A classic, characterful backpacker's hostel. Loved the quirky decor and sense of atmosphere, and the beds, while rather firm, were surprisingly warm and comfortable for a place in this price bracket. Location is great, just round the corner from Edgware Road and only a couple of minutes from the tube station.

It didn't bother me personally, but the stairs up to the rooms are steep and kind of narrow so the Phoenix might not be an ideal choice if you have any mobility restrictions.

Some of the decor is dated, so don't expect the Hilton or a Ritz on a budget. If you want an affordable and welcoming venue, with it's own Bar. On the foot step of Central London with great Transport connections. Ta-Da. (Stone throw between Edgware Road, Marylebone and Baker Street, Even 18 Bus to Euston) On you're arrival you could be welcomed by friendly and helpful staff Norbet, Ryan or Ella. The place does have a 24 hour reception, with the access to the rooms being behind a secure door. Even the room doors have there own codes. The place is kept as clean as possible by the housekeeping. Continetial Breakfast in the bar for £3 or also a walk around the corner to Tescos.

The rooms could use more locker facilities. Lads that leave their socks on the floor, especially when you have a bottom bunk. Does need more sockets closer to the bunks.

Since the moment we arrived we felt very welcome. There is a friendly atmosphere, breakfast for only £3 and the fact there is always someone at the reception desk 24/7 where you can buy beverages make the stay easy and simple. The staff at The Phoenix Hostel is always willing to help, with positive attitude and smile on their face. During our stay we had the pleasure and luck to meet and have fun time with Susa "Hermosa", who gave us tips and information of where to go and save some money. Jordi very energetic guy, running around the place and making sure that the beds are ready and clean. Sam, we met him at the night shift, full of warm, kindness and lovely vibe. Sasha, very caring, open, helpful and full of life person. Ben, super fun and talkative character who will make your stay at The Phoenix Hostel unforgettable from the moment you step in. We enjoyed the experience of being in this place where you can feel like you're part of "Friends" tv show. Thank you all guys for putting so much effort to make this place a perfect stop for traveling backpackers. Love, kisses and hugs Jan&Aleja

Safety with rooms checking Lovely and welcoming host at the reception Clean Sleeping is good, very important quality of both of the bed and the pillow, clean sheets, Of course if you enjoy quite place then do not come because people are living too in the room and they make normal noice and it’s normal Very easy way to use the whole accommodation the simpler is ease, the best time is saved

Clean, of course a clean place is always based on how is it clean after the cleaning service and it is, please people do not get any negative thoughts on how people may describe this place because it is always due to who is using the place, the cleaning people and their actions has nothing to do with your bad comments. BE AWARE AND STAY conscious

Friendly and pleasant staff - I bought a new one at the front desk of the hotel because the British adapter I had prepared didn't work, and it was reasonable price In the lobby, there are enough things to enjoy, such as tables, books, and board games There was a ramp on the way from the train station to cross the road, so it was easy to pull the carrier

There's so much dust and trash in the room everywhere... Usually it needed to clean up in the afternoon, but I don't think they do it often Only the lobby is clean, not the room ※Be very careful not to get confused with the name of another place, Pheonix hotel! This is the hostel

There is a microwave in the hostel. This is always a big plus. The hostel staff are very friendly. @Ryan: Something I wanted to tell you… Here is the verdict: Grace and Truth are given by Jesus Christ, but men loved the desires of their eyes, the lusts of their flesh, and their own lives — and so preferred darkness to the Light. But for everyone who does acknowledge Jesus is Lord, we are given the right to be born new of righteousness. Jesus said, “Blessed are you who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for you will be filled.” And so he came saying to repent — which means to change your mind about the way you live — and believe. And for those who do believe we are given the hope of eternal life. But for all who did not repent, they will not enter God’s rest. Jesus said, “Those who hear these words of mine and live by them are like a wise man who built his house on the rock. When a deluge came against the house, it stood, because its foundation held it firm. But those who hear these words of mine and do not live by them are like a foolish man who built his house on sand. A deluge came against the house, but when it struck it, it collapsed — for it had no foundation.”

Room plenty of space and very clean with windows that open fully, which is important in a dorm. Very nice neighbourhood in Marylebone close by and Edgware Road good for restaurants and supermarkets. Close transport links to museums and theatres cinemas art galleries. To stay safe dont go in parks at night flash your mobile around or take out cash in Edgware Road there are safe cashpoints at the railway station in Marylebone.Ryan if very helpful on reception as is Norbet.Cleaning staff very professional and hard working.Breakfast extremely good value at £3 for cereal toast coffee and bananas.

Some guests need to check their manners but thats city life.

Basic breakfast is £3 coffee toast cereal. No frills. This is a boho type place very very close to oxford street hyde park and bayswater with great transport links by bus and underground.Galleries nearby also and plenty of cinemas within easy reach. If you take a picnic to Hyde Park you can also visit the Serpentine Gallery and then walk through the park and check out Kensington High Street and from there to Holland Park where there is a Japanese Garden with flamingos and a waterfall with Koi carp, ideal for selfies.Near there is the lovely French coffee shop Paul.Avoid Edgware Road late at night though and dont use the cashpoints outside the banks.

Rooms tend to get busy so don't turn up expecting to pay cash and get a bed.You have to book online.Even if you have fistfuls of cash..you have to book online and you MUST have proper ID.The location is very very central just behind Marble Arch and within easy reach of busy Edgware Road with its fresh fruit market and Marylebone the other side which has classy restaurants. One tip dont pull out you mobile or wallet in public or use bank cashpoints which are outside the banks. The local people are lovely but it is a very busy central London area so as with all busy cities act accordingly and use Marylebone side tube at night.Nice bar with good choice of drinks alcoholic and otherwise. No fridge. No cooking.Just microwave.

If they took the lockers out of the rooms I'd prefer it as some people come in late and bang the doors but thats a minor thing. And yes do not leave laptops and phones unattended thinking others will look after them for you, you're old enough to travel you're old enough to take care of your own belongings.Drunk and happy is not an excuse for leaving your stuff all around the place.

I had the best sleep in my whole life here!!, didn’t expect it. The mattress was so relaxing and peaceful I could sleep all day, no one bothering you , peaceful, felt safe, relaxed, calm and did my own thing, I didn’t expect to like it so much. Though I am use to big hotels and fancy ones. This was so much more peaceful and friendly. Down to earth people that run this. I liked this vibe, it was inside a pub, great location near the station. When I went inside there was a friendly man running the place, made it easy and gave me the right information, had a good chat, when I went to the room, it was quiet , you could hear the weather outside and a pretty view. Honestly I enjoyed my time here!! I’m so glad I stayed the night.

Not the place related but people that are also there .. Hmm I asked what the time was for my phone when it died so I put it on charge and asked the other ladies when they was awake and doing stuff but they ignored me and didn’t say anything.. I’m not sure if this was specifically because they didn’t want to speak to anyone and wanted complete silence. I did myself .. but it’s like I just needed to know the time because we had to leave at 10 so I didn’t want to oversleep
