The ladies running Pano Resort, particularly the woman who does the majority of the cooking and check-in/out, etc., are absolutely lovely. It felt like I was coming to stay with my aunties, haha. The rooms are in a wonderful, quiet area directly by the ocean, and you can't complain about being far from the sights when the whole island is just 16 sq. km. That being said, there isn't much within walking distance (same goes for most resorts on the island). Fortunately, renting a motorbike was super easy, and the bikes are in great condition. The restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner. Not sure about lunch as we ate outside most days. Highly recommend the banana pancake! There are also a dog and a cat that hang around the restaurant area. Both are adorable and super friendly. The rooms are beautiful in their wooden simplicity, and very spacious. Despite what other reviews have said, I found the bed to be very comfortable. The fan is a floor/stand fan, so you can move it closer to you easily, which helps a lot with the heat. We had to sacrifice the mosquito net to get good air, but it beats sweating all night. The shower has HOT water and good water pressure, which is nice. The bathroom is really big. I think the best part of the room is the huge balcony. It's great for stargazing since the area is relatively dark. During high tide, the water is almost directly beneath you. During low tide, you get an excellent view of the area's unique terrain. There's a hammock beneath each structure (2 rooms in one "house") where you can relax and enjoy the ocean sights and sounds.

There are some spots, particularly on the balcony, where it feels like the floor may partially collapse at any moment. It would be fantastic for some reinforcement boards to be added, just for safety and peace of mind.

Because of the location you basically needed to rent a scooter to go around, which isn't necessary a bad thing if you appreciate own peace. Though during our visit they were building just next to our bungalow so it was quite loud from early morning.

All rooms are literally a couple of meters from the sea. You'll fall asleep with the sound of the waves. The beautiful, artisanal, wooden stilt houses integrate wonderfully in the surroundings. The resort, located on the southern end of the island, is far off from the hustle and bustle, and is family-run by a couple of adorable Thai ladies. This resort, despite being very basic, has a genuine, Thai charm and might just be the place you'll miss the most coming back home from your holiday.

There are termits in the place, as the bungalows are made of wood. You will also have plenty of geckos making you company and eating your food if you got any. I guess that is part of being in so unique place. I also had the not so pleasant visit of a rat who made my nights not so quite and peaceful I don't bother animals, in fact I like to have them around, but rats are not invited.

We liked almost everything, from check in to check out. Koh mak is a small island, you can prob.see the full island in one day by renting a scooter. the property arranged everything for us, we were greeted with a mile wide smile by the receptionist/cook/all around helper named Pa. She let us checked in early, handed us cold bottled waters, showed us around, and cooked us delicious foods. The location was superb, very safe and quiet. The overlooking water view from our room and balcony, listening to the waves as you doze off, and the sunset were some of the highlights. The rates were so cheap, it felt like renting an overwater bungalow in a very quiet and remote island. We pretty much arranged everything with the property from meals to transportation at reasonable prices including a massage. All the staff made our stay very convenient and memorable. It is easy to gain a family here bc of the staff. This property exceeded our expectations. Book it!!!!

What an amazing stay! On an absolutely stunning island, Pano Resort has an absolutely unbelievable location, with its own little lagoon at the front of the rooms and sunset over the sea every night. My girlfriend and I came for a quiet getaway with beautiful views and this is exactly what we got. Be prepared to fall asleep and wake up to the sound of waves lapping against the shore. I also have to mention the lady who runs the reception and kitchen, she is absolutely wonderful and makes everything with love. Her pancakes in the morning are great.

Not much to mention. The rooms need a little bit of maintenance and if you leave food out and unsealed, you will find ants coming for it. You also will need to rent a scooter if you want to get out and around, but that's fine.

Rooms in need of cosmetic maintenance but clean and everything works( shower/toilet/fan). Although rooms are fan only, it’s a lovely experience as each bungalow has it’s own balcony, fantastic for evenings and mornings. On a small peninsula overlooking a beautiful shallow bay, and a clean canal on the other side. Staff is very kind and are very hospitable. The Thai food served in the restaurant is a real taste of authentic Thai cooking. It’s very fresh, they use herbs (Basil) right from plants growing next to the restaurant. Overall an excellent experience at a very reasonable price.

We had a great 1 week stay at Pano Resort. Love to sit and look over the sea either at the balcony or under the bungalow. We brought our own beach chair. Staff and food was great. This place is how the Thai island's used to be.

The place really needs maintenance. Also this place is not for everyone's taste.
