The host is very polite and friendly, the rooms are cosy, comfortable, and clean. The rooms are quiet and there is a garden with birds. The breakfast was convenient, quality okay for the price. The apartment is easy to reach from the city center. It is nice to walk cross the nearby river and the park to St. Johns Colledge. I highly recommend the Carlton Lodge.

Payment could have been easier, my card didn't work with the check machine (I check my bank account before) – so I had to transfer from euro to pound and there were taxes.

The location is ideal, only a short walk to the city centre but in an area that is relatively quiet and peaceful. The best part was Ciaran's service as host, as well as the lovely breakfast in the morning. He also provided tea and coffee in the room.

The shared bathroom is a bit small, but I was able to have a shower without any issues and there was also a sink in my room for brushing my teeth. The room is fairly simple, but great value for the price.

Breakfast was good and sufficient. The place was very quiet and peaceful. The atmosphere very relaxed, homey and comfortable. Interesting conversations with the host and other guests at breakfast time.

Basically clean and fresh but a little bit run down. A few more hooks to hang clothes and wet towels would have been welcome. The bathroom extremely small but we got used to it after the first shower.

The Owner and the Staff were very, very, very friendly and the level of their hosbitality was extraordinary. I very much enjoyed knowing and meeting them. The breakfast was very good.

Although I booked a One bed room, the size of the room was aprox. 1.5 m x 3m (so not very big!) but comparing to other good thing in the local... that can not consider as a negetive point.

The location is fine, not far from the main Cambridge University buildings. A good vibe of a cosy private house. The host was very nice and chatted with all of the visitors during the breakfast. Breakfast was very good, and the host always was happy to make amendments based on my requests.

The host is very kind, has excellent humor, was always up for a chat, and answered all my questions about Cambridge. Very "at home" atmosphere. Bed mattress was excellent. Everything very clean. Location is perfect to visit the May bumps rowing competition on the Cam, which was the main purpose of my visit :-) The main part of town (where all the colleges etc are) can be reached by foot within 15 min.

I needed an accommodation near the Cambridge University St. John's college and was happy to have stayed in the Carlton Lodge. The host is very kind and even provided me a power adapter since I forgot to bring mine. It was always nice to have a chat with him. The room was cozy and warm, with a TV, water sink, and kettle - for me, everything I needed. The WC was directly nearby. All in all a very nice stay - thanks a lot! :)

Great location, just 5 minutes to the town centre by bus. The bus stop is just over the road and the number 2 bus is every 10 minutes.

Taxi fares are quite expensive in Cambridge. I have nothing bad to say about our stay....

The breakfast was prepared by the house owner who was quite like my grandparent. It was warm and nice. The location is quite convenient, near to both the city center and West Cambridge. The bus station is just 20 meters away.

A friendly host and decent price. Modest but sufficient breakfast. Bus stops for several routes are within easy reach, as well as the river.

The temperature in the bathroom was somewhat low, so I had no desire to take a shower. Some areas need more frequent dusting.
