I think it's a comfortable place to stay. The room was ok, with a comfortable bed, the bathroom was spacious and very clean, all appliances functioning well. The personnel is very friendly, I appreciate it very much that I was allowed to come earlier than the check-in time. I liked the street very much - nice old houses, beautiful mosques, and very quiet even at the weekend. Inside the hotel it was also very quiet, though the rooms are really not sound-proof at all, you will hear absolutely all, but the guests were very polite and didn't make much noise at night. I didn't mind it that there was no breakfast or cleaning, because I don't usually have breakfast and I don't like other people in my room, so for me it was comfortable like this. Sometimes wi-fi was down but recovered quickly.

The impression was spoiled a little on the last day, as I asked to stay longer after check-out. I was asked 25 usd for it and I paid 25 euro, that is even more taking into account the Lira exchange rate. It was settled that I can keep the room till 20.30 but at about 19.30 I was asked if I can wait in the kitchen as the personnel wanted to clean for a new guest. I didn't want to argue, but being sick I was a bit dissatisfied and upset, as I paid for the room not for the kitchen. But ok, I learnt the lesson, in the future I'd better get warm and spend money in the cafes while waiting for the flight, not in hotels.

The location of hotel is excellent. There are several restaurants with oriental food around. 5 minutes to metro and 10 minutes to grand bazar. The owner is very nice and polite person, who aspire to do everything for you to make your vacation comfortable.

First of all I want to mention that there were no room service: you shlould clean everythingby yourself. It is not a hotel in standard understanding, it is hostel with private rooms. Soundproofing is another big problem if you have sensetive sleeping. My advice to ask room with opposite of street view

First thing I need to mention, Halil "The Host" is SUPER when it comes to communication, whether we speak about respect, kindness, or all other positive traits. On my first day, he allowed me to have a 1-2 hours early check-in, gave me the keys of my room and building, gave me a tour on the street and its main restaurants, supermarkets, shops... As I chose to pay in cash, booking price was in Euros and I had Dollars .. he used the online Exchange Rate and gave me the Dollar price without any exchange fee or even asking me to exchange the money myself. As neither me nor him had changes ($10, $20, $50), he was fine when I told him I would give him the $100 and the rest will be given to him when I have change .. and since I used to leave by 06:00 a.m. and come back around 23:00 we couldn't meet, and he did wait until my last 12-Hours to get the rest of the money without harassing/reporting me. THIS WAS HIGHLY APPRECIATED! The room had a closet, desk, mirror, refrigerator, small red lights beneficial while sleeping. Small common kitchen at the basement with Laundry and Ironing tools. A single laundry was equivalent to 5 USD or EURO (150 Turkish Lira in Mid-December 2023) Within 10 minutes walk to nearest bus station, M2 metro, T1 tram. Very safe in the morning since it's next to University building, so a lot of young students.

Those are the negative things that I found, but they will not affect the total rate of my review since they didn't bother me a lot. 1. Since my room was on ground floor, and it was with a street window, I heard all the conversation of the people walking by my room, even when they whisper. 2. Although bed and towels were clean, one of the towels had a small circular yellow color on one of its edges "it clearly didn't go by washing". 3. Since he was hosting other people, maybe families, I always hear them talking to each other in the corridor or on the stairs .. they were behaving like they're at their own home "maybe I'm mistaken and they were really the owners at the basement, but I had to mention this".

The hotel is located in the most fantastic little street with many great restaurants, cafes and shops. The place is clean and modern with good light, spacious toilet and comfortable bed. There is also a sizeable fridge in the room. Great value for money and very kind owners! Very cheap to do laundry. We wish we would've stayed here longer as we so enjoyed the location and the place.

We thought the kitchen was free to use all day but I don't think this is the case. A kettle would be a great addition to the room. The blow-dryer is wired into the wall and has a blue electric spark when used!

the city itself wasn't so no, I think you have to be able to deal with the fact that there is a lot of dirt on the streets and a lot of poverty

The host was super helpful, kind, and ready to assist in whatever was needed. The place is within an easy walk from most important sights and has restaurants and cafes within a few meters, on the very same street. The airport transfer (to and fro) was arranged by the host with professional precision, was absolutely comfortable and without any problems.

The room was super small, not enough space for clothes and belongings, not a single wardrobe. We had to put most of our things on the floor.

Halil is an excellent host, he is the living proof of Turkish hospitality. Thank you Halil!

So, the best place when I have ever been! My boyfriend and I spent five days here and it was really gorgeous experience. The room was clean, comfortable and cozy. Mücahit is so pleasure and honest man, who helped us with all questions, which we had. He speaks English and you can ask him about everything. Thanks to him we could feel the Turkish culture and hospitality. If we will visit Istanbul again, we will choose this place.

Halil Bey Konağı! is very good choice for touristic visiting of Istanbul. Located in a nice area, close to a lot of faculties, with lots of small restaurants. Walking distance to almost all visiting points. The owner waited for us and helped us for mange parking. Also lady in kitchen hosted us as we are at home.

Polite and calm administrator, speaking Russian as well. Easy communication with the owner of the apartment. The room is located in the city center, clean. In the kitchen you are always ready to drink tea or coffee.
