Very convenient and central location in centre of Brodick, very close to ferry terminal. Great view of mountains Great for a budget last minute trip (like ours) Compact apartment with well equipped kitchen. Plenty heaters to keep you warm and cosy.

Need to bring own toiletries although we did have some washing up liquid and hand wash left by previous guests. Would be good to have some cleaning facilities inside/for the loo.

The location is stunning with beautiful views of Goatfell. We brought bikes on the ferry so it was handy being near to the ferry terminal. The apartment was well equipped enabling us to cook there sometimes and eat out at others. The host was helpful and friendly. The resident dog, Clyde, is lovely! Would definitely stay there again. It's really good value for money

Whoever was staying upstairs from us was a bit noisy well into the early hours of the morning. I didn't mention this to the host though. The doors within the apartment could do with some attention to make them shut more effectively. This is a minor detail though and certainly didn't spoil our stay

Great location and view, spacious, has all the basics that are needed. The staff are friendly and flexible with additional requests. Great value for what you pay. We were in the cottage. Full kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and fridge/freezer is great. We will definitely be booking again.

Bedrooms were slightly cold (we had a baby so were focused on this) with mini portable heaters. No heating in the bathroom. The lounge area is very warm. Curtains very thin letting light in easily in the morning - light sleepers would want a sleep mask. Overall the inside fittings and exterior of the building are a little old and tired - but if you know what to expect it’s not a big deal.

We didn't really know what to expect. I had looked for a couple of dog friendly rooms somewhere in Brodick and came across the Shorehouse. When I booked it did say I booked 2 apartments but I didn't expect to actually get proper apartments with kitchen etc. We had 2 apartments, both had everything you would expect to find in an apartment. Both were very clean, and the beds were comfortable . Jim and his dog were very welcoming, not just towards us but also our dogs. The house is right by the shore, a very short walk to a lovely beach, a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal, very close to shops, restaurants and bars, crazy golf, bike hire. We didn't use it, but there is also a seating area in the reception hall with games and books.

This place is by far the best value for money location on Arran. If you are looking for somewhere to stay that is budget friendly in the best possible location, provides basic amenities & a comfortable spacious room (we got an entire apartment not just a room) then this is the place for you. If you are looking for somewhere that provides premium standard in terms of facilities & utilities then you should go ahead and pay the triple price and book somewhere else. This place is definitely not that but it never claims to be so penalising the business while you pay 1/3 or 1/4 of the average accommodation price is unfair in my opinion (our rates were 1/4 compared to the average offered by all other rentals at the time of booking). If you are looking for more info: - It's situated right next to the ferry terminal (10 minute walk) & main bus terminal where you can travel anywhere on the island (3 buses every 2 hours, 324 to North, 323 to South, 322 through Middle, £1.80 single ticket). There is a big supermarket (Co-op) 2 buildings away from The Shorehouse and our room was equipped with a fridge, microwave, cooker with oven, plenty of pots and pans & cutlery to cook breakfast/dinner comfortably. - Our apartment included one room with 2 large beds, 1 open kitchen/living room with sofa, large tv, kitchen utilities + the bathroom. We were provided towels, washing liquid even coffee/tea (this is self-catering so did not expect anything more) but again, all very basic and that was fine for us - we did not look for anything more than that because our focus was exploring the beauty of Arran not sitting in our room but you choose what works for you.

A great location with welcoming staff and lovely hounds. It was a five minute walk from the ferry and all bus routes which was great as our car booking on Calmac hadn't worked! The kitchen was small but had a full cooker, fridge-freezer, kettle, microwave etc. There's a large Coop two minutes away so we didn't need to eat out every day. It was lovely having a sea view and watching the changing weather. The apartment had been painted this year and was looking good. We even had six beds for four of us, so we could spread out. If we ever come back to Arran I would happily stay at the Shorehouse again. Many thanks Jim.

The shower wasn't as powerful as it should be.

Our second time staying at The Shorehouse. We love it for its convenient location being in Brodick and how laid back the owners are. Keys are left out on the desk with your name and floor/room number, making it easy to quickly drop off bags in room and get back out to explore Arran. We love that it is more of an apartment than a hotel room, very convenient for making dinner after a day of walking/hiking. There is also a comfy sofa and TV, which come in handy for dark evenings in if you're staying in the darker months like we have done the past three years. Due to extreme weather our ferry was cancelled the day before we were supposed to leave and the owners were really helpful, informing us of what they knew and allowing us to continue to occupy the room past check-out on the day of while we waited to hear if we could get an evening ferry (we did end up leaving that evening luckily) and in case we needed to stay another night or more. Would highly recommend for couples and solo travellers.

One window grate in the bedroom would not shut and so we could hear the wind at night, but this was mostly only due to the weather being so crazy.

Plenty of parking space. Close to the beach. Close to ferry. The bedroom in the cottage closest to the living room was really comfy. Some cleaning products were left, which was very handy. Lots of space inside the cottage. That dogs are allowed. Budget friendly property, great value for money.

More of an improvement rather than a dislike, is the bedroom next to the bathroom, the mattress wasn’t as comfy as the one in the bedroom next to the living room. Also if we were staying longer a bath would have been amazing as we were travelling with young children.

Very clean room and bathroom. thank you, it makes a huge difference. Very functional room, ideal for 1 or 2 persons. Tidy, everywhere. Very comfortable bed. Kitchen roll and toilet roll were very good quality and most helpful to have. The DVD player I requested was placed in the lounge area and used and I was very grateful to use it due to wet, dark evenings and nothing to do outside etc. 2 pubs were closed on Monday night, which was unfortunate. TV channels were welcome too with a lot of different ones to choose from. thank you.

Hand-basin water dispersal in the bathroom needs fixing in Apartment 3.I left a note regarding this. A blockage somewhere caused by a previous occupant perhaps.

Good value apartment - bigger than expected. Very convenient location for buses, shops and ferry. Check-in and out straightforward and was shown around the apartment on arrival. I was at the back and top of the building but still had views along to the ferry port and distant mainland Ayrshire beyond, as well as to the hills above Glen Rosa.

For the price no complaints. Not the most up-to-date but everything worked fine.
