The chalet was great , view was amazing !

Both days receptionist were not nice , in the morning was no electricity , no one informed us and the lady at reception didn’t even say sorry ! Very disappointing and shocking behaviour ! The lads at the winetasting and dinner were amazing !

The location itself was stunning, nice sized super clean suite and bed super comfortable with great views, and staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Loved the bathroom set-up too (although note that the two showers are connected so if one goes hot the other goes colder)!

The power tripped a few times throughout the evening and next morning (an Eskom problem however) and noise from the road was a bit louder than we would have liked for the stunning location that we were in. Flies over breakfast were a bit annoying but staff brought a candle out to ward them off, which helped.

Rijk's is in a perfect location, the natural swimming pool is a treat and in January warm enough for the most reticent of cold water swimmers. I love the views of the surrounding mountains and the dark night sky is great for stargazing. Breakfast was really good and we really appreciated having the choice of a bath and a shower.

We felt that the amount of choice on the menu for dinner was a little limited and uninspiring. The food itself was fine and was 'good value', by virtue of being cheap rather than being particularly memorable. The wine list was really disappointing, Rijk's have some really lovely wines, but the choice on the menu was limited.

The staff, service and cleanliness were good. Great experience staying at a winery for the first time.

There had been a water pipe break on the property. As a result, the tap water was completely brown and smelled a bit. Running the water for a longer period of time didn't help. Washing was impossible. Luckily, bottled water was available in the apartment so you could even brush your teeth. The problem was not mentioned when booking and checking in. After we noticed the problem, I complained about it and received instructions on how to run it. I said we would manage, but... This incident is unfortunate, because otherwise the service and everything was of a high standard. It will probably be addressed in the future.

Fantastic setting at the end of the valley. Wonderful views over the vineyards with the mountains in the back. it's really nice to eat on the terrace like this. The personnel is really friendly and will always be willing to help out. The wines are fantastic and the food is decent. It's a lovely spot to wind down and recharge. The rooms are really spacious and have warm atmosphere. We loved the shower with double shower heads.

Just like most hotels in the wider region you can experience loadshedding (electricity cut off in a part of the region). The hotel communicates these up front and most of the times these are shorter than communicated. When we were there (end of February '24) there were 3 scheduled cut offs a day, each with a maximum of 2 hours. Most didn't last that long though.

What a wonderful spot and so breathtaking. The staff was excellent and friendly. The lunch was really good.

Was confused about the two room categories as they said the other room is more expensive but it was exactly the same rooms. Also the lightning not good in room. And I would have loved to take a bath in the beautiful bath, but there was no bath plug. Feel was a bit expensive for what you got.

Rooms really clean and comfortable. Would have preferred a kettle as I am a tea drinker. The views are wonderful and the place is quiet and peacefull.

The restaurant was not great. Service was bad. We were the only ones in the restaurant, waitress did not know menu and we had to take our own plates off table, she was really bad. The food however was great - butternut soup and fresh kingklip.

We had a lovely, relaxing stay. Rijk's is perfectly located at the end of the town's main street, 8 minutes from all the main wine farms. The breakfast is delicious and very generous - cold buffet plus lots of hot breakfast options, great value for money. There is a restaurant on site which serves non fussy, home style food. The lamb shank, burger, babotie were all great! The Chicken Curry is spicy (just as it says) so only order it if you like spicy food, i found it delicious! The eco-pool is great, they provide fluffy, clean towels. The grounds in general are beautiful. The room (called Private Cellar) was large, comfortable and clean. Nice aircon and the bed was super comfortable. In summer the room is perfectly cool thanks to the thatch. We really relaxed and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. View from the stoep is beautiful. The biggest highlight of our stay was the staff - the team of ladies are a well oiled machine that do everything they can to spoil you and make you happy!

Only two things - one you have to ask for the bath plug. I do understand why this is needed when the dam levels are a concern but that's not the case at the moment and two the room does back onto where the main road (although it's a fair enough distance) is so if you're staying during the week it can be a little noisy. Consider a room on the far side of the pool if you like quiet.

The venue offered everything one would need on a getaway. You didn't have to leave the Estate if you didn't want to. Great food, wine, spacious and comfortable rooms. Being a winter stay, the fireplace in the restaurant added to the comfort and feel. Even a quite screen in a cosy corner to watch SA play rugby.

The coffee station could have improved. Been very cold area an electric blanket or kettle to fill our hot water bottles would have been a treat. In the broader scheme of things - minor!
