Gorgeous setting in the picturesque village of Lower Slaughter. The dinner in the restaurant was really amazing and the staff attentive and helpful. I hadthe steak and my husband the lamb. Both were delicious. The menu was great for gluten free options and the petit fours truffles were really nice. We had a room with a very comfy bed and loved the roll top bath. I liked the toiletries they left for use and nice choice of drinks by the kettle.

We were on the ground floor and to stop people peering in had to keep the blinds shut the whole time. It wasn't very spacious for the cost and the wardrobe was right next to the bed and hard to get into. Not really much room. I was disappointed that the bar didn't have many good wines by the glass. And I wasn't going to pay £42 for a bottle of my favourite wine. Should have brought my own and kept it in the room fridge.

The two receptionist they where fantastic the two lads on there food wagon in the grounds very good

The rest of the staff did not want to be there the food in the Restaurant was the worst I have ever had no staff service in the restaurant .

Amazing Location, Bar Staff and Reception staff were very welcoming and attentive. Impressive building, each room was individually named with personal greeting notes. Plenty of car parking

Serving at breakfast was haphazard and not flowing and we had to chase for sauces, coffee etc. 3 of the 4 had a cooked breakfast and when they came no 3 dishes had the same core food. eg only 1 person had a hash brownie, missing from the others. When a fire alarm happened there was a lack of fire evacuation procedure/communication by the staff and we were left to find the fire exit and leave

Lower slaughters is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK.

For pre dinner drinks, there was a mass of mud and dirt under The table - Nothing had been cleaned since lunch. I had to clear the old drinks from the table - gave them to the bar and they didn’t even say thank you. I asked to have under the table cleaned for our special dinner - they just half did it, so I asked for the broom and dustpan and did it myself. They put a 10% “optional” tip on the bill without telling me - I checked and removed it. I would have paid a good tip - very sneaky and a disgrace to such a great place.

Beautiful Cotswold hotel in a quiet area free from the shopping tourists. Lower and upper slaughter are what Bourton-on-the-water use to be. It is quiet, pretty and has access to a number of country walks. Bourton is an easy walk away so you don't have to fight for parking spots. Breakfast is wonderful as is all aspects of the restaurant and the very friendly staff. They can't do enough for you. Our room was a good size. the bed was big and very comfortable. The room also had a very functional desk. The bathroom is a good size and water pressure is good. Heating is effective and easy to manage. The hotel is very quiet with beautiful grounds and surrounding areas.

The only thing that was a bit annoying was a weak and slow internet. This could be easily fixed but it is not essential for a get away weekend or week in the Cotswolds. This will be our Cotswolds go to place in the future.

Such a beautiful hotel, quirky but welcoming and cosy. Second time visiting and it doesn’t disappoint. From the moment I booked, the staff on reception were very helpful. Bed comfortable, spacious and cosy. Breakfast was great too! The staff working on the morning of the 3rd were exceptional, on point and smartly dressed. Excellent service well done! Really is a beautiful place in an idyllic setting…stunning.

The only downside was the girl Woking the bar on the night of the 2nd. My husband ordered a cheese board and had it set up by the fire. I followed down 5 mins later to find the bar maid chatting up the husband. I didn’t mind this but her attitude once she saw me and for the rest of the night was shocking. She was very rude! I went to the bar and ordered a drink…she didn’t say a word to me just smirked and slammed my drink down. No hello or thank u! For a 5* establishment it isn’t good enough, show a little respect to customers that’s all. Not sure if this is how she is all the time? Other than this a great couple of days away

Loved the location.

While the location and the property itself is beautiful, the hotel misses opportunities to pay attention to details that enhance the stay. For instance, for the last two years in a row that we have stayed here the staff in the bar insist, they are unable to make cocktails. Even relatively simple ones. I can’t imagine why the bar is unable to make simple cocktails. Also, the Inn has two beautiful fireplaces! Even on chilly mornings, they do not have the fireplaces burning, which is missing a great opportunity to enhance the stay.

We have been to Lower Slaughter before and came across this country inn and stopped for a drink. We knew the location was perfect as a base for a our next trip, all staff that we spoke to were very pleasant, especially those who seated us at breakfast- the breakfast was also great.

Our room was in a more modern part of the building, above what we think was a laundry/ staff room, we could hear people chatting to each other most of the time downstairs, and there was a fan or vent noise the whole time. (assumed it was from a tumble dryer or something if its a laundry room) plus a light on the fire detector was flashing the whole time and when the room was dark it lit up the room throughout the night. We did book the last available room at relatively short notice so poss this room is last to get used for the above reasons. it didnt bother us too much as we weren't in the room, but did make getting to sleep a little trickier

Our stay at Slaughters Country Inn was wonderful. We were very happy with the room, cleanliness and the bed. the staff were pleasant and friendly. Parking was very convenient and location was very favourable for us to visit other villages in Cotswold. the surroundings very scenic. Really enjoyed the food at the restaurant. The food truck with icecream and snacks we enjoyed very much!

the wifi was very slow or non existent during our stay. And toiletries could be replenished.

Family Room was fabulous for us with 2 dogs - very spacious and outdoor garden area, Lovely hot water and super comfy beds.

We found the common areas to be a bit sanitised and souless. When we went into the Bar/bistro, on a grim, rainy December day, the 'roaring fire' we had been expecting was not even lit. The area was quite cold and spartan as there were no rugs to soften the floor areas. It could have been a lot more comfy and luxurious. Similarly, we waited half an hour for the room to be ready - there was no room to sit anywhere in the bar/bistrot areas as it was busy. We had to just hover in Reception, which is not an ideal start to a get-away.
