It was central to the village. Nice cosy coal fire.Fantastic views of the harbour. We were in the attic room. Lovely porridge.

The bedrooms we’re needing to be cleaned better. Around the skirting boards aren’t cleaned. Showers have black around the base of the door. A tooth brush and bleach would clean it. Bacon was a bit over done.

Great hotel in a beautiful location. This is the second time we have stayed here and it doesn’t disappoint. We travelled with our wee dog and had a dog-friendly apartment which was warm and well equipped with access to the garden. The food is amazing, a large menu with huge portions. The whole experience is great but the best thing about this hotel is the fantastic staff, they are definitely the hotel’s greatest asset, nothing is too much trouble for them. They are a young staff group who are so friendly, chatty and great at what they do. Spend time in this hotel, you will be amazed at the quality of the food, the environment and value for money.

Fabulous location on harbour front. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had one of the Anglesea Apartments next to the hotel. Although there were a couple of minor issues, they were dealt with straight away.

The windows on the conservatory where we had our meals and which overlook the harbour were filthy the whole time we were there. This was a shame, as the view is a selling point of the hotel. Most of the breakfasts we had were not as good as we would normally expect and served on cold plates. There was one day when breakfast was much better and I asked was there a different chef in and was told, yes. So you're OK if Andrew's in that morning! The other guests agreed that it was much better that day.

Although a dog friendly property, they were kept out of the restaurant area. All of the young team of staff were helpful and efficient, particularly the housekeeper. Although housekeeping wasn’t provided on a day to day basis - which we prefer - nothing was too much trouble for her. The breakfasts were filling and the evening meals beautifully presented together with a good wine selection, and the restaurant and outside verandah were picturesque overlooking the harbour.

Dogs everywhere. Personally not a fan of dogs in the bedrooms. Didn’t frequent the bar as there were always numerous dogs around.

I'm a Ex Soldier Bagpipes. I haven't played since 2019. My comrade Piper passed away last year I wanted to play a my final lament, on the Portpatrick harbour. Our bedroom was opposite the Scotland saltire a stunning view. After i played i went into the bar and played auld lang syne for the staff. My Bagpipes are now retired.

It was stormy the telly didn't function for most of my stay. I would only watch the news. I concluded it wasn't the telly but the weather. I forgot to mention to the excellent staff. Last day weather calm telly working.

The hotel is ideally situated in the small harbour ( hence the name), with adequate seating in the bar / dining areas and lovely indoor / outdoor terraces to eat and have a drink. There was ample choice at breakfast and throughout our 4 night stay the hotel staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. We were travelling with our medium size dog who was made very welcome, the hotel describes itself as being ‘ dog friendly’ and indeed it was. Although there isn’t a car park at the hotel there is ample ‘free’ parking all along the harbour and you are able to load and unload outside the main entrance.

The only fault I could find was the lack of a regular housekeeping schedule for the bedroom as we were staying for four nights, although the housekeepers were helpful doing and getting things when asked.

Booked a great half board deal and was so happy with what was provided. Presume we were upgraded as the room was huge and looked out onto the seafront. Shower was excellent , bed enormous and very comfortable. Food was excellent apart from a little soggy batter on the fish. Good poached eggs for breakfast and staff very pleasant and attentive.

Just a couple of things we thought should work and didn't ! Heated towel rail wasn't heated even though plumbed in and presumably the wall fire should have lit up for ambience. Neither of these were a problem for us, just mentioned in case the hotel wants to fix them.

I had asked for a room that had easy access to outdoors because my friend was taking her dog and I was taking an elderly dog. We were very pleasantly surprised that we got a 2 bed apartment rather than a cramped room. Plenty space and comfort for two adults and two dogs. The room was clean and tidy. Good location opposite the harbour with views of the sea. Access to a lovely enclosed well looked after garden making it idea for the dogs to roam safely. If the weather had been better we would have definitely sat out at the tables with our drinks. The hotel was very dog friendly and the staff went over and above to make not only us, but our doggies feel very welcome. We had booked dinner B&B. Dinner was absolutely amazing. Tasty , well presented and better than some top restaurants I’ve been to. Our stay was Friday- Sunday. 4 Oct so not high season. None the less, Saturday the hotel had put on a live event. A few cocktails later and we were up dancing and singing along with the entertainers. Our Dogs looked on in bemusement! Fabulous night. Thank you for a wonderful weekend. The staff were amazing and made our stay extra special. Ps my friend had a bereavement a week prior to going and I called the hotel to ask if we could move the dates. I didn’t expect I could and anticipated losing the money I’d paid booking.com for this birthday gift to my friend. Maggie was very sympathetic and gave me the opportunity to move the date without any penalty. Turns out we didn’t need to change dates as my friend wanted to keep to the original to take her mind off it.

Clean tidy spacious apartment- just small areas needed updated.

Good breakfast, excellent location, lovely, friendly and helpful staff. The dinner was excellent too, plenty of choice and freshly made. It is great value for money.

There was a mix up with the booking. The room we were told we could have when we booked had been allocated to another guest. We wanted it because it was on a lower floor and we had difficulty with too many stairs. However the receptionist on duty was very helpful and managed to sort something out for us. Would go back, food was great and staff very helpful and pleasant. The wee mix up would not put us off.

Fantastic location, incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable. Value for money. The food was great and they accommodated the need for gluten free options. Would definitely stay here again. (& would recommend eating here especially with the offers they have)

No car park but lots of parking nearby. Would have been nice to have coasters in the room (but with the bar downstairs it’s easily remedied). The heater in the room didn’t work but there was an alternative that was absolutely fine so these are little easily solved little niggles.
