Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent value for money for both accommodation and food, restaurant food is standard pub fare but we'll cooked (excellent chips). The unbelievable history of this property is highlighted in the welcome pack and well worth the stay just for this.

Would have liked a few restaurant dishes on the menu and an option of a cooked breakfast, some better wines also. Struggled to get anything better than warm water.

Lovely old building with its own car parking at the rear. Our room was spacious and comfortable with everything we needed. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful and made our all too brief stay feel like we were amongst friends.

The buffet breakfast was lovely but a cooked breakfast option would have been better, even the option of porridge would have been a nice addition.

A fabulous location and really lovely friendly staff. We stayed across the road in a one bedroom apartment- it was clean and provided everything needed. The breakfast was basic but adequate to start the day.

Beautiful rooms, all very spacious. Bathrooms were clean and the bath was long enough for tall people to relax comfortably. Very comfortable beds Staff went out of their way to ensure everyone was well looked after.

I am used to a full English breakfast, so it was disappointing to have a small choice, for breakfast. The location was alright, the room was excellent, clean and tidy. The staff were polite and friendly.

I have no complaint about my short stay.

Great location. Parking free and right by our room. Friendly staff. Excellent evening meals - we had chicken kebabs, fish and chips, and Mediterranean tart. Breakfast is continental and had good range of foods to choose. WiFi fast and reliable. Decent sized smart tv’s in room.

We stayed in one of the coach houses. Needs a mirror in the bedrooms as the only one was in the bathroom. Need somewhere to put toiletries such as toothbrushes and toothpaste etc in the bathroom as no cabinet or shelves.

Location is central but quiet. The car park is at rear and the hotel accessed via a garden. Room was lovely and very atmospheric. I stayed here several times as a boy because my mum was evacuated to Presteigne during WW2. We came back to visit her host family. Little has altered. All the good things about the hotel remain, with wifi and upgraded rooms!

The hotel is badly understaffed. One person to handle breakfast and reception on the Sunday (He was also the Saturday Night Porter!).

Location very good. Would have much preferred a full English breakfast. Prices of drinks good. Main meals very good, ate in each night,and one lunchtime. Staff friendly host also. Excellent garden set up, but couldn't use outside area due to heavy rain and settled snow.

Drafty windows. Heating was quite low. Would have been nice to see log fires blazing. The stairs would benefit from a stair rail. Bathroom was a little short on space, Thought the large towel rail might better placed by the sink.

Really nice welcome and I didnt arrive until gone 10pm. Was given a drink from the bar although there was no-one else about

Breakfast was rather disappointing as I always think a breakfast set up the day and particularly as I arrived very lat the night before so had no supper . A continental breakfast with bought sliced bread toased, butter and jams in packets, but suspect this was because of the time of year. I dont believe there was anyone on site overnight but we were given a telephone number for emergencies. Very noisy fan in bathroom .

Continental-style breakfast was fine, the wood-panelled dining-room was a lovely setting. Both bedrooms were of a very good size. My grand-daughter, especially, loved the jacuzzi bath.

The hotel makes it quite clear that it does not have a lift. After all, it is a very old building to which additional areas have been built over time. But it does mean that some of the staircases are quite steep. While the grandchildren had no problem with them, my 85 year-old mother did find them a bit of an effort.
