The property is beautiful inside and out. I love how the old building has been incorporated in to a modern hotel. My room was spacious, comfortable and well appointed with everything I needed. The pub/bar/restaurant is cozy, with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. (I’d strongly recommend softer lighting in the dining room, it would pull a vast space together help the cozy feel, flow through from from the bar when it’s time to move for dinner).
The gym area is tiny, exposed for all to see and not appealing. The pillars around the pool were all rusty at the base which really lets down the otherwise beautiful pool area and is relatively quick, cheap and easy to remedy. The changing rooms need much stronger ventilation, to prevent the black mould around the lockers and the strong, unpleasant smell of damp. These items are important to me as a guest and desperately need to be looked at as a matter if urgency.

We had a lovely located room and the bed was very comfortable had 2 nights good sleep, all of the compliments of tea, coffee, cookies and toiletries. Staff all helpful and assisted when asked, the spa facilities and pool were just what was needed to help unwind. We had the breakfast buffet and the selection was excellent, I also asked for porridge which was not on menu but were happy to gladly cook and serve. The location of the Hotel is a little gem in The Village and there is a truely wonderful Redwood tree walk to stroll through whilst there. Finally if you wish to eat out and appreciate good cooking then don't hesitate a visit to the Gurkha Lounge, we found and experienced their amazing authentic Nepalese dishes.
Minor issues, Cosmetics really, parts of decor and repairs, fitting for shower head. Probably not easy running hotels in current economic climate but with everything on offer at Orton Hall a quality pro active Hotel / catering manager would really add something extra positive for owners and guests.

I have stayed in different rooms and always had a good night's sleep. The breakfast, both staff and food, are excellent. The same can be said for the Ramblewood Inn. The leisure facilities meet my needs and I like the fact that the sauna reaches a proper temperature and that guests don't seem to throw too much water on the stones so the humidity is low.
Sorry to say this but the Reception and Spa staff could learn a lot from the Ramblewood Inn and Breakfast staff. The latter are definitely more happy and make you feel welcome. Secondly, it would be nice if the floor in the Spa changing rooms (or at least the men's) could be wiped down more regularly using a floor shower squeegee or similar.

Very relaxing stay. Lovely staff, good swimming pool, lovely food, excellent service in the Ramblewood bar from Andy H and the team.
Would really rather not have had breakfast in lounge on low down settee. We couldn’t go in the restaurant because we had a dog with us. It would have been simple to let us eat in a separate space to others and let us sit at a table!

The house is an old manor house with rambling corridors and old rooms. Its been tastefully restored and turned into a rather nice hotel. Breakfast is buffet style and lovely. The staff were pleasant to deal with, we had no issues. The spa, pool, sauna and hot tub are great. Not gold star, but for the money they all worked and were clean and accessible. Beds were really comfortable and the rooms large, with free toiletries, kettle, hair drier and bath/ shower. Wifi was free and the TV had freeview.
Didn't like the Ramblewood pub next door. The staff were nice but it was a little soulless and the beer wasn't up to much. The food was expensive for what you got, but nice. We didn't hang around long.

Spa facilities - everything was working and in good order. We enjoyed spending time in the spa. It gets quieter after 5pm. Hotel staff - everyone was helpful (especially the maintenance guy). It makes a big difference when the staff are friendly and helpful. Even some more expensive hotels don't have to staff like this. Breakfast - everything was well prepared and stocked up without needing to be prompted. The team was very efficient and cleared tables quickly so that other guests didn't have to wait long for a table. Location - 10 minutes away from the town centre.
Spa changing room - got very dirty as people came in with muddy shoes. Probably could do with an hourly clean. Spa treatment booking - I wanted to book a massage for my wife and and there was only one 30-minute slot available for the duration of our 2 day stay! Book early to avoid disappointment. Some rooms need updating - the hotel is being renovated so some rooms are a bit tired. Our initial room's ensuite smelt mouldy, and the extractor was very noisy. The maintenance guy turned up and did his best, but it couldn't be fixed. We were moved to another room without any issue. The second room was wonderful and what we expected.

I had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful English hotel while attending my friend’s wedding, and it was a truly lovely experience. The hotel’s style and charm perfectly complemented the occasion, and the wedding venue was stunningly prepared, with exquisite floral decorations creating a magical atmosphere. My room was comfortable, clean, and provided everything I needed for a relaxing stay. Breakfast was enjoyable, although I would have appreciated a wider selection of cheeses, hams, fresh vegetables, and fruits. Overall, this hotel provided a delightful and memorable experience, and it was the perfect setting for such a special celebration. I would definitely recommend it for weddings or a charming getaway!
I would have appreciated a wider selection of cheeses, hams, fresh vegetables, and fruits at breakfast.

There was much to enjoy throughout the whole Orton Hall experience. There was a sense of calm and efficiency. We were warmly welcomed and the warmth continued throughout. The room was beautiful. So clean and a good size. The service at dinner and breakfast the following days was super excellent. Chatty but not overly so. The food each time was magnificent. Ended up very satisfied. A shout out to the dark haired male waiter who was super attentive, friendly and in answer to his question the answer is: Jean Paul Gautier, Le Male Elixir. A special shout out to a not tall Asian lady who is an exceptional worker. She helped us in Reception, waited at dinner and breakfast. She was everywhere. Been working there 2 years. Personable, great smile really helpful. Great adverts of Orton Hall. From many staff members I liked the nods and smiles of acknowledgement in passing and the cheerful manner they assisted to our needs. We had treatments. I was given a deep tissue massage by the excellent Antonia. I asked for firm and she certainly delivered. Loved her Scouse accent and outgoing nature. I have never felt better. I wish i could have her on retainer. A beautiful, calm relaxing stay. Loved the beauty of the grounds and the general ambience. The cost was not extortionate, especially for the excellence displayed.
No lift. However, good exercise. Would like a fridge in the room. Perhaps a minibar.

We loved a lot of you things espetialy about the afternoon tea which my husband wanted to have but we did not know about even though i called several times before booking things. I guess it is expected if us to do our own reserch on your website if we want something. Over all was great and we will be back.
The only surprise we had that we didn t know when we orderd a cheese board there was service charge kn it that it came from the bar where we gad dinner if we would have known we would have gone for a walk and go back to have a cheese board in the bar. But its fine we payed it no problem. And also last year it was a lot diffrent for exappmle there was no lunch or afternoon tea option in the lobby or the hotel restaurant like this time and there was no information about it what so ever. Reception looks the same stayung in their own world not giveing much information or any wibe of help out that did not change.

We had a lovely stay with a large group of friends. The grounds were lovely and the hotel was nice. It was a little bit shabby around the edges, but we weren't expecting perfection and it still ticked all our boxes and provided a great place for our weekend reunion. We ate at the restaurant and in the on-site pub which were both good. As we were a large group we had to pre-order for both but the staff had this all organised and the process was very smooth. The waiting staff in particular at the pub were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. Our room was quiet and comfortable.
The shower kept changing temperature unexpectedly.
