Location was reason for choosing property, near to family. Kitchen well equipped. TV fine, but mounted high on lounge wall. Pub a short distance away does a reasonable meal and not expensive. WiFi ok.

Heating was difficult to control with wide margin between thermostat cutting in/out. Bed was not comfortable and creaked. It was dusty beneath, with assorted debris- including the head of the radiator TRV ! I put it back- no charge. 2-seater sofa in lounge is overdue replacement, being well-worn and rather too low for comfort. Bedroom and bathroom very restricted in space.

Spacious, comfortable and bright property with both a bathroom and shower room. Great, quiet location about 10 minute drive from the centre, loved the private outside space which was nicer than the photos depict. Coffee, tea, milk and cookies available on arrival was a welcome touch.

A couple of minor cleanliness issues (however owners are next door and it's likely this would have been remedied had we contacted them on discovery.) The single room is very small and gets quite stuffy, leaving the window open causes the door to blow open which didn't suit our privacy conscious teenager so if you have a similar situation you might want to bring a fan.

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location. A real home from home. John kindly upgraded us to the bigger cottage (The Loft) at no extra cost. Fully equipped, including dishwasher and washing machine (not that we used them.) Lovely powerful shower Local bus service to Durham/Newcastle less than 5 minute walk away. Ideal for visiting Durham, Beamish Museum (a must!) and surrounding area. Addition of coat hooks in hall and a lamp in the lounge would be great. Local pub (over the road serves lovely meals) and the Chinese restaurant- Wok (10 minutes walk) is brilliant

It was a nice quiet village and a fifteen minute ride to the train station which was about £12 in a taxi so it was good. The host left us biscuits and we had Shampoo/conditioner and shower gel provided which was nice. The host came over when we had a problem with the heating. It was a nice little cottage big enough for two people and we had a nice time.

The only thing that I wasn’t happy with is that the couch was a lot smaller than what was advertised on the pictures of the website. I thought it was a long couch that I could sleep on but it was quite a small couch. So it’s not good if you are staying with a friend and are not sharing the bed but it is a lovely cottage to stay in with a partner.

Welcome pack was very thoughtful, and made our breakfasts & stay much simpler. Well equipped rooms, great bedding, lovely aspect and excellent location - perched in a hamlet high in the hills overlooking Durham Cathedral, close to a village pub serving good food, but a quick and easy drive in to town.

We encountered one little problem with the facilities, but this was quickly attended to by the owners who did their best to sort it out during our stay.

The cottage was so lovely and warm and very modern. It had everything u needed . The host was very attentive and left us milk and cookies for us when we. Arrived. Can't fault him or the cottage. Brilliant wee country pub across the road,food was to dye for was the best pub food I've had been told it's a new chef . Would love to go back to the cottage and the friendly staff at the pub . A very happy weekend we had . It was a early Xmas present for my girlfriend we enjoyed it very much .

Nothing at all

Clean compact little cottage with everything you need. Good communication with host before arrival. Parking for one car .Location was good if you had a car . Local pub not open yet so when it does open I think it will be a positive. That’s not anything to do with the cottage but there was nothing really close by.

The bed was a small double bed and very very uncomfortable with uncomfortable pillows . I had no sleep for two nights . One night I tried to sleep on the settee but it’s a very small 2 seater.

Great small cottage - ideal location to explore Durham . Also within 20 mile of some nice quiet beaches for walks . I can also suggest local picnic area, with old railway tracks lovely place to chill less than 5 minutes away . Host was helpful and recommended local venues to eat . Great pub over the road .

The only thing o didn’t like was the sofa it was very low and uncomfortable. Could do with replacing .

Even if the house is very small it was comfy and it was more then perfect for a couple. We had all the facilities in the kitchen, it is fully equipped and it helped us as we cooked a lot. The house was very clean and tidied.

The only bag thing is that we ran out of hot water. My partner took a shower and the water was hot for him, but once I entered into the shower the water started being cold and it remained cold about two hours. So if two people are staying here in order to get a 15 minutes shower you would have to allow about 2 hours for the water to be hot again. Also asked for a second blanket but the host didn't want to help us. Also if you are using the post code to arrive at the location it will send you to a wrong house and the cottage is a few minutes ahead in the other direction

Lovely cottage, very clean and with all the facilities you might need within easy striking distance of Durham. The host was lovely and turned on the heating prior to our arrival. Great views over the farm next door. We were there only one night but the property would be excellent for a longer stay. Beds were very comfortable.

The downstairs shower didn’t drain properly but I’m sure that would be only a temporary thing. Don’t let it put you off!
