Helpful night receptionist who really seem to understand when I needed help I was struggling to sleep after long flight but he was always happy to respond to my requests. He was a real credit to this business if he was a member of my staff in my business I would really look after him, there are some really miserable receptionists about especially early hours of the morning believe me I dealt with some on this trip. But the gentleman here was never phased by any request for help. Rooms are comfortable and well presented, location is spot on I had never been to Madrid before but if you put a pin on the map this is the location to be for virtually everything, we did sunset view, palace tour, museo de romanticism, tapas night out. All from this location, we intend to come back and not other hostal has a chance of my business if I can stay here again.

Maybe a mini fridge in the room and some tea and coffee I u decretándolos why they may not encourage this because of risk of spills, but I think as an add on they could charge for utilising them.

The location could not be better, right in the centre of Madrid, next to transport to get anywhere in the city, with bars, restaurants and shops all around. The room was great for our needs and we weren't caught short for anything. There is a vending machine in reception.

The lift was broken, and there was a slightly complicated way of getting to the room, but this is nitpicking, as I am supposed to write something here. I really have no complaints at all. My Mum lost her keycard almost immediately and this was solved with no fuss whatsoever.

The proximity of sights to see very close to major sites metro stations Bus Stations Restaurants was beyond my expectations. My GPS WAS NOT working properly and they gave me excellent directions, the staff at the front were exceptional. Looks can be deceiving but for a single traveler it was excellent, from the outside it doesn’t look much but once you get in you will be amazed at how well they organized and attention to detail.

Nothing the rooms and bathroom was spotless and cleaned everyday.

Fabulous location. Good room. Little fridge was nice to have. Lively neighborhood with tons of wonderful restaurants close by - excellent vibe. Good hotel security in busy neighborhood.

Check in was a little tricky - no previous info provided (all the other hotels sent me a message beforehand). We showed up with no idea what to do. Finally figured out to walk down little hallway and found a tiny sign "Astoria" with a doorbell on it. Then it was easier after that. Staff friendly etc. once we figured out how to get in.

Everything was great! The location could have been more perfect for sightseeing. Every sight is in walking distance. The personal was friendly and also spoke English. There is a 24h reception. The room was being cleaned every day and although it was rather small, it was exactly what needed! There was always warm water and even a small desk in the room, which was really practical for me. The building is old but really charming and rather part of the whole experience - for me this was no problem since the condition of the room was very good and above all clean! I would definately recommend Hostal Astoria for a cozy stay in Madrid and would gladly come back in the future.

One could note that noise could be heard at times from the corridor. This did not bother me much. However, I could imagine that someone more sensitive with those things might have had an issue. That said, I believe that the positives outweight any slightly negative aspects overall. The price is fair and rather a good deal!

The location was great. La Rollerie is nearby where you can have breakfast. The hostal has an elevator which is very convenient for tourists with big & heavy luggage. There is a 24 hour receptionist and all were friendly

The room was small. As we couldn’t use the aircon, we had to open the window but the noise coming from the street lasted up to the wee hours of the morning

We had to cancel the first night at the last minute and the member of staff on the desk was very accommodating. The hotel is extremely central and the location is superb. The room was small but very clean and good value for money.

It wasn't immediately obvious which door to go in. The best door is the one for a different hotel that share the same building.

We were pleased with everything. We have no negative opinion of anything. It is always great to know that in a Parador we will have a great stay.

Location was perfect. Near everything a tourist needs. Close to Sol, Gran Via, and more shopping areas. It's also close to famous restaurants and activities like Flamenco theaters. I felt safe and secure in this property even late at night. The comfort that this hostel provides exceeded my expectations and the proximity to a tourist's needs is a major plus. This property deserves a recommendation!

This was my second time stay in this hotel so I knew what to expect. I spent the most of my time outside and used it mostly for sleepover. The location is perfect (5min walk from Sol), this is probably the biggest advantage of this hotel, considering the price. The rooms was small but cosy and perfectly clean.

The only issue is the temperature. This time of the year it is quite hot (30°C) so windows will not do in the night. The AC headed towards the bed makes you freeze, so there is either too hot or too cold. Not a big issue for me. Also all the doors in the hotel can be only shut by slamming which is quite noise. It was silent in the night, though. The elevator looks like from 19th century and is a bit creepy :)
