Short walk from train station (or car park at the station if you're driving - the Southgate) Our room on the 1st floor (number 12) had been newly refurbished - it was clean and comfortable. It was well equipped with towels, clothes hangers, tea making facilities, biccies and lovely Bramley products in the bathroom Location was very central, short walk from everything, including the Christmas market! Breakfast was available from 8am and was included in our room rate. This was in the pub downstairs. We had the West Country breakfast and waffles, both excellent and filling. Walk-ins are also accepted if you're visiting friends and family, but need to order and pay at the bar separately. Wifi was excellent! Given the central location, there was a little noise from outside, but much less than expected. Did not affect our enjoyment of the room or quality of sleep
Due to the ongoing refurbishments, we had some trouble opening and closing the street level entrance door. You need to give it a good push or pull. The temperature control for the shower and taps is very sensitive, going from lukewarm to boiling hot within a fraction of a turn. So just be careful when adjusting the temperature. For those who are not too mobile, please note that there is no lift.

Upon arrival I discovered that the venue did not have a car park and we had to park in the local multi storey car park over night which cost us a further £18, and we had to walk in the rain back to the venue. and I went to the bar to check in when I was told by the bar tender that we had an outstanding bill that needed to be paid, I asked how this could be considering that I had just arrived, she said I had to pay for my room, I said I was planning on having dinner and some drinks if I could add this to the bill and pay in full on one bill I was told that there were no "tabs" allowed and we had to pay as we go I paid the bill and we were shown to our room, When booking the room I asked for a low level room because I have limited mobility and struggle with stairs, we were put on the top floor and I had to struggle with 4 floors of steep stairs. On entering the room, it was claen and neat, however for a dog friendly hotel it did not have any fasilities for the dog i.e a water bowl, but we managed to improvise I would say that the venue is dog tollerat rather than Friendly. We went back down to the bar and I told the bar tender that we had a table booked for dinner at 8pm, she told me that the kitchen closed at 19.30, I asked how I had managed to book a table for 8pm if the kitchen closed at 19.30 she said with a shrug ok 19.45, again I mentioned that the literature in the room and on the menu said food served til 9pm she said kitchen closes at 8pm, it was about 6.30 and we wanted to go and look around Bath, so we went for a short walk and arrived back at 19.30 for some food, we both ordered starters and a main, which was all served together, I said that we intended the whitebait we had ordered to come as a strater, she strugged and said Kitchen closes at 8pm, I took a bite of the whitebait it was burnt, I did not complian because it was clear to me that the staff couldn't careless, we ate the main and went to our room.
The Bar staff were not welcoming or unhelpful, with avery poor attitude in most hostelrys guests pay at the end of the visit, we were treated like we were untrustworthy. The beer was not well kept and the wine was pricey, having to leave the car away from the venue was concerning and added an unseen extra cost, it would have been good to be warned that this was the case. We own a business in the hospitality industry, watching the staff turn away in total 9 people all of whom were looking for a meal, was frustrating and the staffs in difference towards the customers was appauling.

Could not get a better location for exploring the city. The room was comfortable, we had a double room on the 1st floor and although a little on the small side it was very comfortable and we were only in it for sleeping. The bathroom was lovely and clean and had a nice shower and we had tea and coffee making facilities in the room which was perfect for the morning. I loved the quirkiness of the building our room had a slight slant to it and it added to the character. Amazing breakfast, I had the West Country cooked breakfast every morning as it was amazing! Annie who worked in the bar was lovely, she greeted us every morning with a friendly welcome and was a great worker running round after the guests. If I came to bath again I would stay here again.
Nothing really our stay was perfect.

Room was very clean and had all necessary amenities for our stay. What amazing value, with a complimentary breakfast of your choice in the pub/restaurant downstairs. You can choose from their breakfast menu, which comes with tea/coffee & orange juice. It was delicious! Location was very convenient. Staff were super kind and friendly. My partner was sick at the time and they were very flexible with our requests.
Not much to complain about. Perhaps just that the window was not very sound proof, so there was some noise from outside (people/traffic), plus the walls were not that soundproof either so could hear our neighbours a little. But this didn't stop us from having a great sleep or enjoying our stay!!

Charming old inn feel was very nice. The breakfast were great as well. Fairly good location on the edge of the pedestrian part of the city
It didn’t really hit the website advertised “21st century luxuries” in the rooms. The website gave the impression of something a bit more boutique. The en-suite shower was also not great; it was tiny and due to the “character” (not flat floor) of the building it suffered from one door that always tried to lose on you as you got out, the magnetic strip didn’t hold the doors closed and the bottom and so the bathroom had a tendency to get wet.

When traveling to Bath, we wanted to experience the city's culture, which is why we chose The Black Fox. The bathroom was a bit small for our six-foot-tall frames, but it was a minor inconvenience. We were issued a skeleton key to open the side door (it was like stepping into our private residence), which led to the stairs that took us to our room. The food was authentic, the drinks were just right, and the location was perfect. Our stay at The Black Fox enhanced our adventure to Bath.
The bathroom was small but functional. We observed that small sinks are standard in the country. Our height made bending over to use the sink an exciting challenge but nothing too tricky.

Spacious room with a super comfortable bed and big bathroom. Absolutely lovely staff in the pub downstairs. Great location walking distance from everywhere you need to go, including thermae spas just across the road if you're after an afternoon of pampering. Really enjoyed my stay and would absolutely stay again, two flights of stairs not-withstanding!
Not a dislike but would love to see a little more variety in the breakfast offerings eg any sides to go with the poached eggs on toast. The locks on the doors are a little old school and can be a bit tricky to get the key into the right spot.

Maximum 5 minute stroll (not even fast pace) from the train station. The Black Fox is located right in the heart of everything, you can walk to all the attractions, can't score high enough on location. Nice rooms, very clean, friendly staff. Lovely, cosy, well stocked bar. Limited food menu. If you want a sensibly priced, excellently located, clean base for a trip to Bath, look no further this will tick all those boxes.
We're not getting any younger and the bed was a little 'saggy'. Plus there wasn't the normal TV channels, everything was through the Freeview or catch up services. We weren't in Bath to watch TV but it was a faff. The breakfast was good but limited. No cereals to start. Choice of tea, coffee or juice. Not juice in addition to hot drink. It was tasty, it was enough but not the greatest breakfast we've ever eaten despite what other reviews had said. These are really minor niggles, in no way should it put you off, it certainly would not put us off returning again one day!

The room was lovely. Nice and spacious bathroom. Tea, cookies and a bottle of water were provided. The TV could be coupled to streaming providers. Soft bead with warm and comfy bedding. The location of the hotel is also very good. Close enough to the station to easily walk there and close to everything in Bath and yet quiet at night. The breakfast offered was a la carte with many nice options, gluten-free and vegan options available :)
My room was on the 3rd floor. Only accessible via narrow and steep stairs. It was a bit of a struggle to get my suitcase up to the room.

The property was smack bang in the middle of Bath. A two minute walk from the shops, the Roman Baths and some lovely restaurants and Cafes. Ideal location! The bed was comfortable, the bathroom clean and it was easy to find.
The property lists parking included, which isn’t true! There is no parking at all, you have to park in one of surrounding multi storey car parks which worked out to £36 for 48 hours. I booked a King room, however, upon further investigation the “King Room” listing is a double bed, so not sure where the King comes into it. The room was also very hot, but fans are provided which was great!
