It is wonderful to stay in a place with such a long and interesting history! What is the source for the original farm house. It would be interesting to have some of the history from the interval when the farm house was first mentioned up to the time when there are mentions of happenings at the pub in several newspapers.

We were in room 2, one of the rooms in the old part of the accommodation. When coming down in the morning I struck my head on the overhead beam at the top of the stairs. The edge of the beam is a right angle that is quite sharp so when I hit my head is did slightly break the skin. Nothing serious. I suggest the edged of the beam could be rounded a little and perhaps even padded with a little foam rubber.

I really loved the atmosphere of the old pub with the traditional beams wonky walls that come with a building dating from the 12th Century. The person that greeted us was really friendly & helpful & the rest of the staff were also nice. The room was simple but met our needs for the night & we enjoyed a lovely warm tasty evening meal & great cooked breakfast. Whilst we were on a motorbike this journey I was delighted to note an EV charging station in the car park which would be handy if we had been in our electric car.

The only small thing would have been better pillows really

Breakfast was excellent, the place had its own uniqueness and charm, slightly off the beaten track. Good selection of non alcoholic cider and beer which was a pleasant change, as many places only seem to stock one beer/lager and if you are lucky one cider, this establishment had 2 of each

Very soft bed, and perhaps guest should be warned of the shapes of the internal features within the establishment, Yes low beams and wonky walls all of which are charming but can catch taller customers out. Plus some of the rooms are directly above the noisy bars

Great location and character being a medieval inn. Staff very friendly and helpful and meals good, especially breakfast. Room comfortable and clean with en suite facilities. The price was exceptional value for money. We would happily stay there again.

There were some very minor issues with the bathroom which will be easily rectified now they are aware of them.. Our room and two others were accessed from an outside staircase. This was no problem to us and it was summer.

We have enjoyed staying at the Blue Cow several times and have enjoyed looking again at the "Blue Book".

There was no water when turning on the cold water tap for the basin. I have previously suggested some sponge rubber or other padding on the overhead beam at the top of the stairway leading to rooms 1, 2, and 3.

The food, for the evening meal was excellent. Must recommend the Baileys cheese cake. And the blue cow breakfast is not too be missed. The staff were friendly and helpful.

The bedroom was spacious and clean. However I found the room cold and couldn't work out how to get the heating on.

Extremely handy for travellers on A1, it is a mile away and a genuine timbered old fashioned pub in quiet little village.Fabulous wonky floors too. Food appeared genuinely home made and a nice change from the prescribed chain pub menu

The real ale was just ok not quite right. You will get noise in Ur room from the bar but that isn't a criticism it's the nature and age of the building with the bedrooms directly above the bar

Great location for a run we had to get up early for. Handy for the A1 😁 Room was clean but basic, Bedding lovely. Friendly staff and made breakfast half an hour earlier for us. Food on the evening was great. 👍

Very shabby round the back of the hotel and our rooms were up a metal staircase almost above the pub with zero views and was a bit expensive but I'm just a tight Yorkshire man 😂

Location couldn't be better, within five minutes off the A1. Ample parkng. It's a very old inn so expect wonky floors and such but good plumbing. Excellent bar and restaurant. We had live rock band which made our stay even better.

Nothing at all to dislike.
