It was much appreciated the quick action the staff took when the electricity failed in my room whom quickly offered an alternative. Both rooms were very comfortable and the bathroom facilities were modern. It was also an advantage that the hotel had an onsite restaurant considering I was using the room as an office.

If you are on a street facing room, there is not a lot of sound insulation to stop the outside noise entering the room. Not a problem with me but something to have in mind for others. The court yard facing rooms were very quite.

The room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Tea, coffee, water and biscuits in the room which was a nice touch. In the bathroom, there were very small shower gels. I would have preferred dispensers but there is a small shop next door to solve this. The hotel is decorated well but the stairs to the bedrooms might be an issue to people with mobility issues.

We come down for breakfast at 9.30. Tea cups etc hadn't been replaced and we had to ask for more. The breakfast menu is varied. The breakfast is big but needs to cooked with more care.

I loved the convenient location for convenience of the village and the friendly welcoming on arrival. I was offered help with my bag but I declined even though the room was on the top floor. The room depicted the age and character of the building but also provided the efficient modern bathroom, TV and wifi facilities which fulflled the home comforts. I thoroughly enjoyed the full English breakfast on both days and I was very impressed with the choice of menu available for lunch, dinner and snacks. Every member of staff I spoke to was friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Lion Hotel again if the need arises.

It's a shame there wasn't a lift to higher rooms for the benefit of people with mobility issues. On the health & safety side, there was a rug in my room with a curled-up corner. It could have been turned in a clockwise direction thereby hiding the obvious trip hazzard. The daily housekeeping staff were obviously very thorough and efficient, so I was amazed to find an old cigarette end on the bathroom floor when I went back to the room on day two. I can only assume that it must have come from a mop she'd used to clean the floor. As an avid non-smoker I have to say it wasn't a pleasant find. Otherwise the room was spotless. It's also a shame that the hotel doesn't have its own onsite carpark.

Location was great , in the centre of town. Short walk to the canal to walk to dog. Choice of 4 pubs in the village. Breakfast was fantastic, hot and a good choice . Room was a bit small but comfy bed and great shower . Decor was modern and room very clean . Food in the restaurant was good and great service. There’s a lovely courtyard to have a drink . Very dog friendly.

Room was very hot, although it was a hot day . Our room was at the front of the building and was a bit noisy at night . But we were there one night so wasn’t an issue .

Evening dinner very good, Staff pleasant and helpful. Full cooked breakfast was enormous!! Room adequate (for a one night stay). although may be a bit cramped for a longer stay

No decaff tea available in room or at breakfast. We thought that the choice of breakfast cereals was rather limited No 'attached' parking at the hotel Stairs to 1st floor room concerning and could be dangerous if carrying large suitcase either in or out. Our stay was a Saturday night and the restaurant was very busy which made it very noisy

The old style building was beautiful. The room was small but sufficient. Bathroom was lovely. The breakfast was superb.

Stained carpet, large gap under door which let in a constant flashing green from the emergency exit sign. TV which was barely even HD quality. Windows so thin it sounded like they were open. And a room which wasn't level. Putting things on the bedside cabinet would roll off as they are at an angle. And dressing table which wasn't near a mirror so not suitable for a woman to do hair or make up. As the plugs were not close to the mirror that was available. Simple little basic things.

Very helpful and friendly. Bedroom kitted out to a high standard. Immaculately clean. Breakfast was delicious and although included in the cost of our room we paid extra for barrister coffees which we were very happy to do. There was an excellent and quality selection of breakfasts available. The staff were helpful and friendly. We use the bar in the evening and ate in the grill restaurant which was very busy. Service was quick and the food delicious. we will definitely go again within the next six months

Well kitted out and clean. The only downside was we had to park on the road nearby. Had we been staying after 9 am parking restrictions would have applied.

great front of house staff here. all very attentive and really handled all the customers efficiently. Pleasure to see a great working pub/restaurant

Long way up to the top rooms - and one stair really needs attention as it has a broken step which made me stumble when loaded up with my cases on the way down from the room. This hotel has no parking and its a small busy village so your best be is park in the public car park behind the pub - its only about 1 minute and seems safe.

The staff were very professional and polite. the property communal areas, bar, restaurant, etc are exceptional and the food and drink were to our liking. The breakfast was excellent.

The radiator did not work and the room was cold when we entered but this was compensated when the provided oil radiator was turned on. We were not too keen on the smoked glass door leading to the on-suite, we would have welcomed a little more privacy. The mattress/bed is a little too squeaky. It would have been nice to provide parking but understand with the village layout that was not possible and it was not really an issue as we arrived and left within the free street parking period.

Lovely pub / restaurant, food was excellent. Unfortunately couldn't stay for breakfast as I had to be away early. Room was clean and staff were very friendly.

No car parking, bookings.com advertised the hotel with car parking. Having said that I parked on the road outside the hotel which was fine as only a small village. There is a public car park at the back of the hotel but I preferred the road at the front. Wi-fi and phone signal were pretty poor, however I was in a room at the back of the hotel which may have made a difference.
