Absolutely everything! What a beautiful hidden gem! From the amazing staff, to the spectacular views and peace, and most importantly the exceptional additional dog staff! An incredible experience! If you're looking for somewhere to unwind, relax, be stress free, Gowan Valley is definitely the place to be! They have lounges inside and outside that you can relax in, you barely have to leave the property, except for lunch and supper. Besides that, there are trails to do, lounges to relax, amazing plants and flowers to see, plenty of dogs to play with, the occasional cow! A swimming pool! And a lovely playground for kids or an adult who just wants to swing! The staff are always willing to help you and provide amazing service, as a vegetarian they went out of their way to cater for me at breakfast everyday! Quality service!

Just a tiny preference, an aircon...some days were quite hot, the fan definitely did the job but just a small suggestion

Rooms were beautifully appointed and very comfortable! Beds have electric blankets which are a must in winter, our room had the most amazing shower and the bed was very comfortable. We received a wonderful, warm welcome from Cynthia on arrival. She was very knowledgeable about restaurants and attractions in the area.

The next few point are not the responsibility of the guesthouse, more just info to help other travellers prepare for their trips. Loadshedding was escalated to Stage 6 while we were away. Our room did not have a back up power system but there were rechargeable lights left in the room which did a good job. Cellphone reception in the area disappears entirely during loadshedding.

Breakfast was LOVELY, the staff was friendly and willing to tailor everything to our taste. We had breakfast overlooking the river it was lovely country get away. We had a last minute escape but that didn't stop them from making our stay worthwhile even allowed us extended check out time.

maybe look into having airconditioners and bar fridge per room otherwise ALL WAS PERFECT

The location was excellent. The room was a comfortable size where all my needs were catered for. The social lounges were inviting, allowing me to feel as if I was at home. The breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I will definitely go back.

I have no complaints. I would have loved to have stayed longer.

We were the only visitors to the farm and the staff allowed us to pick a room different to the one we had booked. We visited during spring and the garden was in bloom and just stunning. There was a power outage in the area but the property had a back up generator. The breakfast was delicious and generous

Fabulous guest house! Staff were excellent, rooms are beautiful and delicious breakfast was served each morning. The guest house has lovely facilities and we were able to braai and relax by the fire and catch the rugby! Location is excellent and close to Michaelhouse where we were watching hockey.

Nothing to improve

Kids loved the pool and forest walk. Breakfast was consistently good. The braai area is lovely down by the river. Lots of options for gravel and mountain-bike riders in the area.

One small gripe: The shower window lets in a stream of early-morning sunshine straight onto the bed. It would be great to be able to cover it up.

We enjoyed an exceptional stay at Gowan. From the time of our arrival, Dianne and Brett could not do enough for us, and really went the extra mile. The setting is picturesque. Overall a great stay. Would highly recommend this establishment and we look forward to visiting again in the future.

The service, location (very close proximity to Michaelhouse) and quality and size of room was really great. Not to mention the brekky which was delicious!

WiFi in the room wasn't great and no TV's in the rooms, which didn't bother me much as I wasn't there for most of the time, but would irk some.

I loved the thatch roof country cottage feels and beautiful location. Having the river so close was such a treat too - the most soothing sound. Cynthia was the best hostess ever. We especially enjoyed the forest walk, and sitting right beside the river in the club house. A must visit!
