We were very impressed with the Bell Inn and the newly redecorated rooms were done beautifully. We loved the furnishing fabrics! The individual seating areas with a fire were cosy, intimate and we spent quite a lot of time using them. Despite how busy it was, the staff were always friendly and helpful and we had a lovely relaxing weekend, thank you. We will definitely recommend the Bell Inn to our friends.

The only confusion when we arrived at The Bell arose because the Reception is not where it is indicated to be (ie. it is written engraved in the glass above the archway) but in the building opposite! Paper temporary instructions were seldom seen so we met several guests with heavy cases looking lost!

The staff were attentive and cheerful and engaging. When we reported a problem it was dealt with quickly and amicably. We had dinner on both nights of our stay and we enjoyed the food, as well as the wine. The bed was very comfortable, my wife and I have different expectations of bed but we both thought the bed was comfortable and we enjoyed a good nights rest.

On arrival in the room we found a mug that had not been cleaned. A simple mistake but one that put us on our guard. On notifying Reception the matter was dealt with quickly and amicably. This is important as we all recognise things can go wrong, but it is how they are dealt with that matters. Also, there were no coffee 'straws', only the Nespresso pods. These are not to our taste but Reception provided us us coffee from their staff jar...thank you and well done! Although the quality of the food was very good, I would make the point that 1 small slice of pork pie was rather mean for my main meal. However, my wife's Caesar Salad was very good, I understand.

The accomodation and breakfast were excellent and good value, and the staff were outstanding, I would particularly like to mention Jackie, Kayden, Keiran and Mark. I liked the separate coffee shop in the Bistro and little touches like the availability of decaffeinated teabags and fresh milk were most welcome.

However, I felt the evening meals were overpriced. £38 for a steak, £24 for a small piece of trout and veg. were too expensive and not anything special. This made life difficult because there is very little alternative hospitality nearby.On our 3rd evening we waited an unacceptable amount of time for our food. I suspect they were understaffed.

Beautiful four poster bedroom with lovely lighting, cosy decor . The radio was on when we arrived which was so relaxing and great tea and coffee facilities. We stayed with our dog who loved it and was a queen for a night. The staff are lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. Best breakfast I’ve had . We will definitely be staying again in the new year. Perfect location for a stopover driving North to South. We also stocked up on a Stilton selection for Christmas. Such a great stay thank you all.

The lighting in the bathroom was too bright so a softer light in there would be good. No complaints at all very happy.

The booking policy is a bit rigorous - I’d booked a no refund room and wanted to change dates due to a family crisis but couldn’t. Also I was informed just prior to arrival there would be a wedding and possibly music until midnight; as it transpired it was a very very quiet wedding so no problem for us. Perhaps if you book one of these rooms you should be told there & then with the option to choose another date.

Lovely old fashioned coaching house with original beams and character. More modern in the bistro. Lovely and relaxing stay. Excellent food. Staff were all great, pleasant and hard working. Housekeeping were very good and the lady that had cleaned our room left us a lovely welcoming message on the bedside table and was very friendly and helpful the next day when we saw her. It gets very busy in the bistro at lunch and on an evening at weekends.

Low beams - husband kept banging his head. Being our wedding anniversary we had booked a more special and larger room which was right at the top of the property. Lovely spacious room with a sofa and chairs. Car park is not very big so parking a bit of a problem and would be especially bad if a wedding in on.

Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming - also all very helpful. Room wad mainly lovely with various bits and pieces provided. It was good to have access to fresh milk, but a fridge in the room to keep it cool would have been nice. Food was excellent

Some concerns re housekeeping - there was a used towel hung over the shower rail, which had been overlooked; the carpets could do with a steam clean; there was some damage to the paint-work. Booked table for Sunday lunch in both initial booking and further messages on this app - was told that was fine, but nothing was done about it until the day before I arrived; however the lady who dealt with it was fantastic!

The Bell is a great place to meet friends for dinner, as we did. It offers a good menu of traditional English dishes, very well prepared, in a charming old coach stop building with much character. The staff is very helpful and unfailingly polite, and the breakfast offered variations on eggs benedict as well as a traditional "full English" breakfast. We have stayed here before to meet friends in the area, and it is our "go to" place.

The rooms are a little small, as it is a very old building. It is a place where charm outweighs spaciousness.

We had a superior room which was in the old part of the hotel with lovely old original features. Fantastic large room with a comfortable bed. Towelling robes, bottled water ready for you by your bed, great biscuits with your tea and coffee, lots of attention paid to make for a great experience. Breakfast was made to order and delicious served in the beautiful dining room. I had the vegetarian breakfast - vegan sausage and black pudding, lovely poached eggs, tomato, beans, mushroom, hash brown and spinach which was much better than the usual vegetarian options. Dinner was fantastic with delicious food. My partner even got his main course and pudding free because it was his birthday. Of course there was lots of stilton on offer which made it even better.

Nothing. There is not much to see in Stilton village but the hotel and restaurant are wonderful.

The breakfast was lovely, freshly made to order. The room had all we needed. Nespresso was a great sign of a quality hotel. Great ambience when walking into the room, fresh towels folded nicely next to Shampoo,conditioner and shower gel. We enjoyed our stay in this quaint village.

I wasn’t happy with the small pet fee, turned out to be £15 per night. This wasn’t explained until after non refundable payment! I did think £30 for my small dog was quite steep. We had spent a couple of nights away 2 weeks previous hotel near London and paid £10 pet fee for 2 nights.
