Location was directly in front of 2 beach access walk ways. Staff were very nice on both shifts. They allow beach umbrella and beach chairs for guests to use

It was hard to find parking. Seemed like a lot of the general public was using hotel parking to be closer to the beach. For the price of the hotel, The breakfast? Was not a breakfast and could’ve included more items like eggs, oatmeal and bagels

The location is amazing, the pictures we saw on booking.com did not do this property justice. We booked another hotel near this property and Wes extremely disappointed as the on line photos were extremely exaggerated, and after seeing the property in person could tell that photo shop was used. Ocean Palms resort was even better in person. Such a vacation tropical vibe. Staff was super friendly and welcoming even gave us a couple free shirts.. so amazing we already have planned our next trip and will be staying here again!! See you soon!

I didn’t like that I had to leave😢

The location of this hotel can't be beat! A quick walk to the beach as well as restaurants and shops. We definitely utilized the beach gear and towels that they provide and we loved the pastries and beverages provided in the morning. Having a full kitchen in the rooms and grills on the property was a definite bonus for us as we were able to grill almost every night and enjoy our dinner by the fire pits. Highly recommend this hotel!

The only downside I can think of is that the parking can be tough. There are only 6 on-site spots available and, if those are full, you are own your own to use the public parking around the hotel. We were able to score a close spot when we arrived, but I could see that being an issue.

The breakfast was ok. The coffee maker takes too much time time though. I liked that it was close walking distance to everything and it had gates to exit without having to go out the front.

The location is amazing! Rooms were very clean, staff were friendly. We enjoyed the fire pits at night and being able to borrow chairs, towels and umbrellas for the beach.

“Continental breakfast” was only granola bars, coffee, juice and come prepackaged muffins and donuts. 2/3 days we stayed and came for breakfast the tray was empty or nearly empty at 8am. On busy days parking can be an issue since there is only 4-5 designated parking spots for the hotel. If those are full (always are) you have to try and find public parking which can be a challenge in the area. The first night we had to pay $24 for 3hr parking across the street because there was no where to park.

Staff was very friendly and Helpful. location was great, right near the beach. Just had to walk up and down the stairs a lot going to the beach. ITS NOT a flat area to get to the beach. Otherwise, great location to shopping, bars, rest etc....all with in short walking distance.

Again......the access to the beach was down a large flight of stairs (nothing to do with the resort, 2 staircases within about 100 yards of each other to gain access to the beach.) and got tiresome very quickly. LOVE THE LANDSCAPING all around the resort! Absolutely amazing.

Very friendly staff. Beautiful room, and perfect location. Walk to the beach across the street. Walk to plenty of things in Carlsbad Village. They offer use of beach chairs, beach towels, surf boards at no charge! Nice fire pit to enjoy in the evening. pool and hot tub too. No fee for parking and no "resort fee" which is very rare these days. This will be our new favorite place to stay in Carlsbad.

I liked everything. the fruit at breakfast could have been a little better though.

I spent five days here and didn't want to leave. This place has a great vibe, with friendly, courteous, extremely helpful staff. They provide beach towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, surf boards, and unlimited information about the area and its attractions. Delicious, fresh-ground coffee and endless tea are constantly available in the lobby, with a basic but good daily continental breakfast of fruit, yoghurt (it's vegetarian! yay!), bagels, cream cheese, pastries, and juices. The resort is a perfect location with a very short walk to the beach, though the stairs back up can be brutal in the heat. Sunsets are spectacular. The pool and hot tub are scrupulously clean, and the outdoor shower at the parking lot entrance is convenient for washing off the beach sand. The tropical gardens are beautiful and lush and give a feeling of idyllic Hawaii. There's a courtyard with tables for outdoor dining any time, and I loved the fire pits and tiki torches at night, where people sat around and talked over a glass of wine or coffee. It's all quiet and private and very relaxing. My kitchenette was perfect and I was most happy to discover Wednesday's farmers market, only three blocks away on State Street, as groceries are a fair trek up Carlsbad Village Drive. The Village Faire, two blocks away, has some interesting and kitschy shops and lots of ethnic restaurants. Likely everything you could possibly need is within walking distance, including the transit station (about three blocks away up Grand Avenue, to the right of the resort). I loved Carlsbad--such a holiday town, happily very dog-friendly--and would love to visit again. I definitely recommend Ocean Palms. Huge thanks to Eddie, Kenzi, Nicki, Beau, and everyone else for making this a most wonderful, memorable, luxury vacation.

I didn't like that I had to leave so soon! Wish I could have stayed another week. The only negative thing I can think of is although I didn't have a car, I could see that parking would be an issue anywhere in this area.

Location is excellent, as you are steps from the beach access, though there is no ocean view. Bed was VERY comfy, adequate lighting, nice mini-kitchen, and enjoyed having the bathroom dispensers for the soaps, lotion, etc. Good snacks and coffee are available all day. Plenty of towels and pillows.

The facilities and location.

There was several families that absolutely took over all the facilities which made it tough for other people to enjoy the facilities as well. Every time my wife and I tried to use the spa, it was completely FULL of kids and their parents. There may need to be some time limits where families can allow other guests to use the facilities as well. I love that families are spending time together but we were on our anniversary and wanted to be able to use the spa and even the fire pits in the evening without a ton of kids surrounding us.
