This is a beautiful hotel, amazing location in San Diego so I’m so happy this is where we stayed for 2 weeks. The bed was so comfortable and we had a lovely view of the marina which was nice to look over at from the balcony. We also enjoyed the 2 pools and 2 hot tubs and the tropical feel of the area was perfect. I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel having bikes to hire so we enjoyed those and went to the local cafes.

There was a slightly bad rotten eggs smell from the sink when you ran the tap for the first few seconds and the cleaners ignored mess in the room sometimes e.g didn’t clean the balcony table which became dirty. I’d say be sure to put all used towels in a clear pile or they won’t be replaced with clean ones.

I was super positively surprised by our stay. The location on the little island is perfect, you see ships every day when leaving the hotel and going for a morning run is magnificent. The area has something peaceful. We upgraded to a suite with outdoor area towards the little marina garden and loved the space, the mini apartment and the views. The pool area is very nice as well, facing the marina.

Weird to charge so much (25$) for parking when the public lot across the street is free. Didn’t bother me really though, I just parked on the public lot

I love staying here. it's located in nice quite part of san diego. it's also beautiful. enjoyed walking around and finding new places to eat. we came here for the gator festival and it was not far from the hotel at all. we actually love staying here. we'll be back next year and hopefully get a better room.

hated the location of our room. we've stayed here several times and this time we were on the ground floor on the corner by the marina. couldnt see anything really. we did have the grass area to sit outside and see the boats. I hate being on the ground level with people making noise above us. also being on the corner you heard everything. folks walking and talking loud. I asked for a new room but everything was booked.

Stayed here twice over the course of three weeks - at the beginning of our three week trip we spent two nights and then one night before we flew home. First room was a marina view room number 128, it was clean and roomy and the view was lovely, however, the bathroom there had a pungent smell when it had been shut up for the day which was a bit off putting. Staff were efficient and checkin quick on both occasions. For our final nights stay we had a different room which again was clean albeit a bit smaller and was adequate for our needs. Location is nice and quiet

Nothing , but when I called the 800 number they cannot transfer my call to best western plus shelter island they’re giving the direct line to best western plus shelter island so I can dial directly but when I was talking to them I was walking and I don’t have any pen and paper so what the other line did she put me on hold and i think she dialed best western plus shelter island herself and after talking to them she talked to me again and was able to answer my question . I hope next time when I dial the best western 800 number they will able to connect me directly to the branch , May be next time. Or instead of writing the 800 number in the key envelope , just write the number of best western plus shelter island San Diego , thank you

Fabulous location with amazing views across to the CBD. So quiet, especially in the evenings. Great location for a picturesque evening stroll before bed. Room was spacious with a great view of the marina. Bed was very comfortable and room was spotlessly clean. Free parking is available just across the road if you are not keen on paying the $25 per night fee.

Only gripe was that the kitchen facilities were very limited.

Everything except the price. They now have Lobster Roll at The Blue Wave Restaurant. I'm from the Northeast and really missed The Lobster Roll. Brought back memories. The Beds are always comfortable.

I've frequented here many times, and the price has really increased dramatically. Usually where welcomed with open arms but everyone seemed cold this time. I'm thinking of bringing my daughter in January just hope the prices are a little more reasonable.

excellent location! Amenities were nice as well. At night, the view of the San Diego skyline was perfect.

Our room was definitely nice but you can tell there has been some water damage. There was a slight smell of mildew but I figured it’s part of staying somewhere so close to the water. It was still nice enough that I plan to come back!

The location is amazing, the whole island is excellent, local restaurants and bars as well as nice walks where you can take in the scenery. The hotel is really nice, comfy rooms and great facilities. We used the pool and the restaurant for lunch and were pleasantly surprised.

As our room was a ground room, it was quite dark, however as we were outside most of the day it didn’t affect us. There were some signs of wear and tear in the room, some things could be updated.

The location was very good. Close to airport, short taxi ride to estate. Walking area accross the street from the hotel. We ate at the restaurant and it was VERY good. Scenery and marina were beautiful

We were on the first floor. There was a huge gap in the door between the door and the door jam both on the hinge side of the door and the bottom of the door.. There was enough of a gap that something small like a mouse or a lizard could get through - nothing did thank goodness. Humidity in the room was very high - maybe even a little musty.
