Location is perfect , away from mid-town intensity. Plenty of things to do on the doorstep. Hotel staff were helpful and we upgraded rooms halfway through to get better views which the staff arranged quickly for us Also very helpful arranging airport taxi

First room was limited in window light as it looked onto walls (pretty common in NYC so not a major issue) Rooms were a bit hot and we don't like having to use Aircon , specially in April

It is a great hotel with a good atmosphere, friendly staff, and beautiful art everywhere. It is clean and the location is just perfect.

It was disappointing that there was only breakfast in the weekend. Having a hotel breakfast is one of my favorite parts of the hotel experience. Also not so nice was that the window had a view on a dark wall about two feet away, so effectively there was no window and I wish I had known that during booking. Finally, even though I visited in the heart of winter, and it was very cold outside, the room temperature was 78 degrees F so I had to turn on the AC to be able to sleep.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Close to NYU and the Village. w 4 St subway stop (A B C D E) is very close.

It's a food desert. They have discontinued breakfast service, have no room service, no mini-bar; even the vending machines have been removed. There is a connected restaurant that only does breakfast on weekends, If you want a snack or a soda in the evening, you could go a few blocks to the CVS. It's surrounded by restaurants and coffee houses, so you have options.

The pillows and bedding were super, the mattress perfect, the blackout blinds and drapes worked like a charm, the room and hallway were like an oasis of calm. No noise came into the room at all. In New York! The door man was cheery, attentive and helpful. The front desk was peopled by really fine, efficient and helpful individuals. The women responsible for cleaning, providing toiletries, and towels were attentive, efficient, polite and warming professional. We were rather surprised and charmed by just how perfectly the entire stay unfolded, thanks to the entire staff. My spouse came down with food poisoning and they took care of what was a very stressful and alarming situation. Enough said on that! The locale is great. It's fun to stay in the Village, and the hotel is right next to leafy Washington Square Park. Great location and so much more peaceful and tranquil than Times Square area hotels.

The hotel is old, but that is also part of its charm. Its age means the lobby and bar are small and showing their age and the elevator is the same. That said, that small elevator never jammed or failed, and we were there six nights. The lobby furniture needs some attention, too.

Excellent location - in the heart of the village.

Reception staff provided no reception - could have cared less about us.

Fantastic location, all employees were super helpful and kind. If you are traveling solo or with adults it's perfect.

It is radiator heat so it was pretty hot in the room unless I opened a window, which is a normal old building thing. I traveled with a small child and wouldn't necessarily recommend this hotel for toddlers just because of the stairs and no refrigerators or microwaves in the room. First time mom and didn't think of it when I was booking!

The location was perfect. It was our first time in New York and we are so glad we chose this area to stay in. Greenwich Village is a destination in itself but it was also so easy to travel to upper and lower Manhattan from there and the subway was about a minute’s walk from the hotel.

We had one of the cheaper rooms and I had read in the reviews that some of the rooms looked out onto a brick wall. And we ended up in one of those. It really didn’t bother us for the time we were there as we were out most of the time and it may actually have been quieter than the rooms facing the street but if I’d been staying more than a couple of days I think I’d have started feeling a bit claustrophobic.

Quaint hotel with lots of charming details. Great location right on The edge of Washington Square Park. Housekeeping was excellent and our room was cleaned every day, which is unusual for most hotels these days.

Service at the front desk could have been friendlier and more responsive. Also, it’s no fault of the hotel but there’s a stretch of Waverly Place (north side) close to Sixth Avenue that seems to be a location for many of the houseless to congregate in the evenings. We were never bothered but I expect solo travelers might find it unnerving.

Hotel was perfectly located for our needs. We had easy access to the subway, yet were close enough to the sights, sounds and touristy things that we mostly walked to and then caught the subway back (High Line, Little Spain, Central Park, Times Square, Grand Central, Penn Station, Madison Square Gardens, China Town, Little Italy, Soho, Ground Zero, Battery Park, NY Stock Exchange. The room was super clean, spacious by NY standards and the bed super comfy. Staff were extremely friendly and willing to assist with advice on the best diners, restaurants, eateries, bagels, breakfasts, routes and so the list goes on. The day of our departure was seamless and our cab back to JFK was curb side within minutes of being requested. The doorman is your first point of contact, and they are super friendly and helpful, they certainly made us feel so welcome before we even entered the Lobby. Whilst we never ate in, the menu looked very appetizing, and fare fit for a king. Will definitely be back on my next visit.

If I had to comment here, I would have to say that there was absolutely nothing that I could fault. One needs to just appreciate the hotel the decor and the ambiance for what it is an establishment built in 1902.

Location! This hotel is right at 4th street subway, this gets you access to the A C E lines with ease to downtown, mid and uptown Manhattan. It is right beside Chelsea and Greenwich. The location is perfect for accessing every major site. The hotel cleaning staff were lovely and a credit to the hotel. Room was cleaned daily and bed was made. Towels replaced. Hotel staff were happy for our bags to be left between check in/out which was very good. The hotel is basic but it is great value!
