Very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. Only downside is that they now charge extra for parking which was always free before

Staff were very helpful throughout our stay from the moment we walked through the door, helping with bags etc. The breakfast was perfect and both me and my partner really enjoyed the Full English. Finally, the location is brilliant, just a stone's throw from Hoe Park, Barbican and the city centre, no more than a 5-10 minute walk from most of the local amenities.

On our last day, we had a problem getting hot water from the taps. Also, it would be nice for breakfast to be served later the 8:45am

Rachel and Faye in reception bring the Imperial to life. Their warm smiles and friendliness make this a homely and lovely B and B. Rachel is an excellent front office manager and ensures the establishment is run really well. The property is in an excellent location for shopping, walks on the Hoe and the many attractions of the Barbican. Beds were so comfy and towels were plush and cosy. Buffet breakfast was very good quality. Rooms were clean and really comfortable. It has a home from home feel.

Shame a couple of the reception staff lacked the friendly and professional interpersonal skills of Rachel and Faye.

I travelled to Plymouth with my sister to visit family. The Imperial is in a perfect location, near the Hoe and city centre. All the staff are efficient and friendly, Rachel who runs the B&B is professional, friendly and does her best to accommodate any stay requests. The room we stayed in was large and clean, the bathroom enormous, clean the and shower easily adjustable from mild to raging torrent (certainly enough to wake you up). Breakfast was a buffet with offerings of toast, fruits, yoghurts, cereals and full English. We did miss out on the croissants and pains au chocolat some mornings. Tea and fresh percolated coffee was available which I had quite a lot of. We are planning our next stay there for 2025. We have never returned to a hotel or B & B for a second time but this is the one for us. Thanks to the staff who dealt with checking in for being so patient when our coach arrival time got later and later (9 hours travel time!) Way beyond reception closing time.

Our room had dried out water stains on one wall and a bit of the ceiling, possibly from a leak upstairs. It could do with painting over. There are lots of parking spaces to the front and rear of the building but they are in a grid pattern. As we are driving to Plymouth next time, we expect to play a bit of parking Jenga. Apart from this we had the best stay ever.

Lovely hotel in a great location, so close to the Hoe & Barbican, less than 5 minute walk to either. The staff are excellent, very friendly & go above and beyond. The rooms are spacious, light and very comfortable, really clean too. Breakfast is fantastic with lots of choice. We have stayed before and will definitely stay again next time I'm visiting family.

When we turned up we were sked to pay to park in the hotel car park, which we have never had to before when we stayed. I Think this was £12 a day. It was never in the description or emails that we received that we would have to pay extra. The hotel staff then arranged with the management that we didn't have to pay as we weren't made aware beforehand, which could be seen as a positive. I think it would be better to give the option of parking during the booking process, so that all charges are up front and known about. Other than that minor thing (I'm being picky, really), nothing at all to moan about.

Super clean, lovely big room, shower was high pressure (possibly the best hotel shower I’ve had?) staff were super helpful and friendly and breakfast was pretty good. Value for money with the location was great too.

The door to the balcony bit was locked, and the room was a little tired but for the money not complaining at all! Everything was spotless so it really didn’t matter. There was a bit of a pickle about paying cash as didn’t have any change at reception but luckily we had pretty much the exact amount, not really a problem but maybe should be a little clearer that they’re really card only as we would have made sure to have had the funds on card rather than cash if we’d known, staff were really helpful about it and accommodating though, absolutely no fault of their own!

The managers are all very nice and friendly. Rachel, the manager when we arrived was super nice. When we did not have good internet connection in the first room we were given, she moved us to a very nice room in the main building with better internet service. The room and other facilities are old as the building itself is quite old but it is well maintained. The old building gives it character! The breakfast was superb English breakfast with a variety of hot items, cereals fruits, baked goods, etc. since I was gluten intolerant and vegan, they were very accommodating with soy milk, gf toast and other things. They made me fresh porridge with warm fruit compote when I requested it and it was good! I heard they even make pancakes to order although we did not have it. We saw shelves with books and games for people to use. Overall we had a wonderful experience. The entire staff were friendly and helpful.

This is an old hotel, as you might expect in that part of Plymouth. It is adjacent to the Hoe and an easy walk through to the Cattewater (Mayflower Steps, pubs, restaurants & cafes, etc.) and downtown Plymouth. The hotel is a bit 'tired' due to its age but the bed was comfortable, our room a good size and the en-suite serviceable, although the door didn't close properly. That didn't bother us. The breakfast was good and sociable. Not the greatest hotel but good and good value. If we return to Plymouth would definitely include this hotel in our reckoning. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Not much.

The room was a good size, and all very comfortable. The staff were excellent - Rachel and Di, in particular, really went above and beyond. It was a mini-heatwave when I was visiting, and the hotel was warm, and they organised a larger fan for me (I felt a little bad when I found out later it was the fan the staff often use in the kitchen…and that shows how important it is that guests are happy). I also had a lot of work to do, and my bedroom was a bit warm to work in (the weather’s fault, not the hotel’s) and the staff made me feel really comfortable using the breakfast room all evening. I would definitely stay again! The breakfast was a good solid offering, and there were nice touches like a machine dispensing cold drinking water downstairs.

Be aware of the stairs. As is often the case in hotels like this, there is no lift, and, if you’re on the top (second floor) and with heavy bags, it’s a bit of a trek.

Friendly staff in every area made me feel my satisfaction was there first aim. Lovely homely feel in my room, which was more a whole apartment than a box that people fit the essentials into elsewhere. Breakfast as buffet set up was still superb with everything cooked perfectly, and a very comprehensive selection of food and drinks. More special teas than you could imagine. Nothing to fault, and will be my first call if I need to return to Plymouth

One very rude customer who was determined to bully the receptionist to near tears for his own ego!!!
