The Marlton is a classic New York hotel in an excellent location. The staff were very friendly, the bed was super comfortable, and the breakfast was quite nice. The rooms were very very quiet and we slept perfectly each night. I’ve stayed in other hotels and apartments in NYC and this certainly was not the case there. Also the temperature control in the room was top notch. One other noteworthy experience was the breakfast every morning. We always easily got a table right away and the servers were attentive.

There are trade offs to consider when staying in a classic traditional hotel, where the facilities are on the older side. The rooms are very small with limited space to move around or spread out. There certainly was nowhere to work in the room (ie desk). However, the lobby is quite spacious and comfortable and I saw several people working there. The water pressure in the shower was on the lower side and the faucets were traditional with the hot and cold settings as separate dials. That said, these things did not put me off the hotel and I would certainly stay there again in the future.

Fireplace and comfy in cafe/lobby of hotel - inviting (although often very crowded with guests and no guests). Room was ready and check on allowed two hours before check in time. Nice amenities in room - toothpaste! - and slippers. They gave small bottle of wine for 4 day stay. The decor of halls and room was unique and attractive. Free newspapers and breakfast. Great location.

Room was quite small - although bed was comfortable, pillows were softer than I was used to. Although breakfast was free - you had to sign a meal ticket that inflated price of breakfast - $56 for breakfast two - basically a continental breakfast (where price for no guest breakfast was $18) and tips were requested based on inflated price - found that a bit annoying. Service at breakfast varied from poor (gruff inattentive service l, forgot to bring us silverware, etc) to great (very friendly attentive service.)

Excellent location in a relatively quiet street next to a lively area. Lots of great restaurants and bars in easy walking distance and the subway is a short walk away. The Marlton has real character, especially in its lobby, bar/restaurant area. Room was comfortable but, as it's a historic location, a little tight on space. Very friendly and helpful team. Room was cleaned and serviced with care. Good breakfast in seating area with plenty of space - never had to wait for a table.

Room was comfortable but, as it's a historic location, a little tight on space. For example, no in-room desk. More suited to leisure travellers than business travellers.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Marlton, which was for 5 days. It is a charming, old-world feeling hotel. First, as has already been mentioned, the rooms are small. But as a solo woman traveler, the size was just fine for me. If you're looking for expansive rooms to sprawl, then go elsewhere. I initially booked the Petite Queen but learned (as also mentioned by others) that the Petite Queen rooms face a building that is undergoing construction. And construction starts early and lasts until the evening in the day. And it is really loud. Not the hotel's fault. Even though I planned on sight-seeing, I also wanted to come back to the room to rest and the noise made it impossible. However, as luck would have it, there was another room available, and the hotel staff were so very accommodating and put me in the new room, which was one with a full bed. And again, as a solo traveler, that was just fine. As a matter of fact, I loved the room even more. It felt a little bigger, the bathroom was bigger and had a bathtub. There was also a very nice wardrobe to hang my clothes in, as well as a stocked mini-bar (I took that stuff out and put my own drinks and snacks in). There was also a hallway to the bathroom, giving the room a feeling of being larger. The room was exceptionally clean, the bathroom lovely with a wonderful shower head and very nice toiletries. I found the bed quite comfortable. The pillows are squishy, but I had 4 to choose from and just piled them on and slept just fine. My room faced the street, but there was very little street noise, at least nothing that kept me awake. The continental breakfast included with the room price was just fine. I typically had the oatmeal and a glass of juice, which is really all I needed to kickstart my day. The hotel really is ideally located and easy to get to places either on foot or via the subway, which is a couple blocks away.

Super location - perfect for exploring New York and easy to get to from JFK (you can get a train direct from the airport to a subway station that's just a short walk from hotel). The hotel is full of character: the rooms are pleasant and clean (if small) and the bar and lobby are full of charm. There's good air con throughout — it kept me cool even in 34 degree heat. A reasonably good breakfast is included in the room price (or at least was when I booked).

Breakfast was served a bit later than I might like - from 8am, which won't suit you if you need to head off to an early meeting. There were no tea/coffee making facilities in my room and bar prices were very high (the minibar prices especially so). Given the cost of my room, it was pretty small, but that's generally the case in NYC. WiFi wasn't password protected, which work users won't necessary like - I ended up tethering a lot.

The subway was close by. The breakfast was very good. Room is definitely small but I really like the old architecture of the rooms and lobby.

The pillows are the worst I have ever experienced in a hotel it’s like the air is let out of them when you lay down on them. For the cost of the room please invest in decent pillows.

I liked the chilled out vibe, the location is excellent and the staff sweet and courteous. The place exudes a calm that I loved coming home too, it felt natural and comfortable most times of the day. I worked in the lobby a lot and that was wonderful as well. Its a stone's throw away from Washington Sq Park which was a lovely addition to the day every time I stepped out. Its far from the madness of the downtown yet surrounded by fun things to do. The room was small but clean and the fixtures were all early 19th century vibe - which felt quite cool!

Water wasn't provided as a given and I went a few nights parched. Its standard to offer a bottle complimentary in other hotels so I wonder why they didn't think of it. The other thing I would have wanted is a clothes rail or a wardrobe for my stuff, but the room was very small and didn't have anything such.

I love every single thing about the aesthetic of this property, and I also absolutely love the location.

I was greeted with a very lukewarm welcome by the front desk girl when I checked in. I also had a hard time getting the attention of staff in the restaurant, and the cocktail waiter who served us in the bar one of the nights was also pretty gruff and unfriendly. Overall I just felt very unwelcome by the staff, almost as if I was an annoyance for even being there. Maybe it’s because there are so many visitors to this hotel and lobby area that are not staying in the hotel. But as a guest I was very disappointed by the staff attitude overall from everyone I interacted with pretty much.

Rooms were quite small but designed well, like a little jewel box. I stayed in two. One with a full bed and then one with twin beds once my co-worker arrived. Breakfast was surprisingly good with many options to choose from Lobby is beautiful, comfortable and cozy a great space to hang out in & get work done. Staff was excellent! Close to the subway and right by Washington Square Park.

The price haha! but this is NY. Hands down my new favorite hotel ~ There was some construction noise from a building next door (fall 2024)

the location was amazing. close to tons of great places to eat and tour in the Village with good access to the subway. breakfast was delicious and service friendly and efficient. the atmosphere was very quiet calm and old world. a bit too dark in some public rooms.

there was massive building- construction site at the back of the hotel causing lots of noise beginning at 645 a.m. the hotel in anticipation of the building and the noise problem should have asked the builders to subsidize the cost of installing double pane windows in the rooms on the back facade of the hotel to minimize the disturbance to the guests' rest.
