Very central location .Lovely well preserved 19th century building with lots of character The standard of cleanliness across the building was very high .The staff were great - friendly and extremely helpful . No breakfast facilities but there is 24 hour free tea and coffee and cookies. It also provides excellent value for money .

Check in. Quick & easy. Hotel staff were super friendly throughout our stay. I mentioned that we were celebrating my birthday & the hotel staff generously gave us a bottle of bubbly 😊 & some balloons!! What a lovely surprise. Location Literally 60 seconds from Union Square. Perfect location for public transport, shopping, sightseeing. San Francisco is also a great city to walk & Fisherman Wharf & the Golden Gate Park are a quick bus, or morning stroll away. Also the Walking Tour and the Hop On, Hope Off busses all leave from Union Square so the Chancellor is perfectly situated. McDonald's is 3/4 minutes away, Walgreens & 7eleven are 2/3 minutes away. Right next door is an old school American diner called Sears that does great food all day. Rooms The hotel is an older building & the rooms have an older, quaint feel, but honestly they have everything you could need. They are cozy but spacious. We had a large luggage room with wardrobe, safe, spare pillows. There was also a portable heater & plug in fan should you need them. We didn't even though we visited in Jan. The bed was so comfortable, it was difficult to get out of bed in the morning! :) You can have a choice of pillows too. Our room had a large fridge that Bar / Lobby There is a bar at the lobby, (which we didn't get to try out this time), but the best part was the cookies!! They were plentiful & absolutely delicious!!! The lobby is comfortable & has Coffee, Tea, Apples, Popcorn & Cookies. We stayed at the hotel in Jan, so it was lovely to be able to grab a coffee or tea & have a chat with the hotel staff & enjoy some cookies before hitting the hay. Check out Quick & easy. The hotel is very centrally located, which make it easily accessible to several option of means of transport! The room was spacious and clean. The personnel was very friendly. At the lobby was a surprise, since they offer for free coffee, tea, water, fruits and biscuits all day long!!! Alao during evenings, they offer popcorn! They also have a baggage storage after your check out, which is also very convenient if your flight is later in the day!

The best thing is that you can have a cup of coffee/tea & cookie at lobby first thing in the morning when you go out, and when you come back to the hotel with cold and tired body (oh sometimes there is even popcorn!). This is like fuel delivered in the snow and also how this cozy hotel makes you feel like home. We were worried that there was no AC in the hotel bit it turned out totally fine since it's December. As long as there is heater and we can open the window for fresh air, we feel fine. The clothes drying line in the bathroom was a very friendly set up especially when we stayed there for two weeks. The location is unbeatable that you can do multiple small trips in and out of the hotel everyday.

One day we saw a guy standing on the fire escapes out side of our hotel window, which made us feel a bit insecured.

The staff was friendly and professional and very helpful. The room looked as if it had been recently refurbished and was very clean and beautifully furnished. The location was ideal within steps of Union Square and the cable car went right past the front door. It was very convenient and I felt safe, which was important as I am an older woman travelling alone. There was a strong police presence in the area, which added to the feeling of safety. There was a good variety of restaurants nearby. There were free cookies and apples and water available in the lobby. I should also mention that the amenities in the bathroom were of good quality, and I loved the "pillow menu". All in all, I was pleasantly surprised that for such a relatively reasonable price, I was able to really enjoy my stay. I highly recommend this hotel!

If I had but one complaint, the toilet structure (when sitting) was too close to the bathroom wall making “things” a bit difficult.

I had a wonderful experience staying here. The check-in process was seamless, and the front desk staff were incredibly helpful. I loved the little touches, like fresh water, coffee, tea, and cookies available 24/7—it made the stay feel extra special. The hotel also has a cozy bar with friendly staff, which was a nice place to unwind. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, and I especially appreciated the option to choose different types of pillows—something you rarely see in hotels, and it made a big difference! Everything was spotless, and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. All in all, a great stay! The only thing I want to mention as I know it might be important during summer month, the hotel has no aircondition.

I had a wonderful staying! The staff is friendly, the value for money is great and the cookies and apples are a sweet addition to the overall experience! The location is right at the Union square which makes it easy to get to most places around. BTW Many people warned me about the homeless situation and the overall city condition these days. As a tourist, the area of Union square, Fisherman wharf, and most of the areas I got felt safe, and pleasant. With that, the area between: Van ness - Turk - Market streets did felt unpleasant and you might want to avoid it at least nowadays

Two things I wish would improve are: 1. The fixed shower head was too low and every time I wanted to wash my hair I had bend over to do it. It would be great to ether elevate it a bit, or enable a portable shower head. 2. I was not aware at all that there is an offsite gym and I was missing it very much. Please make an effort to inform the customers about the existence of it.

The hotel is conveniently located right in the heart of Union Square. The room was small but fairly comfortable. While there was a refrigerator in the room, there was no coffee pot. However, the lobby offered complimentary coffee, a water station, and cookies, which was quite convenient. Although the hotel is old, it can be described as clean and well-maintained.

Parking is not free, and perhaps because the hotel is old, the rooms were a bit small. Parking is available across the street from the hotel, and valet service is provided, which is quite convenient. However, the area in front of the hotel is very busy, making it a bit tricky to check in with a car initially.

We loved our room, and we were pleasantly surprised to see there was an extra space for suitcases, ironing board, coats etc. The bed was very good: high, with a wonderfully soft top mattress and good pillows. The bathroom was small but neat and the shower was good. The hotel does not serve breakfast, but they offer (chocolate chip) cookies, apples and coffee and tea all day long (free of charge), and free popcorn at happy our in the bar. The hotel is situated one minute walking from Union Square, and there are several nice restaurants very close by.

We had a room at the back of the hotel, so we didn't really have a nice view, but that didn't matter because we went outside anyway.
