views and breeze. We parked our rental car right outside on the street, where the nice receptionist, Lulu, said it would be safe. We enjoyed walking around the small town and got a beer at a local place. People in the town were very friendly.

I really like how friendly the place is, you can just sit and chat on cozy couches, with cute animals hanging out, book a dive or snorkel adventure or just read. It’s clean and has lots of well thought out features, like a little bed light you can take with you if you wake up at night but don’t want to use the main light; excellent wifi. Breakfast is absolutely delicious and served in the beautiful rooftop; perfect start of the day. Welcoming owner. 10 min walk to a gorgeous quiet beach and great food places.
It’s a bit noisy on the street but I guess they can’t do anything about that. Just bring earplugs

One of few places to stay in the town part of akumal. good location, friendly staff, nice pancakes and coffee in the morning, comfortable rooms with good showers. Roof top area is pretty nice, with a clean pool and lot of space to hang out. More of a hostel vibe than hotel, so every chance to be social if you want.
Nothing really. The water was off a few times on separate days, but that seemed to be a city-problem, not hotel-problem.

The fact that they supply a breakfast is fantastic. Toast or pancakes cereal. Coffee juice. Fruit. All the options. Not fancy but good food which is more important. The bed was very comfortable. The pool was large by hotel standards and was clean. There was a community kitchen on the main floor but we did not use it so can not comment but it looked nice. It can is well located on the colonial side of the highway. Close to lots for good local restaurants
I can not think of a thing they could improve on. Everything was great.
