Iv stayed here a few times now, as a solo traveler and with friends, would never stay anywhere else in Machynlleth, the rooms are clean and have everything I need, the staff are so accommodating and lovely. The locals are so friendly and the whole pub vibe is the best, I stay here to ride Dyfi bike park mostly, which is literally a stone’s throw away, The rooms are not modern, I’m not going to lie, but they are clean, comfortable and cheap as chips, and my honest opinion is, the whole experience is an absolute bargain, from the lovely staff, to the delicious food and the comfy beds, If your looking for a base to stay for your day adventures, may it be walking, riding or sight seeing, you won’t go wrong with this accommodation, it’s so much more than a room, it’s a social experience and I love it!

Nothing at all

The rooms had recently been refurbished so was very smart. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is very centrally located in town. Plenty of parking, great beer selection and large beer garden behind the hotel, lots of options for cooked breakfasts.

Why not replace the bedroom doors as part of the refurbishment - they look tired and cheap. The sheet was too small for the size/depth of the mattress and came off each night.

It would have been useful to meet the manager as we wanted to stay an extra night if rooms were available. No-one at the bar could help and so we had to re-book on-line from inside the hotel as the manager would not be there before we would have had to leave the next morning. We were there for three nights in the end and did not see the manager once. There was a slight mix-up over breakfast which was included in our booking but somehow this had not been passed on to the staff. Soon sorted out by the server so not a real problem.

The staff were absolutely lovely, especially as I had dietary requirements that they were willing and kind about catering for. The room was comfortable and clean and the whole place had a nice vibe. It was in a great location in the centre of town with lots of nice shops nearby although I ended up eating in the White Lion every day because the food and staff were so nice. Overall, a really enjoyable experience and a nice place to stay.

There was some noise from the bar at one point but it was at a reasonable time and understandable as it was the rugby World Cup! Not an issue for me, but if you had to go to bed early or had young children might have been slightly disruptive.

The room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was up to date in terms of the facilities. Interesting view from the window across the town to the surrounding hills, which were covered in snow when I visited. Breakfast was fine, and the dinner I had on my final night (lamb shank) was great.

We stayed here for one night on our way from North Yorkshire to South Wales and it was lovely. The room was recently refurbished and spotless. The staff were really lovely and made a big fuss of our rescue dog (he even had his own breakfast!). The food (dinner and breakfast) was excellent. We will definitely be booking again next year. Thank you!

It was a lively busy traditional Pub/Inn undergoing a lot of refurbishment . Newly refurbished Bathroom attached to my room ( No 6 )

My room ( No 6 ) formed part of the second floor Fire Escape and so had a minimal lock on it and an expectation to keep the floor space clear. The Fire Escape Stairs were by the window. Cramped room with no storage space for bags ( See above ).

Instantly could see how clean the hotel was when walking to our room. We stayed as a group of three so the family room was perfect. Spacious and everything seemed brand new. It was perfect location for a nearby restaurant we’ve wanted to go to for ages. Gwen restaurant. A short walk around the corner. Check in and check out was super easy too

the trucks that came in early in the morning for whatever business they had to tend to. 7 in the morning to wake up hotel guests is a great way to make sure there are no late check outs! please consider.

The location in the centre of town is great as is the large car park. All of the staff we met were excellent, friendly and helpful. The food, both breakfast and evenings were very good with good sized portions and well presented. The bedroom was large and airy and the beds comfortable.

The en-suite bathroom could do with a refresh as it is a little tired but the walk in shower was very good. A mix up on arrival, our room had not been made up, was swiftly corrected by the staff and a new room allocated. A good recovery and a free pint lol.
