The hotel is in a scenic setting, with tree-lined paths and adjacent to the lovely Habarana Lake. Rooms were generously-sized and had all required amenities. For those interested in birds, we saw grey hornbill, black-hooded oriole and brown-headed barbet (plus several others that we weren't able to identify), all in a single tree within 30 minutes of watching. We also saw purple heron and Brahminy kite while on a boat ride on Habarana Lake (arrangeable via the hotel). The best aspect of the hotel, however, was the staff. Everyone, from restaurant and reception staff to grounds personnel and security, were friendly and obliging.

Rooms were fairly old and could use some refurbishment, though they were clean enough. Having to get water for the kettle from the bathroom wasn't ideal (although this is the case with most hotels). Breakfast and dinner could be improved slightly (some dishes were very nice, while others were not so great). My main concern was the provision of shampoo, lotion, etc., in small disposable plastic tubes. Fixed refillable dispensers would be far better for the environment. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, so these points are fairly minor.

Our stay at this hotel was an excellent experience. The service was incredibly friendly and warm-hearted, making us feel welcome from the very beginning. A special mention goes to Hashani at the reception, whose service really stood out, though the rest of the staff were also lovely and accommodating. Our room was clean and spacious, with a unique touch—a beautiful outdoor shower creatively integrated into the space. We were especially grateful for the unexpected room upgrade, which was a wonderful surprise and made our stay even more memorable. The buffet was excellent, both for breakfast and dinner, offering a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. Everything was fresh and well-prepared, making dining at the hotel a delight. The location was good, especially when traveling with a driver. It made it easy to explore the surrounding areas without any hassle. Overall, our stay was fantastic, and we left with great memories. We would definitely recommend this hotel to others and hope to visit again in the future!

Food was a variety of choice catering for all nationalities. Staff were really helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble. The Garden view room was large and accomadating and satisfied our needs for a comfortable 2 night stay whilst we explored the cultural triangle. We wandered around teh garden by the lake and was surprised to see an lizard just meander across the lawn. We had an issue with our booking via Hotels.com basically the booking wasn't received. The Manager at this hotel was so helpful and suggested we book the room via Booking .com so we could have a bed for the night. She then spent the next 2 days speaking with my husband to try and assist him in getting a refund from Hotels.com. She went above and beyond.

We felt the hotel was a little tired and could do with a repaint and freshen up. Pool looked tired but we did not use.

We felt like we checked-in into the serenity. The view was breathtaking, calm and serene. The location of the property and the facilities of the property was well maintained and looked amazing. Special compliments should go to the staff who were very friendly and supportive and took care of all our needs and special requests. Special thanks goes to the F&B and kitchen staff who arranged a surprise for the anniversary celebration. They had put lot of thoughts and efforts which is highly appreciated. The staff were very very friendly. ♥️ The buffet spread was really good and the food was delicious which included interesting combinations of continental and Sri Lankan cuisine. Overall service seemed well coordinated, staff seemed very efficient,and the service was excellent. From the welcome drink to our check out we got a personalised service and had a pleasant stay. A big thanks to the Habarana Village team for arranging everything perfectly. Waiting to visit sometimes again. Highly recommend for any type of staycation and will be added to one of my favourite staycations in Sri Lanka.

Everything was perfect and nothing was disappointed

My reception was a little mixed, seemed like there was a bit of confusion when I arrived. That said, once they cleared that up, they were great. The property is in a beautiful location on a lake and you're treated to some amazing sunsets & bird watching. My room was actually a cabin on the lake, so that was amazing. It also had an outdoor (but private) shower that was wonderful. Bed was comfortable and slept really well.

The buffet while incredibly extensive, was ok outside of breakfast - the a la carte menu was really good though. Wait staff in the dining room was average and you felt like you were an imposition.

The service, the pool, the room and wildlife nature trail services was excellent. very comfortable stay. Very private. Scenic and great spa service. Would stay again.

The food was average but reasonably priced for tourists, cheaper than other cinnamon hotels we stayed in. They don't offer sparkling wine or champagne by the glass. You have to get a whole bottle, which is expensive and overpriced. The wine selection was very limited and the Riesling they had was very overpriced. More expensive than in the UK.

The architecture of buildings, the sprawling estate and landscaping was a pleasing experience. The dining room, set in an open room was beautiful; Food, both for breakfast and dinner was a great experience, wide selection both international and Sri Lankan. The food station chefs were a great help. Swimming pool was clean and set in a scenic area. The rooms were spacious, interior decoration beautiful, and the housekeeping made it absolutely clean and nice.

My partner and I visited Sri Lanka for two weeks, and we stayed 5 nights in Habarana Village by Cinnamon. We loved our permanence there, everything was above our expectations, and it was a good value for money. The rooms are in a gorgeous park, and ours had also a beautiful lake view. The swimming pool was the perfect place to relax after a day of visits. We also enjoyed the tasty breakfast and dinner. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the staff is very kind and helpful. In particular, we want to thank Indunil, Chamal, Sunil, Sisira and Perera.

Cinnamon Habarana Village is one of my favourite hotels to stay with Cinnamon Hotels, and this visit was no exception. The staff here are genuinely friendly and helpful. I had an unfortunate issue with a double booking, but they were so proactive about resolving it, and they really went above and beyond to find me the best option. It's that kind of service that keeps me coming back to Cinnamon Hotels. Highly recommended!

Everything except the slightly disorganized checkin process.

Reception staff who give the first impression and who does the checkin must be trained to communicate their process clearly to the arriving customers. Lack of proper communication caused confusion in room allocation, baggage delivery and providing extra bed in the correct room. They seemed disorganised or disoriented.
