Nice room, with a little fridge, kettle and an assortment of coffee and tea bags. The bed was very comfortable. It was well located.

The host could be friendlier, this was the only place in the four countries we visited where it was difficult for me to eat breakfast ( I can't eat gluten) and where it was hard to leave our bags a couple of hours before check in time. He finally allowed us to leave our bags at the entrance so we have to thank him for that.

Staff was really kind, and breakfast was delicious! A little earlier than expected (8-9.15) but very tasty and there was a range of options to choose from! We really liked our stay here! The beds were comfy and the bathroom was modern and fancy! I would definitely recommend a stay here! There’s also two bus stops very close to it, and it’s walking distance from princes street with lots of good bars, cafe’s, and small supermarkets close by!

It’s good to know this accomodation only has stairs, so we arrived and had to walk up two flights of stairs with heavy suitcases. For the first days i also had an issue with the shower as it produced both boiling hot and ice cold water at the same time, instead of one uniform temperature. We soon found out that it did work as long as you don’t touch anything and don’t turn it off and on again while showering.

We recently stayed at Cruachan Guest House for a few days during our trip to Edinburgh to explore the city, and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. The guest house was impeccably clean, and every morning we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with plenty of options, giving us the perfect start for our days of sightseeing. The location is ideal – just a short, 10-minute walk to the city center, making it easy to reach all the main attractions. The host was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and always ready to help with any questions or recommendations, which made us feel truly cared for. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and it was clear that the staff took great pride in making sure guests had a wonderful experience. We absolutely loved our stay at Cruachan Guest House and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Edinburgh. We can’t wait to come back!

We stayed for 2 nights. Our room was on the second floor. The bed was very comfortable, and the en-suite shower room was excellent. The fridge in the room was a nice addition. The breakfast was also good. The guest house is in a good location, close to the city centre and within an easy walking distance to the Old Town and Royal Mile - approx. 15–20-minute walk but there are bus links close by if you don't fancy a walk into the city centre. There are also many places to eat and drink close by too.

The tea and coffee in the room wasn’t great. Also, the stairs leading to the second floor were steep and narrow so when coming down the stairs you needed to be careful.

From the moment I arrived the host couldn’t have been more polite & helpful. I was the only one staying that wasn’t a Frenchman, who were over for the rugby match, & I was offered my breakfast in my room if I didn’t want to have to sit in the breakfast room. The breakfast was excellent, fruit juice, cereals, fruit, pancakes, cold meats & cheeses. There was also a fantastic cooked breakfast which, if you wanted it, included black pudding & haggis. Not forgetting tea/coffee & toast. City centre easily reached by bus or walking distance. If you want Indian food I can definitely recommend Guru at the top of the road.

The room was perfect for one person. I happened to stay on the main floor, for which I was grateful because I travelled like an amateur and carried a million pounds of luggage. The bathroom was inside the room, which was practical. For the price, it was a perfect choice.

Not the establishment's fault, but being on the main floor, I was privy to the conversation of every punctual German anxiously awaiting the start of breakfast at 7:58. Luckily, the proprietor is also punctual, so it was short-lived.

How lucky was I to stay here and receive a free upgrade! The room was nicely decorated, very spacious, comfortable bed, with sunshine streaming in the window & extremely quiet. Large, nicely renovated ensuite. Nice hot shower. The breakfast was delicious with a great choice of food and drinks. I could walk to all the major tourist attractions eg castle, palace, shops, pubs, restaurants and cafes, while my car was securely locked away. The owner is just lovely and extremely helpful.

Staff were welcoming. Bed and room were good considering the price and the fact that most of my visit is spent out and about rather than in my room. Location was great. Breakfast was nothing mind-blowing but again, given the price you're paying compared to a lot of other places it tasted good.

Mattress on the bed sank a little bit too much (could be a bit firmer). Room came with free coffee and tea and sugar inside - it would have been nice to have decaffeinated options also.

Upon our arrival, which was at about 9am, we were already given our room keys even though check in usually starts at 2pm. This guest house really exceded our expectations. We didn´t really have high standards when booking this but were really surprised by how spacious and pretty our cute little room was. The room was also way bigger than we expected it to be and it was really clean. The bed was also made every day and new toilet paper was provided. What really knocked us off our feet though was how friendly and welcoming the staff was. Our host was phenomenal and always in a good mood. The breakfast was also amazing! We didn´t just get a buffet but also got freshly cooked breakfast like eggs, beans, sausages and more. We were also able to store our luggage after checking out which is always great when you have a late flight back home. Thank you for the great service, we will be back!!!

Location was really good. I walked to the castle in 12 minutes and there were plenty of shops nearby. The bus service was fabulous and the number 10 picked up about 100 yards away and took us directly to the Royal Yacht Brittania. As my husband has a disability this was most welcome. The owner is a lovely kind and thoughtful person and makes sure your stay is special. Breakfast was as good as we expected from previous reviews, Haggis included!! Lovely and clean throughout, bed really comfy and cosy. Highly recommended.

Only thing I personally found was a bit of road noise but then I'm a light sleeper.
