The location was amazing, the staff were all very friendly and very helpful! The location has 2 pools, is very close to the beach (3min walk) that includes free towels and chairs, it's directly across from an amazing Cuban Café and small store featuring delicious food and coffee starting at 7am, an ice cream truck on the premises, and adjacent to the Tipsy Rooster whose bartenders were awesome, drinks were delightful, and very good live music daily. It's just far enough away to not be in the "thick-of-it" but close enough to walk everywhere (rent a golf cart/scooter/bicycle or Uber/taxi)

The only thing was the weak shower pressure, but that won't keep us away!

Location was perfect, price was fair, small breakfast enough to get you through to lunch, close to major attractions where you could walk, clean rooms, mini fridge was nice in room with microwave and coffee pot.

Bathroom was small but shower 🚿 was decent size. Room small but didn't matter as you were out of the room doing things most of the time.

We would absolutely return to the Southwinds! The entire staff's vibe was happy, respectful, and helpful. The location is perfect for getting to the sunrises by foot and a straight scoot to the other side of the island for sunset. I liked the quiet of the area, as we were able to visit the Southernmost buoy every night without lines, or even car traffic. And we went by foot and scooter, depending on our mood.

No fault of anyone's but the water pressure is always a problem for me as I like to be power washed. Not a reflection on the motel one bit, though.

Very friendly staff. Check in was quick. Room was very clean. Great location. Bed was amazingly comfortable! The bar with live music going all day was great for relaxing and the mini donuts food truck was delicious!!

Bathroom was nice size but absolutely no shelves or anywhere to put toiletries. There is plenty of wall space they could put something there to accommodate. And, well, the roosters constantly crowing was annoying but nothing can be done about that!

The Southwinds was exactly what our family was looking for--an old school type of accommodation that was affordable, clean and walkable to the things we wanted to see. We loved going to the South Beach, a five minute walk, as well as the Southernmost buoy. The ice cream truck on the property was so much fun and there was a small grocery store across the street as well as a bar with music at the hotel. Loved the resident iguanas and roosters. The continental breakfast was perfect---great grab and go items that were a great start for our days of adventure. We would love to return to this fun spot that was a backdrop for some wonderful family memories.

For our family, everything was fantastic.

The location of our room was great! Our outdoor chairs faced the street. We sat outside a lot! Most of the staff were exceptional. However, all the other staff were exceptional. Our doorknob was wobbly, and the young lady working, she sent maintenance over right away and he was friendly and fast. Karen that was working Tuesday morning was able to let us stay in our same room so we wouldn't have to move. Our room was clean and fresh. We never used the pools, but they looked nice! The coffee at the free breakfast was great! We don't really eat breakfast, but it always looked clean and replenished. TY for a wonderful stay in Key West! Loved the location too!!

When I went to try to book another night, the young man working in the evening said, sorry we are fully booked but I was able to book through Booking.com no problem. However, the A/C seemed to struggle in the daytime.

Check-in was easy, with a map of the property provided. Room was big enough for a short stay (we were there for 6 nights and lived out of our suitcases as there wasn't much storage space). Room was clean enough, though fixtures and fittings were dated. Great location in a generally quieter area, though near enough to a range of decent restaurants. The busier part of Key West is a good walk away, though we only resorted to using the free Duval Loop bus on one occasion, after a long day on our feet. Easy parking close to the room. Didn't get chance to use the pool, but saw others using it, and it looked fine. Breakfast is basic but plenty good enough. You just go to the reception area between 07:00 & 09:00 and take what you want back to the room, which worked fine for us.

The motel buildings are showing signs of age and lack of maintenance in some areas. The room decor, fixtures and fittings are dated and in need of modernisation. The price was bearable given the ridiculous prices charged on Key West in general, but still worked out at $370 / £293 per night, which is a lot for a basic motel.

Most importantly, the hotel is clean. It is in a good location to go to Key West attractions. It also has a nice outdoor bar/liquor store and an ice cream/donut stand. The staff were nice. I didn't eat breakfast at the hotel, but the continental breakfast did look good. The muffins appeared to be homemade.

The outdoor lighting is very bright, so the rooms are very bright at night. It was bright enough to throw off my internal clock, and I would sometimes stay awake for a couple of hours in the middle of the night. Window shades would be a nice addition. There was no dresser in the room. I like to unpack my bags if I'm staying for a few nights.

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION THIS IS WHY WEE STAY THERE, ONE BLOCK FROM DOWN TOWN. TINY LITTLE ROOMS, 18 INCH TABLE TO EAT ON. NO VANITY JUST A LITTLE TRAVEL TRAILER SINK IN BATHROOM. THE SHOWER WAS HARD TO GET HOT WATER BECAUSE IT LEAKED OUT OF THE BACK OF KNOB. I TOLD THEM BUT THEY DID NOT CARE. ROOMHAD NO PLACE TO KEEP LUGGAGE, SMALL SMALLROOMS. I ASKED HOW TO GET TO THE MALLORY SQUARE, ABOUT 1 1/2 MILES AWAY. I NEED TRANSPERTATION, I AM AN OLD DISABLED VET. SHE SAID WALK WITH A SMIRKY SMILE ON HER FACE, SO WE DID NOT MAKE IT. BREAKFAST WAS A JOKE, HARD BOILED EGGS, CEREAL AND A PASTERY. COFFEE. WE STAYED THERE BEFORE BUT THE ROOMS KEEP LOOKING SMALLER. DO NOT THINK WE WILL GO BACK AGAIN. OH, THE BEST PART WAS THEY HAD A BAR RIGHT OUT FRONT WITH ENTERTAINMENT, SOME GOOD ANDSOME BAD. HE ASK FORREQUEST, HE DID NOT KNOW ANY BOB SEGER, JOURNEY, QUEEN, ONLY ONE JIMMY BUFFETT. PRICY BUT IN A GOOD SPOT ONE BLOCK FROM ALL OF THE MAIN TOWN.

HELP US FIND A WAY TO GO SEE THE SIGHTS WITHOUT TELLING ME TO WALK. ROOMS WAY WAY WAY TOOOOOOO SMALL TINY LITTLE SINK NO VANITY TO PUT STUFF ON. LEAKY SHOWER HANDLES. TINY LITTLE 18 INCH TABLE FOR MY COMPUTER AND TO EAT ON.

A group of 8 of us were in town to scatter my husband's ashes in the beautiful waters of Key West. I want a quiet motel, close to Duval, but not too crowded with tourists. Soutwind provided the perfect location for us to celebrate my husband's life. Having a bar on premises was a GREAT plus! Christine at the Tipsy Rooster was a perfect host to get our celebration started and to close out the night. Enjoyed the live music too!

Singles rooms were a bit small. But my guests all raved about the huge bathrooms! I stayed in a double. My only č̣complaint was the too soft mattress. Oh, a microwave in the breakfast area would've been nice.
