I really loved my stay at the Arbor Inn. Friendly reception and the room was great. Spacious with a high ceiling (I did get upgraded from a regular queen to a double queen room, all for myself, which was nice), very private, very comfortable bed and clean. Coffee maker and microwave came in handy (a few more refills for the coffee pads would be nice). Walking distance to Monterey town. And it was quiet at night. And the price was affordable compared to some other places. Recommended! If I'm ever in Monterey again I'll probably just stay at the Arbor Inn again.

Nothing really.

Super clean, great and new looking rooms. Beds very comfy. I loved how the cards to get into rooms are tap not insert, it works very easy. All rooms also have a double dead bolt which made us feel very safe. It was great walking distance from Alvarado street, only a 10min walk. We were able to walk to some bars and walk back. Super safe area and very quiet.

The two older staff persons were very nice and polite. It seems a family owns it. Their daughter however was a bit strange. My husband went to go ask for some extra towels since the rooms only had 1 each per person and I have lots of hair. She kept asking him questions as to why we needed 2 extra? Like what’s the big deal?

The room was clean, and the two double beds were nicely made, attractive, and comfortable. The location was great. It was on Munras Ave, which is a great street to be on because it's very close to the center of town, Fremont Ave (which leads you to the CA 1 freeway, an easy route to Carmel, Carmel Valley, and more! They have a bench for your suitcase and an extra folding suitcase bench in the closet. Microwave and refrigerator, It's only 5 minutes to the pier and shops.

Parking could be a challenge. The room has a 24" x 24" table and one comfortable chair. Other than that, there is nowhere else to sit and relax (except for the bed). Logging into the free WIFI was awkward.

Very helpful, friendly and polite staff. They made a great recommendation for supper within walking distance (A Chinese restaurant with Chinese people eating in it - always a good sign) Comfy and clean room. Charmingly old fashioned look to the outside but the interior is modern and comfortable. Location easy to find. It's not walking distance to shore - which would have been nice. I could have worked that out when booking I guess (but I booked it from UK without ever being in Monterey before). I expect bay-side hotels are much more expensive. We were just passing through - this place is ideal for that. Drove to the waterside in the morning which is worth doing and although it was quiet (November) we could sit outside and have coffee looking at the ocean.

Nothing.

The whole place is beautiful when you pull in, just that already made me excited to see our room. My husband and I stayed with our toddler in a king room with a fireplace. It was so much bigger than I was expecting and it was clean. I absolutely loved that they had the windows slightly open before our arrival so it smelled as good as outside and it didn't feel like a musty hotel room. I always check the bathrooms for hair or anything wierd and I check the bed before we even bring our things in to be safe....it definitely passed the test. I am a clean freak and I spend time cleaning the room up to my standards in most places but I didn't have to at Arbor Inn. Considering we came to stay for a quick weekend trip it was so nice to just be able to settle in. Everything in our suite worked. The bed was a bed.... nothing fancy but definitely not bad. It was one of the more comfortable and quiet beds we've slept in on any trip. The area was quiet and very comfy, I would love to live in that area because it was so peaceful and beautiful. The staff was amazing and was like the cherry on top of our stay!

My only complaint was the carpet. It doesn't look particularly dirty nor does it smell or feel unusual or bad. They could use a refreshing though. Our feet got dirty pretty quick from walking barefoot. We usually use sandals but we were tired and just wanted to get things set up for the morning and go to sleep.

The staff were over the top friendly and helpful. The location was nice. Rooms were clean. Cute Hotel. The flowers were beautiful. The owner even let us keep one of our cars there after we checked out so we didn't have to pay for two cars while we went to the aquarium. Very sweet people.

The outside porch light was on all night, our room was so bright it was hard to sleep. The curtains didn't help from where the beds were. Room was a little tight. Our front door ran into the bed as you walked in. Beds were uncomfortable. With the wood decking the people coming and going with their suitcases were extremely loud in the early am and late night. Showers could use some updating. The Amenities list a spa and there is no spa. That was disappointing.

This is our third time staying at the Arbor Inn. This is a cute , well maintained and charming place. The front desk staff are very helpful and kind. They make checking in easy and fast. The price of our stay was affordable and the location is perfect. It's near the mall, restaurants and walking distance to Alvarado St. Only a quick drive to the beach, Pacific Grove, The Warf and Cannery Riw. The room is a great size, clean with very comfortable beds. The coffee machine, refrigerator and microwave were very convenient to have in our room. Really great shower pressure. We will definitely be back!

I can't complain...

We booked at the Arbor Inn over a long weekend in the winter in Monterey. While the inn is best set up for people with cars (ample parking, ability to drive out in two directions) we found the location was good for walking into the center of Monterey (assuming you don't need to be right in the center of things) and if needed the main bus transit center wasn't far away either. We found our room clean and comfortable, and our location near the office probably meant that we experienced little difficulty connecting to wifi (as some other reviews have mentioned), I assume because we were close to a router. Overall we found the booking provided good value for money and would happily return.

Some people mentioned the datedness of the decor, and while we weren't too bothered, light sleepers may want to bring earplugs, just in case. Our location close to the office, and the relatively light sound insulation, meant that we could hear everyone making their way to the office to check out in crystal-clear detail. Not a dealbreaker by any means, especially at this price point, but it's good to know if this is something you need to plan for while traveling.

The motel is very attractive. It was quite busy with bookings the night we stayed but it wasn't very noisy. Located about a 20min walk from all the shops/cafes/restaurants in downtown Monterey we felt it was in a good location to base ourselves. We had a wonderful, unexpected view of Monterey Bay out our window.

Our room had two queen beds but consequently it felt a little cramped. There was only about a foot between the end of one of the beds and the large TV unit/fridge etc. There are high ceilings but only a lamp in the bedroom between the two beds so that made it difficult to see luggage etc at night- a light on the wall above the TV unit or the ceiling would have helped.

We had a pleasant stay at Arbor Inn Monterey! The room was clean and comfortable, providing a nice space to relax after a day of exploring. The location is great, with easy access to all the local attractions. I also want to highlight that when an issue arose, the administration was quick to help, and I really appreciated their assistance. The check-in process was simple, and everything went smoothly. It's a great choice for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Monterey!
