Breakfast nice and quite large amount of options. The "complex" is very nice and almost all rooms are accesible with your car for easy loading - though not a feeling of roads running throgh the complex, its very peacefull. All room have little porches. Flowers EVERYWHERE (at least in january). Restaurant and bar area quite inviting. Pool area very relaxing with big palms and lots of flowers. Staff VERY sweet. The place is very well run - management seem to have good over-all procedures. Very smooth. Good options for late check out - with respect to other bookings. Great with transport to/from airport. A good place in connection with arriving or leaving SA - to gather with your group before heading out for roadtrips. An oasis in bustling Jburg

Room do not have AC. There is a quite efficient fan in ceiling above bed, but for some people AC is important for sleeping. Area not great for dining out etc, a bit scrappy - but hotel complex very safe and relaxing.

Inviting & rather large guesthouse, a charming oasis with pool & beautiful garden area, peaceful & relaxing atmosphere…very warm & friendly welcome at reception, providing help for whatsoever…large breakfast selection, all freshly prepared…complimentary shuttle service from/to airport, inquiry in advance about my flight and arrival time, very reliable and punctual...

Guests who had to get to the airport early were sometimes very loud and inconsiderate. Perhaps notices could be put up in central locations (or in the rooms directly) to remind people to be more considerate...

Sunrock is always clean and always has most beautiful garden and will suggest they were the gardens late afternoon to early evenings as it assist with cooling down the rooms and stoops. It is a garden of Eden in Sodom and Gamorra. The lasagne was a let down very very dry and for us from Free State a let down. But as a beacon of light the steak and baked potatoes dinner the previous time was excellent. And some of the overseas visitors really liked your dinner. Your malva pudding and icecream was a 10. Breakfast was very good and nice again we saw an overseas visitor asking for "pancakes" and they refused to make for him. For me not making sense as it is so easy. But overall a wonderful venue with good workers and very beautiful clean rooms and lovely lovely gardens.

The heat in the afternoon in the rooms but that is not their fault. And the surrounding people's noise (party music and screaming) this time around until 02h30 in the morning. But we know the venue cannot do anything about it. Previously it was quiet maybe this time of the year.

Abby & Susan were wonderful! They were both friendly, genuinely warm, and helpful during my stay. Abby went above and beyond in helping to arrange a private driver to take me shopping and to the Apartheid Museum. I felt safe and well taken care of. I also took advantage of the on-site spa and it was the most relaxing 1-hour massage! The massage therapist (Landy) was very friendly, extremely professional, and made me feel comfortable from the start. It was unfortunate that my stay at SunRock was so short, as I had wanted to get a facial in as well. I had room #1 and it had a double shower and a bathtub. The bed was very comfortable and I slept soundly. The room included an electric hot kettle, coffee, tea, & a large complimentary bottle of still water. The buffet breakfast was excellent! There were many choices and you could order your eggs to be cooked whichever way you liked! The fitness center was small, and clean, but had everything needed to get in a good workout. The hotel is located less than 10 minutes from the airport. The complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport was greatly appreciated. I especially loved how safe and secure I felt at all times. The neighborhood doesn't look so great, but once you are on the property, it's like a tiny oasis!

Sunrock Guest House is a heavenly oasis super close to the airport! We loved everything about Sunrock from airport pick-up to drop-off. The gardens/flowers/artwork are gorgeous and I couldn’t stop taking photos. We stayed one quick night at the beginning of our trip and a second night at the end of our trip. It was so special that we cancelled our plans to visit tourist site in Joburg on the day of our return flight, and we spent it relaxing at Sunrock enjoying the pool and gardens. Communication was fantastic via Booking and WhatsApp. The very detailed instructions on how to reach the shuttle after clearing immigration/customs at the airport were spot on and very reassuring. They even sent photos of the license plates, etc. Our drivers were very kind and professional. The first night we were in Room 3 -which had a king bed plus single and faced pool. It was a very spacious room with a nice shower and extremely comfortable beds. On our return we were in room 1 which is also facing the pool and right by reception. This room had a shower plus tub with handheld shower nozzle. Location was not an issue for us, but I could imagine if you really want complete quiet, one of the back rooms might be better. The heated pool allowed for a nice swim in the cool evening. Our rooms only had a ceiling fan, no AC, but none was needed during our stay in October. There was useful and nice furniture in the room for luggage and clothing. The sockets used both South African and European style plugs. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of water which was needed after a long dehydrating flight. Staff was very attentive and helpful with our questions and needs. Breakfast was extremely generous and they cooked eggs/omelets to order. The buffet dinner was also delicious. There is a grocery store a 5 minute walk away which is convenient if you need to pick up any type of provisions.

I shy away from giving reviews as I have often seen how service can change with time but with this guest house it is amazingly different. I remember on my earlier visits to the Sunrock guest house (2012), when the swimming pool and the Sunrock Curio's shop was just a dream and the owners would give service be it at the airport for pick up and drop off or at the reception area. Over 10 years of visiting this home away from home has been nothing but consistent in ensuring that the guest's both local and international receive nothing but the very best of customer service. As much as their dream is now a reality, for me I still feel their attention to detail through their trained staff. Thank you Sunrock team for the consistency.

Perfect for a stop over in Johannesburg as it’s close to the airport and has all the amenities you need. The communication from booking and throughout the stay was excellent. We had, what looked like, a newly decorated modern, clean and spacious room. We were also able to extend for the day (at a cost) as we had an evening flight, and this was so useful especially travelling with children. The staff were so friendly, relaxed and helpful with all my questions. The pool was warm, so the kids happily played in there for hours. We had massages and pedicures and they were done of the best we’ve had! Breakfast was also delicious.

We had a delightful experience at Sunrock Guesthouse, which is conveniently located close to the airport. The room was comfortable with a few minor issues, but the bed was great, and the shower was excellent, ensuring a good night’s rest. The property has a lovely garden where you can relax. Breakfast was more than adequate, and the evening meals were delicious. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and the airport shuttle service was spot on, making our travel experience hassle-free.

The pool is freezing! You cannot use it because it's too cold, even for just a quick dip, this was disappointing. One thing to keep in mind is that it’s not super quiet during the day or evening. There is fairly loud music playing until after 10 PM, which can be heard in the rooms. Additionally, the sounds of passing airplanes, traffic, and arriving or departing cars are noticeable, so earplugs might be a good idea for those sensitive to noise. Thankfully, it was quiet during the night. It would have been nice to have the have some snacks available during the day, as the neighbourhood doesn't invite to explore it. However, they do offer a sandwiche if you need a quick bite.

Dinner for 180 Rand was the best deal in town! Dinner was very tasty and plentiful & dessert was delicious to boot! Also, the honesty bar that is available all day/evening was a bonus. We absolutely love Sunrock - so much that we came back at the end of our trip after beginning our month long southern Africa adventure here as well.

Not a thing - we were able to relax in the common area after check out, until needing to be taken to the airport to head home. Shuttle drivers - all of them - were fantastic and even accommodated our special request for a stop on the way to the airport.

It is very well located for stay over in JB, what I liked the most was the food, dinner and breakfast buffet were both delicious and a great variety of things. The area is lovely and beautiful.

The gym is great, but is located beside the eating room and above the bar, you need to cross the tables to get in and out so I feel uncomfortable while doing sports and having to get out through the tables while people are having meals. The water of the pool was warm so people were just swimming at night (positive point for allowing night swimming tho!)
