The breakfast we had was exceptional, exceeded our expectations in terms of quality and taste by quite a lot. The bed was very comfortable and fell asleep almost as soon as I entered the room. The room came with complimentary Flap Jacks which I thought was a nice touch to the overall service and the toilet was very clean and well kept.

I got charged an extra £12 because I ordered an extra French Toast at breakfast which I thought it was included as part of the breakfast provided. This wasn't disclosed to me until checkout. It did taste really good though. Would do it again.

We had a brilliant stay at the Riverside Inn. The Inn is full of character, situated on the banks of the River Lugg where you can sit by the river for a drink and watch the kingfishers fly past. It is surrounded by beautiful walks through ancient woodland with some of the largest oak trees you'll ever see! Our room was a really good size double, complete with 2 armchairs and a mini fridge. The food is incredible, full of fresh seasonal herbs and vegetables grown on site in their small holding. We are both vegan and one of us gluten free but this was absolutely no problem at all for the staff. They catered for our needs without any fuss at all. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. This is a fabulous place to stay and we will definitely come back with our doggo!

There was nothing we did not like only that we had to go home

A warm welcome on arrival. We had asked for packed lunches for our walk on the Sunday and before we checked to see if they were ready/had they remembered, George (the owner) happily confirmed that the hearty sandwiches and a few extras for our long walk was ready to collect! A really tasty breakfast and dinner menu - seasonal ingredients, something for everyone. The roast chicken was succulent and the cauliflower cheese tasted of cheese AND cauliflower, rather than floury-goop as sometimes served in other gastro pubs. Decent sized portions too - not too large, not too stingy. I would happily recommend this place to everyone - whether stopping just for lunch or staying the night. Lovely friendly staff.

Sunday "lunch" at 6pm was excellent and the staff were exceptionally pleasant especially George, the manager. Room was warm and comfy with a great shower and set in a pretty terraced garden. The River Lugg flows by and there are tables to sit at and enjoy watching the water over a glass of something. Breakfast included some of the tastiest marmalade I have ever eaten. All in all an excellent inn and very good value for money.

On the side dishes at dinner, roasted roots might have been preferable to roast potatoes which get hard after a few hours of keeping warm but readers will realise that I'm struggling to find anything I didn't like!

We stayed in the garden king ensuite (Beechenbank) and it was perfect. I loved the bath (a main reason for booking that particular room) and the bed was so comfortable. Everyone who looked after us in the hotel and restaurant were lovely and made us feel at home. The meal we had was one of the best I've had in a really long time; we stayed on a Sunday night so had the roast dinner - my celeriac main was beautiful and fresh and my partner went for chicken which was the most tender and delicious chicken I've ever tasted! For pudding I had to go for the blue cheese ice cream which was absolutely amazing. I enjoyed it so much. We had a fabulous time at this gorgeous inn and hope to be back again before too long.

Superb shower in ensuite, and good selection of teas and coffees in the room. Excellent breakfast. Nice that you have automatically got a dinner reservation in the restaurant, and that more vegetarian options were offered in addition to what was on the menu when we mentioned we were veggie.

A vegetarian option for the full English on the breakfast menu would have been nice, although it might have been available if we had asked. The mini-fridge in the room kept switching on to cool throughout the night which was a little disturbing, might have been quiter if it was in a cupboard? Also we could only find one available plug socket to use, I know there was a USB charger there but that's no good for hairdryers/straighteners, etc.

Everything was excellent! We received a warm welcome on arrival, and our room was ready for us much earlier than expected. The location is excellent, we dropped our bags and went straight out on a big circular walk from the Inn, around Croft Castle. Great pub, nice fire, excellent local beer and a lovely atmosphere. Our evening meal was of exceptional standard with a comprehensive and well-priced wine list to choose from. Our room was spacious and comfortable with nice big towels, good water pressure, a comfortable bed etc etc. George runs a tight ship in the front of house, and this is reflected in all aspects of the Inn's hospitality.

I think the ambience in the pub/ dining room could be improved with a slightly more curated playlist, but I'm clutching at straws and that's really the only thing I could mention here - great experience overall!

Honestly - everything! Location was lovely- nice village, pub by the river, very picturesque. Service- second to none! George absolutely understands customer service, and delivers 110%, including the way he trains his junior staff. Food- excellent! Andy knows his stuff. All food was well cooked, Andy knows how to balance flavours and has a great feel for what works. Much of the produce is locally sourced. Room- comfortable and spacious with all the small attention to detail that we appreciate. Bar area- great ambiance, great beer! Big thumbs-up! Surroundings- pretty wooded river valley, plenty of wildlife and nice walks.

Only that the heating was a little warm for us. If you want a good internet connection this is probably not the place for you; but why would you need it when everything about this place is so good? It’s a perfect place to relax and get away from it all.

EVERYTHING. The public areas and rooms were beautifully appointed …and so comfortable. The evening meal was exceptional & if I could give it 10* I would. I loved the fact that the chef had a vegetable garden so he could pick the produce & herbs fresh every day. Some of the sauces were tantalising. Probably the best meal we’ve ever had. The vegetable garden is on terraces above the hotel. And there are gorgeous gardens with tables at the first level and a small area by the river .. PERFECT

The staff are friendly and helpful with the property in a lovely location. The garden rooms are fun and comfortable. Steps up the garden to get to the rooms and low door frames for the tall to duck under. Underfloor heating was very effective and the water piping hot. We had dinner in restaurant and the food and service were exceptional. Breakfast was excellent too.

Nothing much. We were aware that there was no mobile phone signal before we arrived, offset by good WiFi. The bathroom had a shaving mirror but not over the sink. Lighting was a little dim in the restaurant to read the menu.
