This was a great place to stay for a quick overnight. Finding my room was a little confusing, but I eventually found the room with no issues. Everything in the room was perfect for one person for an overnight and they even provided a few amenities like tea, coffee, biscuits, and toiletries. Breakfast was buffet style in another building, so it was easy to take my rucksack with me to breakfast and check out afterwards.
The room was cold overnight and I couldn't figure out how to turn on the heat, so I think better instructions for the heater would help. The bathroom was up a step so don't forget in the middle of the night!

Porters were very friendly and helpful. The grounds were lovely. The bed was comfortable and the place was spotless and the furnishings are new. We got fresh towels every day if we wanted them. The old double hung windows opened and we looked out on an attractive quad. The hot water was plentiful in our en-suite bathroom (a must) and the shower was great. I recommend getting the full English breakfast. It’s plentiful and good quality. For wheat eaters there is a vast array breads, croissant and pastry. Alas nothing for gluten free, only Schar cornflakes. Milk was cow or soy(same in the room). I went next door to Tesco Express and bought Oatly. Christ’s is incredibly central. Most other colleges are 5 minutes away,, same with the market place, several banks and there’s a cab rank across from Christ’s front entrance.
The internet was impossible to connect to my iPhone and iPad. After a lot of fiddling my husband’s laptop(Microsoft) finally connected. Other guests had the iPhone issue. The other problem is seasonal. Our room was freezing. Two nights we had to sleep with our coats on the duvet. It was freezing in the dining hall at breakfast. Finally the college turned on the heat when the night temps were in the 40s. We were fine dragging luggage up to the third floor (in our 70s) since there were lots of landings. But be aware.

The staff were very helpful when I arrived. I got to see the chapel at night time and they also gave me info where to go within the college and outwith the college grounds for sightseeing. The room was spacious and in the new building there were lifts. I would come back again.
I couldn't see where to turn the heating down as it was too warm for me to sleep. Although there was a lift to the Upper Hall, I wasn't sure if I could use this as it was also used for the kitchen in the Upper Hall. I just took my time going up and down the stairs. There was a slight problem with my breakfast but that was sorted out quick by the staff.

The College and its charming porters. It was a very cold night, but the central heating could easily cope.
The hot shower for our rooms was rather intermittent, going from hot to cold, and back again, in a minute. There are traffic control cameras in the street (both sides with double yellow lines) outside the College, so one risks a fine, if one stops to drop off, or pick up, passengers and suit-cases. The car-park at West Grafton (a large Shopping centre) was closed on Friday. There were however still a few empty spaces, but not many, in East Grafton car-park. The cost of parking from 1pm till 8 am was nearly £35.

The ancient buildings, the garden, the setting, the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff. The nearness to the other colleges.
The pod bathroom had a slight smell of urine, I don't think it was due to poor cleaning, I think it was probably to do with the construction. But it did not affect my enjoyment. Aesthetically the modern block I was staying in encapsulated all that I find unattractive in last century architecture. The vastness of the concrete is an eyesore and I don't see an easy way to soften it. Merely a personal view, there will be many people who admire brutalist architecture. It is probably listed. I didn't mind the vast flight of steps up to the entrance, but I didn't enjoy seeing two chaps having to lift what looked like multiple heavy bed frames or mattresses up them. What poor design not to have a lift.

Brilliant location and access to the college gardens - I would stay here again in future. Beats staying in a hotel, replacing the hotel luxuries with amazing garden views and centre of town location! And you can also have breakfast at the dining hall which I enjoyed - again pretty unique experience compared to staying in a regular hotel!
I had researched what to expect so the fact that bathroom was down the corridor and the rooms are basic didn’t bother me at all. For the price you pay, you get a student room in a great location. In the old building, the floorboards are noisy so if you’re a light sleeper, perhaps go with a room in the newer building.

Location was great for stepping out into the beauty of Cambridge. Breakfast was everything you could want to set you up for the day. College environs / gardens were lovely. Good price for a lovely experience.
WiFi connection not initially successful and staff available at first not able to help or find anyone who could - but expected guests to simply go into Cambridge and find a hotspot. Took some pointing out that the facility was promised to get further help! Some of the surroundings could have been a little less than safe / a little dangerous for some guests. Badly lit concrete steps (35 of them!) up to the property. Temporary boarding laid on the grass - again unlit - and difficult to navigate at night-time.

The rooms are located in Christ's College in the absolute heart of Cambridge. Extensive gardens with seats, peace and quiet although the bustling city is just over the wall. Breakfast was excellent with a full english breakfast, cheese and cold meats, croissants, toast all available. It should be noted (the college points this out in the booking) that most rooms are student rooms and don't have hotel facilities. Mine had a shared bathroom which was no problem at all. Although the college is quite extensive, there are key fob operated gates allowing 24 hour entry from all sides. The college staff was very helpful and persistent in solving problems. The college is surrounded by shops, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance. Bus stops are within a few yards and the main bus station is less than 200 yards away.
The main drawback (pointed out by the college during the booking) is that all access is by walking and climbing stairs. This would be a restriction for a person with limited mobility (I didn't enquire what solutions the college might offer for this.)

Location was excellent. Room was large but poorly laid out. Staff in Buttery and Porters Lodge were very helpful. Lovely grounds .Great value for money.
Room had 2 beds which we had requested but we're poorly laid out so there was no sockets for bedside lamp or to charge phone for one bed space. Bathroom needed to be better cleaned and maintained and hair was found in the tray containing shower gel. I expected stairs but not an open tread spiral staircase, with a large gap between rails. I am scared of this type of stair and was lucky to have my friend. We struggled to get onto the Internet but the Porters helped get us connected. As a student room surprised there was no usb or c sockets. Lighting to wall was too large and bright.

Staying at a Cambridge college was magical. It was what we wanted and it fully compensated for some of the less ideal aspects. The old buildings and the garderns were beautiful and the location was great. Room was large, clean and quiet. We could leave our bags in the porters' lodge after check-out.
The confusing architecture of building 4, combined with lack of signage (consider adding a floor plan at the entrance, maybe?) resulted in a good 10-minute search for our room. Also, many stairs as we were on the 4th floor. The room had attic-like windows, so both the staircase and the room could get a little stuffy on a hotter day.
