The location is great, close to Central and Redfern train stations. Also close to bus stations and the light rail. The hostel offers free extra activities (which you can join from their app) such as pilates, painting, walking tours, BBQs on Fridays, among others. It also is provided with a gym and cinema rooms. The outdoor area is nice in both buildings and the staff is always friendly and keen to help. Each bed has an individual light, socket and a curtain for privacy, which is great. The beds are comfortable and the linen and duvet were clean. They will store your luggage for free if you get there before the check in time, and after check out when your flight is later in the day. The kitchen is big enough and there are organizing baskets that you can label with your name in both the shelves and the fridge. It was always kept clean and organized. To enter the rooms and both buildings you only need your phone to activate the key via Bluetooth and also, you can manage both, your check in and out on their app.

Even though there's a toilet and shower as separated rooms in each dormitory, they might need to be cleaned a bit more often, at least for the rooms with more people. The storing drawers/lockers under the beds often times were not big enough to fit most suitcases; therefore, most of the hosts left their stuff around, which can be a bit messy.

Great location at a reasonable price with a friendly atmosphere as well as daily activities arranged by the hostel. Overall the property is clean, all rooms are air conditioned.

Communal bathrooms//toilets are constantly disgusting despite being cleaned daily, there simply just aren't enough for the volume of guests in the hostel. The kitchen never seems to have enough space to store your food items with my groceries frequently being either stolen or thrown out during my stay despite following the labelling requirements.

I found myself using the toilets outside my dorm in order not to wake up the remaining dorm residents. The toilet outside the dorm wasn't that clean and sometimes toilet paper was missing. The goki system for dorm access is a bit convoluted and overkill in my opinion. (although by using goki there are no physical keys prone to be lost). I tried to use the washing and drying machines but they require a lot of coins, no debit card option (and the reception more often than not doesn't have enough coins to help you out) They have a qr code in each machine but it doesn't work properly.. Had to walk for quite a bit to a laundromat.

I’ve never seen such a clean hostel!! (And I’ve really been in many). Excellent work from the housekeeping team and kudos specially to Lorena, who was always looking out for it so that people feel comfortable and sharing any tips! Maria from reception was also super helpful with my requests, always with a smile! On top of that, comfy beds with some privacy thanks to the curtain and well equipped kitchen. There’s also a great vibe, i did extend my stay and would totally go back!

The room have a private bathroom.

The room has a glass roof so it gets really light in the early morning. I booked a 4 dormitory room with private bathroom, however they offered me a mixed room. I didn’t like this at all, I DONT SHARE WITH MAN. They should change the title on “booking app” shows clearly “FEMALE” room or “MIXED” room. The receptionist transferred me to another room, but I was lucky to find another spot on a female room.

It’s the cleanest hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Staff is super nice and everything is so well organised😊 so many events, everything to make your stay really memorable Would absolutely love to stay another time

Great little place to stay for a night out . Security is excellent and the people staying there were very friendly . Twin room was tidy and bed was comfortable . Shared bathroom was pretty clean at all times . Melody on the reception was excellent in taking me through the steps to get my access key and a great asset to the reception team . If you’re looking for a cheap no frills stay in a great location then the village fits that bill , even comes with a free welcome drink on arrival !

Not staying for an extra day to relax !

Friendly and helpful staff, go above and beyond to help. Fantastic communal areas to relax, but also to socialise and meet new people. Property includes a cinema room and a gym room!!

Some areas are sociable so if you go to bed very early maybe bring some earplugs. Didn’t bother us though and was quiet from around midnight

My stay was made exceptional thanks to the warmth and efficiency of Bea , the receptionist. Her welcoming demeanor and helpfulness added an extra layer of comfort to the experience. The hostel itself is really cozy , the location is perfect ( near central station ) and the accommodation team is exceptional , my room was always spotless ! I highly recommend Surry Hills for a delightful stay , with Bea’s attentive service as the cherry on top !

Good location 3 stops on metro from the airport but also then easy to get to the Surry Hills for good food/drinks options as well to get into more central areas around the harbour/museums/botanical gardens etc. The Goki app is also great as means you don't need to carry a separate key/card to get in.

First room i checked into wasn't made up however they did move me swiftly into a new room so didn't cause too much of a problem.
