Thought this might be busy & impersonal compared with a guest house, but it was very relaxed & the staff were lovely & chatty. One minor issue we had with the room was quickly & courteously resolved. Great to have full menus in our room so that we could choose meals in advance without feeling rushed. Food was good/varied & room was spacious, with an extra large bed & uncramped bathroom. Lovely view of the bay from dining room & plenty of parking space.

Aspects of the room weren't 100% - mattress a bit saggy, plugs (electric & basin) needed updating. Our room stayed very warm even after turning radiator off, which might have been a problem in summer. But nothing that would put us off staying here again.

Room was comfortable, had everything you would need, T&C, biscuits, hair dryer, comfy bed and pillows, spare blankets etc. TV has limited channels, no sky or cable, but didn't impact our 1 night stay. Menu in Bar / Restaurant was very good, more for my wife who can be fussy, and excellent value for money and food quality again excellent. Nice fresh cooked breakfast in the morning with some continental options. We were planning to venture out and see Stranraer but weather didn't allow. Every member of the team we spoke with was really friendly and helpful, couldn't fault them at all. Would definitely stay again but book a front facing room with great views over the bay.

Some noise from kitchen was a bit frustrating. I think we were directly above it facing out to the back of the hotel.

Stayed in large detached accommodation called Windy Ridge close to the hotel. Large room with good quality bed and pillows, spacious bathroom/wet room, daily room service with biscuit packets and tea/coffee replenished, quiet throughout my 6 day stay. Breakfast in the main hotel was consistently excellent, porridge among the best I have tasted, range of cooked breakfast options with friendly waitress service in a very relaxing environment with sea view.

All good, only the slight inconvenience of using a cup to fill the kettle with water from the bathroom tap as it didn’t fit underneath, but preferred large to small kettle.

The room was very comfortable and spacious, We had two evening meals in the restaurant, both of which were excellent quality, tasty & reasonably priced. The breakfasts were great - locally sourced sausage, black pudding and beautiful eggs, cooked to perfection. Our waitress was more than happy to top up tea and toast and get us extra supplies of butter, marmalade etc as required. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

Everything was perfect. My Mother has mobility issues so we requested a downstairs bedroom which we were allocated. I was afraid it might be noisy but it wasnt at all. The hotel also provided my mother with a mobility stool for the shower which was great.

I thought the food excellent and the staff friendly and helpful. The hotel has a lovely location overlooking the bay and a really bright and cheerful dining area. I was cycling and the hotel offered up covered space at the rear so that the bike could be accommodated overnight.

I was in a room located above the kitchen or similar area so it was a bit too hot. It was a nice size room with en-suite and did have an openable window that compensated for the slight over heating.

A lovely location on the beach front. Easy to manage stairs to our room which had a view of the beach. The small room was comfortable enough with an open wardrobe and small desk. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean and quiet. It was very helpful to have the information booklet explaining hotel facilities. The wifi in the room was excellent. The full English Breakfast was excellent.

The bathroom could be improved with a couple of towel rails or hooks. The breakfast options could include yogurt or muesli .

I enjoyed a pot of coffee with my cooked breakfast, opting for sausage, bacon, fried egg, beans and mushrooms, rather than the full Scottish. Very nice it was too. I chose a single room, so it was quite small, as expected. Very clean though, with plenty coffee, sugar, milk and shortbread to enjoy while watching the decent sized tv. I had dinner en route to the hotel, so didn't sample their evening meal offerings.

I can't think of anything I didn't like.

The room was excellent with a good view of the Loch and distance ferry port The breakfast was excellent and cooked to my liking No dogs were allowed witch was a good policy I also found it was quite at night

The car parking was a bit tight

everything great although I would of liked a bath and the booking details said free chocolates which I didn't get As a very fussy eater I did not like anything on the menu therefore your chef and waitress went out their way to make me something I would eat

more choice for the continental breakfast such as more fruit and yoghurt

The bedroom and bathroom were of a very high standard. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Attend a funeral and they let us stay in our room till we left the wake

Only downside was when you walked into the lobby area looked a bit like my grannies from the sixties. But the bedroom changed it.
