We celebrated our wedding anniversary at Tenuta Casteani and had a thoroughly wonderful stay. From early communication at booking through to arrival and our time on the wine resort, the staff were excellent and attentive. Our overall goals was to relax, disconnect from day-to-day life and reconnect as a couple after a stressful few months - mission accomplished on all fronts! We actually extended our stay by another two nights and were very glad to have - most other visitors seemed to stay for a shorter time but we were perfectly happy for a week. The pool is a good size (there are actually 2) with great views over the valleys. Daily pool maintenance cleaned the water and the floor, meaning the pool was good to go. A selection of chairs/loungers and umbrellas means you can (and we did) spend an entire day by the poolside. Take sandals though, as the floor is a lovely but bumpy stone/tile. The wine from the resort was wonderful - I particularly enjoyed the Terra di Casteani and the use of a home-made sparkling wine for a twist on the Aperol Spritz was great to enjoy in the afternoons. Regional access is great, with mainline trains from Grosseto to Pisa/Firenze and Rome, meaning easy access for day trips. A short-ish drive from Tuscan highlights of Siena/Volterra, as well as the thermal baths in the region. We hired a car from Fiumicino Airport and drove (2h30) but you could just as easily hire in Grosseto and/or arrange a taxi transfer, though we'd recommend a car hire else you're a bit isolated. It is important to remember that this is a working agriturismo/wine resort and not a "hotel"; as such, some creature comforts like a bar aren't in place. That being said we were well taken care of and the staff were super attentive. We are the type of couple that likes to try somewhere new, but we would absolutely stay at Tenuta Casteani again; even taking our young daughter who would enjoy the grounds.

The air conditioning within the room was adequate but could be better given the intense heat of a Tuscan summer, but this doesn't detract from the overall stay and our room was cool enough for the most part - just remember to close the blinds in the afternoon to stop the sun heating the room! The driveway was rough and bouncy - good car suspension needed (we had a hire Fiat 500) but the team clearly recognise this and were working away on it with a small digger - this seems to be a regional issue we encountered at other venues that we visited.

It’s a small very rustic property, the rooms are very traditional. The staff were very accommodating and if they could do it they would. The food options are limited and we had children with us, as they don’t stock things like ketchup this at times can be problematic. The wine selection as good and reasonably priced. They offer horse riding, wine tasting and a number of walking trails.

The pool area is surrounded with traditional paving and this is quite uneven, it’s tough to walk on without shoes. The property is in a remote location.

The pool could do with some attention , and we had the same bed sheets for all 7 nights which needed to be changed really. Some food was a bit random and we didn’t even have pizza …

Nice and quite location on a little hill, good breakfast, quite, good dinner, decent pool, 30 min to the beach. The staff is very friendly.

Room gets very hot and AC must therefore always be on (a bit noisy and not very efficient).

- Rooms need some makeover, beds are very loud - Upon checkout they asked us to pay 4 eur per towel that we used at the pool (it's a small amount, I know, but it doesn't leave a great last impression)

Beautiful location, great view, wonderful staff, delicious breakfast. Roberto went out of his way to help us when we "lost" our room key. It was after midnight and he came from his house to the hotel to open the door for us. Everyone was so friendly! Too bad we don't drink alcohol so we did not taste any wine. I will go back again!

Great hotel - the staff were super friendly and the rooms were all very comfortable. We had some confusion with our booking and the hotel team quickly solved it. Everything was perfect!

Location is perfect if you prefer a peaceful place with a true Tuscan atmosphere. But the best way to get to this agriturismo is definitely by car - can't imagine differently. Views are amazing, place is charming, it's a good starting point for visiting near-by Tuscan towns. We liked that the property had swimming pool - even though not for proper swimming workout but big enough if you just want to jump in at the end of the day for few minutes. Restaurant served nice food, prepared from local ingredients. Since the dinner is not served on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, we highly recommend booking a table in near-by Tenuta Il Sassone on these days, you won't regret.

Beds were too soft, therefore we didn't have a very good sleep (but that's a matter of personal preference of course). The wifi signal was very weak. The shower water ran out for about 30min just when we wanted to get ready for a dinner in near-by place, therefore we were a bit late. It was fixed and it happened only once during out 3-nights stay. There was some very loud music until around 1 am coming from near-by wine resort Conti di San Bonifacio. If you didn't want to opt for closing the windows and sleep with the running air-conditioning, it was quite a challenge to have some sleep.

The breakfast was the best we've had in all of our travels in Italy. Absolutely wonderful. Exceptionally friendly staff.
