The room was large and really clean, there was a 24 hour restaurant service and onsite parking was free. The hotel is also really accessible from the M27. I was sailing from Southampton on the day of my departure and from the hotel there were three routes to the docks - all of which where 20 minutes, so very accessible. My stay at the Holiday Inn Express was on a par with my stay at a Premier Inn (for previous holidays)- however Premier Inn's in Southampton don't offer either free breakfasts in their price or free onsite parking. If sailing from Southampton I definitely recommend this hotel.

Nothing really. My stay really did exceed my expectations. It was clean, the beds were comfy and the restaurant served food after 9pm. I really enjoyed my veggie curry and my Mum's pizza was very good. A very drinkable house red too and the eating area was nice. Breakfast was good too. And the staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The location was excellent for access to the various places of work around the area. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Everything was modern and the food in the evening was pleasant.

It was very little I didn’t like. I was there for three nights and The Hotel forgot to clean my room on the second night. I have stayed at Holiday Inn expresses in different locations and compared to the Holiday Inn express at Taunton the breakfast selection was not as good. However, the food that was there was very nice. This may sound like nitpicking but if you ask the question, you will get an answer

Spacious clean room with everything that you need really. Good breakfast options and coffee machines, although go early if you want cooked as the hot cabinet dries everything out.. Plenty of parking and the staff were all very polite and helpful.

it is starting to look a little tired in decor now, but not the end of the world. Shower curtain.!? in the year 2024, not the best and very noisy aircon that wasn't even turned on.!! My only other comment is.. Staff picking at bits of food from the breakfast buffet and drinking hot drinks while stood in the buffet area is not very professional in my opinion and would definitely be frowned upon by HSE, as customers we rely on you offering top notch food hygiene.

The location of this hotel was perfect for our Christmas party at the Utilita Bowl. It is very convenient in general. The staff were friendly and the food service in the bar was super quick! The food was also tasty. The room was comfortable enough, with a well designed bathroom and good black out curtains. The pancake machine at breakfast was fun!

Our room was a long walk from reception. I have mobility issues (the hotel wasn’t told this, though) and was wearing heels for a party so this was not ideal! There was a light that was breaking in our room so it flickered (I did report it). There was no mirror by the desk to sit and do make up and the light was appalling for getting ready or for taking outfit photos. I mean, that’s quite a specific negative point, though.

Clean image on arrival and 2 elevators so easy to get to and from our room on 1st floor. Opted for a King room and very comfortable and clean with all the normal additions I.e. tea making, towels, shampoo and body wash. Lovely hot powerful shower. Very nice breakfast with plenty of choice.

Our only complaint was the bar. The prices were extortionate and charged £7.50 for a pint of shandy and £12 for a large glass of wine. I know it's a hotel but those prices were ridiculous and put us off of using that hotel again as we like to have a few drinks in the bar after a busy day out. 5 drinks and it was £45!

Comfortable good size room and bed, well priced. Convenient for a stopover from the Portsmouth ferry, just off the motorway. Very professional polite staff and efficient reception which gave the hotel a more luxury feel. Lovely breakfast included in the price with heaps of choice. Kettle and drinks provided in the room, which was very welcome. It was nice to have a sofa too as somewhere to put my stuff. Plenty of free parking.

The colours of the room were very bright and a bit 'in your face' - I'd have preferred either all one colour in different shades, or more muted colours - maybe lose the bright red.

If you are visiting the area for the cricket it is idea! It has a larger car park. However there is a five minute war to a bus stop. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very good breakfast!

I was not able to used my mobile phone and there was no Wi-Fi during my visit!! I had to go outside the hotel premises to be able to use my phone. Each time I went back to my room I was unable to used either of my cards to enter my room! Very frustrating. However all staff were extremely helpful. Please note if asking for a quiet room like I requested, is going to be surrounded by trees like so maybe that’s why there no Wi-Fi?

Breakfast was limited but adequate for our purposes. We all managed to find something that we enjoyed for breakfast. Dinner was more basic but food was hot and arrived within a reasonable time despite being very busy. The burger was a big favourite and we all wished we had ordered it when it arrived.

Line for the bar was excessive the poor bar staff were trying to serve as well as taking food orders. The restaurant staff were really busy. It might be a good idea at dinner time to get the reception staff to help. I think there were 3 of them doing not that much.

Modern decor, a friendly welcome at Reception, comfy seating in dining and bar area, properly cleaned room with good facilities, helpful staff, and excellent breakfast regularly resupplied by busy staff despite it being very crowded! Well laid out car park with proper paths leading to the entrance simplifying dragging suitcases etc - an important point in my view. Nice wall-mounted TV in my room, the angle of which could be adjusted slightly, a bonus when so many hotels fix TV's to the wall at the wrong angle to where you'd have to watch it.

My main grumble is the day/evening menu - Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express seem to have had the same menu(s) for a few years and there's hardly anything I like; I'd love to make some suggestions but I doubt they'd be interested... Apart from that, I found the mattress uncomfortable and the 'firm' pillows far from being firm, but they do get a lot of use and hopefully they'll be due for renewal soon.

We were staying for one night before boarding our Cruise at Southampton Port. The Reception was welcoming, staff helpful & explained where our room was & what time breakfast would be served. The room was clean & comfortable & also in a quiet area so we slept very well. The shower in the morning was refreshing & powerful. Breakfast had a vast selection. Even a pancake maker which we had never seen before. Car parking was easy & we thanked the staff & then made our way to the Port which was about 20 minutes away. Would recommend this Hotel.
