Really good location for me as it was close to family. The staff were amazing! I was travelling on my own and said I’d maybe pop down for a drink later and they said they would be happy to introduce me to the locals if I wanted. Very friendly staff and happy to help if I ever needed anything. Having the pub so close by was great as you could just pop over and get a drink and take it back to your room if you liked. I was craving a proper coffee and it was amazing from the pub and I could take it back to my room. The room was clean and easy to control the temperature via the radiator. The shower pressure was incredible and something I wasn’t expecting at all.
Some of the staff in the late evening weren’t as friendly as the daytime staff but I think they were perhaps just busy. No shower gel in the bathroom but a handy little dove soap dispenser by the sink. A little bit loud when the pub shut but that was expected. Also the car park got quite full up with there being live music on.

Property was great and so were staff. Room was beautiful and modern
I was in room 2 which was downstairs in an annexe. Unfortunately, it was within 2 metres of tables in the beer garden and people were out there until almost 1am, which kept me asleep. They then went indoors to room 3 and were playing music. It eventually went quiet at around 1.40, when two of them continued their converation right outside my room. I tried, in vain, to contact the desk in the hotel, but I don't think there was one. I tried a general number I found on the web, but no joy there either. I had a 200 mile drive that morning and was not amused.

We have stayed at the Red Lion a couple of times in the past and whilst it’s always been OK, the rooms really needed a good refresh. This time - Wow!! The room has been totally refurbished, fully decorated and all the furniture replaced. New lighting fitted and a full bathroom refurbishment as well. It looked really good and the colour scheme made the room look much bigger. Staff are always very friendly and the breakfast was excellent.
We got back to the RL at about 10.15 on Sunday evening after a function and were hoping for a couple of beers but sadly, the pub was closed. The only other minor gripe is the bedroom window which is “questionable” but maybe they are difficult to replace with the building being very old (possibly listed?).

Great value pub/motel very handy for M6 travellers. The rooms are basic and quite compact, and are very clean and have everything you need - desk, tea/coffee/kettle, large TV, bathroom. Beds clean and comfy. Attached to pub which does good typical pub menu and a great selection of draft ales and lager. Crowd were clearly local and very friendly.
Only stayed one night, and nothing really negative to say. The view was directly out onto the car park which wasn't a problem as I couldn't see it anyway when I had the curtains closed and was asleep. Walls aren't too think and another guest was a bit noisey but all quiet when I went to sleep.

Very quiet despite being above the beer garden ( but it was a cold winter night!). A lovely country village. I could hear bird song into the early hours of the morning. I had trouble sleeping ( see below) The room was clean and spacious. The shower was amazing- very powerful. Good supply of tea and coffee. Lovely room. The staff seemed friendly and cheerful but did not have much interaction as it was literally a place to sleep for the night.
As a solo female traveler, my room was outside up a metal staircase with other rooms along the outside walkway. Once inside the room there was no spy hole in the door or even a small window, on that side of the wall. I felt a bit vulnerable, as if someone knocked on my door, there was no way of seeing who it was before opening it. The outside beer garden had no gate or security so anyone could have access. Also the outside door lock was very flimsy like an internal bathroom door . There was no emergency /security phone number on show. I think next time I will stick with premier inn.

Staff were friendly, arrived about 15 mins before the kitchen closed, the staff let us know, so we had a nice soup and warm baguette. The locals were friendly and the rooms were small but adequate, clean and presented well. Would stay again. Was quiet and we slept really well, bed was super comfy. Shower was good. We had to depart early for work so we didn't get to sample breakfast.
Would have been lovely if breakfast was available a little earlier for those staying for business.

We have been visiting the Red Lion for 20 years. We have family nearby and it's great for our gatherings. The room revamps are a great addition and make a big difference to how the room feels. A much more contemporary feel. The staff are friendly and helpful. ( even when training new staff at the same time as checking in a large contingent of our family) Great breakfast with an amazing time window, allowing slow starts if needed. Our go to stay in the area.
All good , thanks

Comfortable and clean beds, friendly staff and good food. Would stay here again.
Nobody informed us that breakfast started an hour later on a Saturday so ended up leaving with none as had an early start. The room and bathroom were nice and clean just the shower head could have done with a clean. Would benefit from some sort of curtain to cover the porthole window to keep the daylight out when trying to sleep.

The staff were really nice and friendly. We were there for a week but headed out early most mornings so only had breakfast one morning. They had a good few choices, we all had the traditional fry and it was good. The pub was nice and friendly, all the locals happy to have a bit of a chat. We had our evening meal there on two evenings. It was traditional pub grub and a small criticism, it was little expensive for that type of food. The room was on the smaller side but was clean and fitted out needs.

The area was beautiful and we could have stayed longer and gone walking. The hotel room was quiet even though there were a lot of people staying. The room was very nice and clean. We enjoyed a drink when we arrived and the man in charge was very helpful and friendly. The meal in the evening was good and very reasonably priced as were the drinks. The breakfast was great all freshly cooked and no buffet style . The staff in the evening and at breakfast were professional but friendly and efficient.
There was nothing we did not like . The only problem was checking the traffic to the right when leaving the parking.
