Awesome beach for swimming and wading up to 50 metres in at waist depth. Firm sand under foot. Beautifully kept garden and beach.

1. Room service food was well below 4 star expectations. 2. Staff members were mostly awesome but one of them did graffiti in the secure parking on our car’s dusty windscreen with the singhalese equivalent of “F*CK*R”, despite heavy tipping on top of the 10% service charge throughout our 5 day stay. Little to no response to complaint at reception. Disappointed!

The breakfast food was very good although the coffee could have been a lot better. Had coffee in my room instead. I particularly liked the stringhoppers and Dahl. Room was comfy and,most importantly the beach was excellent.

Other than the coffee? This is a bit hard to explain to people who like "resorts" but it was all a bit too resorty for me. I prefer smaller hotels or guest houses with more character.

Calm Hotel and Spa My partner and I recently stayed two nights at this hotel as part of our honeymoon. The hotel is designed really well and the entrance lobby is quite a spectacle when you first arrive. The gardens are really well maintained and the pool is lovely, even if it’s a little warm for my liking! The staff are a stand out here. Always smiling, always greeting you and always ready to help! Special shout out goes to Pramod, the Restaraunt manager, who delivered a lovely meal to our room one evening and to Sehan for his exception service for our romantic private beach dinner. Sehan was incredibly professional and kind and Pramod went above and beyond with any requests that we needed. Would recommend staying here a few nights for some rest and relaxation next to a stunning coast line.

The rooms are nice but there could be small improvement, the speaker in our TV hardly worked and there was a wasp nest on the balcony

This resort is very aptly named: an oasis of peace and tranquility in a gorgeous spot. The room was clean and spacious, and we could access the pool directly from our patio. The swimming pool is beautiful, with a shallower area for toddlers as well. The he beach was pristine, and we felt safe enough to leave all our belongings on the beach lounge chairs while swimming / taking a walk. The staff is very nice and helpful.

Very minor issues. The desserts (both at breakfast and at dinner) taste a bit artificial. The swimming pool didn’t always have the best smell (although we saw it being cleaned often and thoroughly). It was impossible to get the room cleaned before mid-afternoon.

Our time in this hotel was awesome. The hotel staff is very kind and is always smiling when you see them. The food and breakfast was very good. You could always order fresh fruit juices. We were in the End of June and there were not a lot of people staying. So it was really calm and the service was perfect, as well as our room (suite). The beach in front of the hotel was one of the best and cleanest i have ever seen. We went for a walk on the beach to see the beaches of the other hotels there and i just can say in front of the Calm Resort was the best and cleanest beach. Also almost no shells have been there. The water of the sea was warm. I couldn't have imagined it better.

If you are afraid of lizzards/cockroaches then you should not go to Sri Lanka. They are almost everywhere also in the best hotels it can happen, even if they try anything not to have them there. In our room we saw one time a baby lizzard and outside of our room there were many when it got dark and the lights turned on. So you have to be careful that they dont enter, when you open the door in the night. Anyway in this hotel it was much better with this topic than in the other ones.

This was a wonderful resort. It was beautifully appointed. The rooms were huge and clean. We had ground floor rooms and really enjoyed having a slider to the patio where we could easily access the enormous pool and the beautiful beach. The staff, particularly the gentleman who runs the restaurant went so far out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed at all times. I can't speak highly enough about their professionalism and kindness. Unfortunately my daughter became ill during our stay. Nothing at all to do with the resort. The heat got to her and she became very dehydrated. We ended up needing to call a doctor. This was an extremely scary situation. We were in a country we had never visited before, we didn't speak the language and didn't really know what care was available to us. The staff at the resort took control immediately. Within 30 minutes we had an emergency room doctor as well as a nurse in our room caring for my daughter with kindness and compassion. Thankfully my daughter recovered quickly and completely and we were able to continue our vacation. I will forever be grateful to the staff for making us feel so comfortable and cared for in a scary situation. This place has everything you need to create a dream vacation for your family however it is wonderful to know that when the dream gets interrupted they are trained and capable of caring for you in that capacity as well. Thank you all!

This is a beautiful hotel. The pool is gorgeous and it sits right on a lovely section of beach. All the staff we met were great - the welcome we received was lovely. The hotel gym is good, the lobby is stunning, the rooms are beautiful. We had the ocean view room and it was a 20 second walk to the beach which was amazing!! Shower was strong and bed was very comfortable. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

Aircon was a little noisy at night. The location is fine if you are happy staying in the hotel, however if you want to explore then this row of hotels may not be for you.

Good Rooms and Services

Rooms were really spacious and nicely decorated. They were clean and had everything you needed. Pool area was also clean and cozy. Beach was really nice, clean and safe to swim. Hotel staff were nice and helpful.

Breakfast wasn’t that tasty and quality wasn’t the best (for examble waffles were really dry). Location is nice if you want to spend your holiday in the resort only but if you want to see rest of the city, which is really different than hotel area, it is quite hard to find tuktuk or taxi nearby. It was said on the booking.com that bikes are free to use but you had to pay to use them. Gym and bar were a bit dirty. Bar was also oddly decorated and had weird smell so we enjoyed our drinks outside. Outside bar near the beach would be a great addition

The hotels pool and beach view is stunning, lots of facilities, very friendly and helpful staff! Spa was also so relaxing, although I wouldn’t say it was cheap. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here overall.

We originally booked and paid extra for an ‘ocean view’ room however the only view we had was bushes. This was sorted out as we got a free upgrade for our next room since we had time to stay another night here! Also the buffet has plenty of choice, we found the food fairly average and the best area was the freshly cooked eggs/evening dinner station. Also when we arrived we were the only ones in the pool-they don’t offer service from the pool itself for drinks so we went to the bar to order and they took over 45 mins for our 2 cocktails to arrive! :(
