Great location , lovely comfortable and well appointed rooms . Breakfast was lovely even for vegetarians like us, with very helpful and friendly staff

Dinner was difficult for us as vegetarians. My first choice was potato pie ( in pastry ) with baked beans and either mashed potato or potato chips. That's 3 potato choices and pastry. Rather a lot of carbohydrates/potato . Little protein or green veg. We settled on the veggie Wellington with Roast potatoes .poor bought in Wellington soggy veg, left the soggy roasts. Apparently it was our fault for not asking for something else!

The character and age of the Red Lion added to our enjoyment of our stay Beautiful location with immediate walking access to green spaces and the the River Wharfe. Delicious evening meal and breakfast quality and choice just perfect.

In the evenings the smell from deep fat friers or cooking oil was a little unpleasant, it was particularly prevalent in the front bar area and staircase and landing of the 1st floor bedrooms. Noisy radio/music blaring from the kitchen area on 1 of the mornings of our stay in room no. 5.

Brilliant location on the Wharfe with lots of walking options. Riverside terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a pint (other refreshments are available). The 'cottages' are well-appointed (good little kitchen!) with lots of space to relax after long walks, or afternoons on the terrace. Staff all friendly and breakfasts magnificent!

One tiny quibble - a proper sieve/colander for draining pasta etc., and maybe a pair of scissors would have been perfect. Other than that, the kitchen facilities were great.

The location was excellent for seeing all the All Creatures Great and Small filming locations. We even got to see “Mrs. Hall” and extras filming in Grassington, the next town over. It’s a terrific spot with some wonderful footpaths to enjoy, one in use since 1000 AD. Definitely get out and walk after driving the roads to clear your head, the roads are narrow.

The pub vibe was a bit tepid, not a lively crowd even while watching English football! I would say the restaurant lacks the coziness of others we enjoyed, but the staff was super helpful and kind.

Food was excellent, staff were really helpful and pleasant to talk to.

The hotel is quaint and a proper country pub, but the lounge area resembles my grandma's from the 1950's, not very welcoming or comfortable and really needs decorating and some new furniture. The seats in the modern dining room extension were extremely stained and not inviting to sit on at all, especially in an eating area. Yet a simple wash over with a damp cloth and some detergent would solve this or even invest in a small washer vacuum cleaner. All in all, too much appears to have been spent on the extensions (obviously to cater for weddings and larger groups to bring the revenues in) but i feel that some attention to the main building, its decor and ambiance to spruce it up, make it appear cleaner and more comfortable would go a very very long way.

A very comfortable 2 night stay at this wonderful location. Home from home. Log fires, very friendly staff and super relaxing. I have been visiting Burnsall for years but never stayed here before.always a place to gather for drinks or food before. I loved getting up and walking the river walk whilst drinking in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales . The church is well worth a visit for its history. I would definitely recommend. The room had uneven floors and a step up in to the bath/shower which some may struggle with although it had a hand rail. For me it added to the charm and age of the building I stayed in room 8 and the view was lovely

Dinner was okay, food could have been better presented instead of asking eggs 4 different ways, but a lovely breakfast all the same. Staff in morning were lovely and Manager was terrific and helpful. Staff in evening didn't really want to be there I felt We had a lot of suitcases and too many stairs for us , only hassle though

Evening staff - were all over each over, and needed to have one person doing bar and others waitressing in restaurant, as they seemed to trip over each other. Actual food was good, but not everyone wants chips with every meal

The staff were super friendly and were really helpful getting us a few extra things at breakfast for our 1 year old. There was a good variety of options available at breakfast, and everything we tried was delicious. The location is extremely beautiful; we stayed in one of the cottages on the river side, and the views from our room overlooking the bridge were just stunning. The location was very quiet and peaceful, which is exactly what we were looking for. We would love to come and visit again.

Lovely clean. Spacious rooms. Plenty of tea and coffee in the rooms. Nice big towels. We also had food at teatime and breakfast. There was more then plenty. Very tasty and value for money. Also dog friendly so when I was missing my fur baby's there was one to cuddle or chat about.

Lovely location, the parking entrance would be a worry for me on a busy day if i was driving,as it just before a little hump back bridge and on a corner. I am a nervous driver but no reflection on food or stay

The Manor House family was such a lovely space. Staff extremely welcoming, location awesome , great pub and lounge.

Thought the food was very average. Pork Belly was fatty. Fish pie had barely any fish. We were all a bit gutted. It was a monday so maybe the main chef was off !! Restaurant lacked atmosphere &comfort..also I love dogs, but they allowed huge dogs into the restaurant and half the time they were barking. Surely let them in the pub, absolutely , but the restaurant was a bit much. The breakfast was a little dated in what it offered but was satisfactory. Don't let this put you off, the place is special .
